Jon Thomas is my Shintaro of BJJ; his thoughts on starting your escapes early, of filtering open guard into headquarters, and his simple but comprehensive closed guard system are all cornerstones of my BJJ game. I love it. I do a sweep with similar grips from the bottom of side control. I’m wondering if you extend the arm at the belly (like a gut punch) combined with the momentum, you could probably send him into a big fall on his back. Does that make sense?

Oh boy, I love this throw in both judo and wrestling. Plus, being a heavyweight makes this easier because it is less expected.
Komichiwa Sensei It's too clean,....clean is good but there is a point where something is too clean it becomes unreal.....like can you perform this move where the opponent is refusing to being thrown(struggling under clinch) in an environment of heightened tension, coursing adrenaline and fear?...arigato😤.

One of the reason kata guruma is pretty mediocre in bjj is because people just drop uke on their back for safety reasons but you can't land a crucifix with a broken neck
It seems like a modified version of Fireman’s Carry.
Kata guruma is a fireman's carry. Kano may have seen it in wrestling training and competition and adapted it for judo.
