I am a born again believer. I was brought up and went to catholic school, having religion class 5 days a week. However as I grew older and started having some questions about the catholic faith, I discovered a lot of things which changed my view of the catholic faith. I no longer consider myself catholic but a believer having a true relationship with Father God, Jesus his son and the Holy Spirit. Studying the New Testament I became intrigued with the book of ACTs. I feel this was the true beginning of Christianity. Most members of the early church were Hebrews. Jesus and the Apostles were Hebrews. They all had a very strict understanding of the Torah (Old Testament). So I started listening to Messianic Christian Jews teach. It is amazing how interpretations have changed the Christian Bible. To really get the true meaning of the Bible text (which was written in Hebrew) you need to understand from the Hebrew perspective. Ex. Psalm 23. In KJV it's say "The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want". But in the Hebrew or Messianic Bible that same verse is translated " The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not LACK". There is a difference between wanting and lacking. But this is the true version of that psalm. I think it brings better understanding from the original way it was written. I do consider myself Christian, I just want to know the true way scripture was written. I seek the TRUTH of God's word.

99% of Catholics who leave the Church never fully understood their faith. Instead of asking the Church questions, they start asking Protestants, and get taken in by “Sola Scriptura” which wasn’t a thing for the first 1500 years of Christianity and is nowhere found in Scripture. Quite the opposite in fact in Scripture. 😊

The book of Matthew may have been written originally in aramaic and later translated to koine greek. There is no evidence to support the idea of writing in Hebrew(which was only spoken by rabbis by the time of Jesus. Koine greek was the trade language of the roman empire in the 1st century which is why the NT writers wrote in it. May God bless you and give you clarity of the truth of faith in Christ which replaced abiding by the jewish distinctives as taught in Holy Scripture. Please read Galatians, Romans, Acts, and Colssians. It is very clear that to add back it what has completed its purpose and trust in that (hebrew food laws, sabath, sacrifices of animals) is to miss the whole point of the good news of Jesus. God bless you.

Thank you Ps Guzik for explaining this thorny matter in a biblically correct, clear and such a graceful way. I, myself, was part of the Hebrew roots movement for many years and can attest to everything you say. God had such grace on me! Though I fully believe that there is much light and great understanding of the scriptures to be gained by going back to the roots of where scripture concepts found their genesis, the dangers you highlight are very real and present all the way. If a more "Torah oriented" (for lack of a more accurate term) is sought, there certainly is nothing inherently wrong with that. As long as the focus remains Christ and following Him. And the ever present dangers are kept in mind.

Very difficult to understand the New Testament without reference to the old, considering that all the quotations from Jesus and the writers of the New Testament were regarding the Old Testament. One flows into the other. If you dont know the beginning then you wont understand the end 🤔 All Scripture is inspired so we can be fully equipped. In order to explain things then we need to know how to explain. Thats my humble opinion.

The new testament in JESUS is the fulfillment of the old testament. Reading the old testament will help new Believers to understand more the book of the new testament....even JESUS would quote some scriptures from the old testament. When we started our Bible Study, from John1:1 we jumped to the book of Genesis to know more what he meant "in the beginning...." but of course we already knew that the WORD he mentioned was JESUS. We proceeded to reading and discussing the following books learning the history of Israel founded by GOD through the promised made to Abraham, Isaach, Jacob....both books are truly important....GOD bless🙏🕊

@JadDragon 5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed stood up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to command them to keep the Law of Moses.”......Both the apostles and the elders came together to look into this matter. 7 And after there had been much debate....8 And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us....19 Therefore I judge that we do not trouble those who are TURNING TO GOD from among the Gentiles, 20 but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from sexual immorality and from what is strangled and from blood. 21 For from ancient generations, Moses has those who preach him in every city since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”
.... Verse 5- circumcise them and command them to keep ALL the Law?
......Verse 6 and 7- they debate and discuss, it isn't an automatic NO THE LAW IS DONE AWAY WITH! Because OBVIOUSLY if it was, there would have been no debate!
.... Verse 8 God gave them the Holy Spirit! WHO does God give the Holy Spirit to? Acts 5:32 We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to THOSE WHO OBEY HIM.
.... Verse 20 What are Gentiles to KEEP? ALL Food Laws! ALL Laws pertaining to Sexual Immorality!
.... Verse 21 Where are they to go to learn more? From who? When?
...... Let's reason together.... Do Christians BELIEVE what the disciples wrote they should do? Because I don't know ANY who even keep themselves pure from sexual immorality! What if the parable of talents were based on these 4 LAWS which are all from God's Torah? What if God gave us all a measure of Faith to see what we would do with it? Kind of like a test of our heart to see if we were adulterers at heart. What if the ones who obeyed these few Laws were then BLESSED and presented with more of God's Laws to obey? This is how it happened for me! May your eyes be open to see His blessings, and may your heart be turned away from rebellion towards God in obedience as our Messiah's heart was!

But we always are repenting of breaking His Laws (like David) when we realize we have broken them. We hide His word in our hearts that we might not sin against Him. There is a distinction between enjoying the 7 Feasts of the Lord out of the symbolic beauty and picture of Jesus they contain and observing them out of a belief you MUST observe them. A believer in Jesus who lives by faith and faith alone is NOT bound, responsible nor mandated to keep the old covenant/Law. Period!
Now before we throw out the baby with the bathwater it is perfectly ok for a believer to enjoy the symbolic beauty in the Feasts. For example the Lord gave the church the two ordinances of Baptism and Communion.
It is very edifying to enjoy a Passover seder knowing thats where communion comes from. Do you have to do a full Passover to enjoy or partake in communion? Absolutely not! But when you go thru one that highlights how it points to Jesus and you see where that little cup and piece of bread communion we use at church for communion comes from it is one of the biggest 'ah-hah moments' a Christian can ever experience! I'm talking about a messianic Passover and not one done by an unbelieving Jew or Torah observant person.
The same is true for a Christian group to enjoy the Feast of Tabernacles. Its great fun to build a "Sukkah" out in the yard or in a park .. decorate it.. bring fresh bread with butter and honey and lots of fresh fruits and various finger foods.. sing songs together out under the night sky.. enjoy the fellowship of being together. There are insightful teachings that can be brought out.. a group prayer time is also great to do. Christians who have never done it love it! How do I know? My wife and I had a ministry for 40 years hosting these types of events. And never once was it ever implied by our ministry that Christians had to observe these feasts. That's simply not scripturally true. Observing a feast doesn't make a Christian "more saved". It does nothing for your spiritual standing before the Lord.
Pastor David is talking about Torah observant groups who practice these things out of a belief Christians MUST do them. That is not what I'm advocating! Stay away from legalistic groups who say you must follow Sabbath laws, kosher laws.. etc. etc.
See you in Glory.. until then may the Lord bless your efforts to reach the lost around you.
To God be the Glory! Forever.. Amen ✡️✝️

Open a bible, check your ego and your will at the door, and read it for yourself! The reason why "Christians" don't know what the gospel is or how God plans to save humanity is because they want to elevate their own will over doing His will. I was raised Armenian and it took most of my life to realize that my eternal security is in God’s hands alone. My rewards, not redemption, are based on what I do in this life by the power of the Holy Spirit. If you can keep the law perfectly, which is the main requirement, you don’t need a savior. If you are guilty in one point you are guilty of breaking the entire Law. Jesus fulfilled the Law, which is just and Holy, perfectly for us because it is impossible for us to do. We now can enter into His rest and cease from our own futile attempts at keeping the Law because of His sacrifice and resurrection. He took our place and we have been declared righteous before God. What shall we do then? Trust in his work, not ours. If we are saved which means we trust ( believe) that He is our righteousness then we are doing the “work of God”. Jesus came to save the ungodly. When we don’t trust in, and cease from, our works we enter into His rest. That’s when we let Him live through us by His Holy Spirit. Jesus reminds us that without Him we can do nothing. If you are anxious to perform the Law for your righteousness then you are trusting yourself and not Him and you are not free indeed. Relax and know that if you trust in what He did for you in the Gospel that you are redeemed; the good works will then flow through you from God. Pray that he will give you wisdom and lead you into all Truth. This is the works that lead to rewards, not redemption. Redemption is His work in us. Believe by the faith he gives us.

I noticed how you changed the tense of the verse in Colossians. The verse says that they ARE a shadow of things to come. In other words, these things are prophetic things that have not happened yet. Why would the author say to get rid of something that hasn't happened yet? If you read Colossians slowly from the beginning the context becomes clear.
One more thought for Sherry and her son, and also Jane, the word "eternal" in the Bible has weight. The NT tells us that we have ETERNAL life. The OT tells us that the Sabbath is ETERNAL. I think we should trust Him at His Word, whether regarding eternal days or eternal life. If God can change His mind on one, He can surely change His mind on the other.
    God bless you!

I grew up in a multicultural community. And some of our closest family friends would have us over for their Channukah celebrations and would attend our Christmas parties. We were neighbors and it felt wonderful to share happy times. So when those bracelets and that question came out on the culture: “what would Jesus do?” My 1st thought was “celebrate Seder. And Jesus came to Tabernacle among us for His life on earth dwelling in the flesh (tent body). The Passover is His death and redeeming of His people, He is our Unleavened Bread (Sinless) we are to consume, and the First Fruits of more to come! Those who hate Him and refuse to keep His commands.... Those who do not hear His voice and ignore His WORDS ..... Those who want prophets to prophecy deceits instead of God's Law... They warn over and over about the wicked and rebellious people who don't obey God's Laws. They do say that there will be a remnant left that will grab the hem (tzitzit) of a Jew and want to go with him. Or how they will say, " Come let us go up to the mountain of the LORD," and the LAW will go out from Zion to all the earth! Or how about what brings Him back to end the captivity of His people and regather us all to be with Him? It's found in Deuteronomy 30!

@JRRodriguez-nu7po National Israel was divided into 2 kingdoms, the North (10 tribes named and the South named Judah (2 tribes). Both went into captivity, but only 1 came back out. Since God had divorced the Northern Kingdom for greater transgression, He divorced them, gave them over to Assyria for 390 years. At the end of captivity, the Northern Kingdom never returned and had been scattered like seed among the Gentile nations surrounding them. It is why Jesus is looking for His LOST SHEEP.

I believe that the Sabbath was created well before Israel existed by God Himself and God rests on the 7th day.
I'm not sure why it is only applicable to Jews according to you or for what reason you think humans don't need rest from their work.
As a matter of fact, if you rest every 7th day a week you shorten your life expectancy by 7 years.
Strangely that is exactly the amount of Sabbaths you are supposed to rest.
Don't let your family, which is sacred, to God and your own wellbeing suffer.
All 10 commandments has to do with love.
Love for God, love for your neighbours, love for your enemies and finally God's love for His children by giving us a day to rest from our work and time to spend with family friends and most importantly, God.

Well... from the New Covenant perspective the apostles explicitly warn us not to lean on the old customs ....

Why do people call the feast days "Jewish " when scripture says in Leviticus 23 they are YHWH 's appointed times? The fall feast days are still a shadow of Yeshua's second coming. To see someone's obedience to Torah as legalism by other believers seems on the judgmental side.

Rom. 8:7 explains why: they have minds that hate God's authority. In the realm of traditional Christianity, that hostility shows itself in the theology that is demonstrated in the video. "Christians" reason that if they can create the justification that God's laws only applied to the Jew under the Sinai Covenant, it will excuse them from the duty of living by those laws today. They want all of the benefits of Christianity with none of the responsibilities.

After His rising, again he never says remember this day. Rather he says he wants to have Passover. Not to mention the date that Easter is celebrated is completely man made. Rome created the First Council of Nicaea, they created the date. Easter was created to unite the Roman empire not to glorify God.

It's clear you're being facetious and arguing in bad faith, but if you're really so jazzed up on enforcing the Old Covenant for modern day Christians, when was the last animal sacrifice you did? Because that's the only way you can atone for your sins under the Old.
Their is great purpose and value in the Old Covenant - within its historical perspective and origins... By analogy, without the microchip technology that was invented in the 50's, we wouldn't have Any of the technological advances that allow us to type and read these messages... but we don't use those same, original, outdated microchips just out of reverence, fear, or stubbornness...Or, the first plane the Wright brother's flew was an engineering marvel - but are you going to fly one today just to prove a point?
Christ explicitly and purposefully condensed nearly all of the Hebrew Bible (Torah/law, Prophets, and much of the Writings/Poetry) and all its commentary into two simple rules:
_“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”_
_Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’_
_This is the first and greatest commandment._
_And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’_
_All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”_
The New Covenant does not conflict with the Old - it's a fulfillment of it, which is completely upgraded and updated, just like software is. The New Covenant patches serious bugs that existed and developed in the Old. The only reason Non-Jews turn to the Old Covenant today is to try to score "extra points" with God, they're like hipsters who collect vinyl records and VHS tapes to separate themselves "from the herd" whom they look down on in disgust. They do it to feel "set apart" and super special - with is anathema to the core of Christ's radical message and ultimate sacrifice.

They are the 10 WORDS. Is not Jesus the WORD of God? What WORD is He? Is He the Deuteronomy WORD of God. Because the word "Deuteronomy" isn't there in Hebrew!!! It is the book of DEVARIM..... WORDS. Now if you are going to EAT of the TABLE of God, and Eat His WORD.... Jesus, it means you are eating the covenant meal, the Passover. The meal with the Passover Lamb, UNLEAVENED BREAD, and wine. You are coming to His Table to consume His covenant WORDS... Paul said...

In Matt 10:5-7 Jesus tells his disciples not to go to the Gentiles but rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. All throughout the gospels Jesus was teaching in either the Temple or synagogues on the Sabbath (Saturday). Why wasn’t he setting up churches and teaching there? Look at John 3:9-10 where John was denied entry to the church by Diotrephes (lover of Zeus). As a Christian I had to cut and paste the OT to fit with Christian beliefs, esp Psalm 119 where David tells of his love for God’s statutes, testimonies, commandments and law. Please explain why Psalm 1:1-3 or Psalm 94:12 don’t apply to me. Proverbs 28:9 - One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. The Law is a blessing not a burden. I posed these questions to my pastor and his response? “We think you’d be happier somewhere else”. Wow, ok. 20 years in that church and as soon as I started asking questions? BYE! So I left. Best decision I ever made. To God be the glory!
Would we drive on the freeway without driving laws? Why would we try to live without living laws? Makes no sense. Peace to all - or shall I say...Shalom!

Pastor Lance Replies - Linda, What about Acts 15 where the Jerusalem Council weighed in on all this and said that following Jesus and being right with God was not a matter of keeping the Mosaic Law? What about Acts 7 where Stephen addressed the Sanhedrin and said that their ancestors weren't able to keep the law? What about virtually all of the Apostle Paul's letters where he makes clear that the proper USE of the law is to be a tutor that brings us to Christ?
While the Law IS good and right, it cannot save us. It is a guide to show us what holiness looks like and that we can't perform it apart from the empowering of the Spirit of God, which comes through faith in Christ. Once we are connects to Christ, we live the law of love, which fulfills the law.

    • @lindabrowning1850
      @lindabrowning1850 4 місяці тому

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord I agree, the Law doesn’t save us. The Law is there to show us how to live. Prov 7:12 - My son, keep my words, and treasure my commands within you. Keep my commandments and live, and my Law as the apple of your eye. Matt 4:4 - Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Deut 8:3). Not once did Jesus say the Law is done away with - see Matt 5:18-19 - Until heaven and earth pass away, not one stroke will pass from the Law - not until everything that must happen has happened. Another question I had: how do you witness to a Jew? Lev 23 says to celebrate the Feasts FOREVER (v. 21). Christians come along saying ‘oh that’s all done away with’. It’s no wonder Jews don’t recognize Jesus! We did away with the Torah - no Law, no Feasts, no Sabbath, even changed His name for goodness sake! He was a Hebrew with a Hebrew name, Yeshua. Where is Christmas or Easter in the Bible? Lev 24:22 - You shall have the same law for the stranger and for one from your country; for I am the Lord your God.

Remember, jesus approached the samaritin woman, our father is seeking those who worship in spirit and truth. The torah is wonderful, but so all all the little brushstrokes in the prophets leading to jesus ministry on earth . Mary said, all nations will call me blessed. Paul was shook up after his conversion, and there was instruction, for him. He was jewi, but a roman citizen. I don't follow paul. As far as the law is concerned, like the sabbath, it is the spirit of the law that counts to God. Jesus explains this to the Pharisees in Matt 12:9-13, "is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" And Matt 23:27 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead man's bone and all unclean." That which you do in self-righteous motives are as filthy rags. But that which is done in faith and love is counted as righteousness. The Pharisees obeyed Moses laws and thought they were saved by their acts.

This is another false doctrine. The Pharisees did NOT obey Moses. That was Christ's whole problem with them. Just like "Christians" todays, they paid a lot of lip service to Moses as a prophet, but they rejected his authority in practice. Matt. 23, Mar 7, and Luk. 16 illustrates this. In Mar. 7, Christ outright accused the Pharisees of elevating their own traditions over what God commanded through Moses, and "Christianity" does the same thing today!

And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, 53 who have RECEIVED the LAW by the direction of angels and HAVE NOT KEPT IT.”
..... It was right after Stephen said this that they stoned him!
Here is a prophet discussing what is considered rebellious!

And note it on a scroll,
That it may be for time to come,

It helped me to know the 10 commandments are called the 10 WORDS in the original text. And the book of Deuteronomy is actually Devarim which means WORDS. Jesus is the WORD of God. Also read Psalm 119, it is the longest Psalm for a reason!

True they didn't always keep the commandments for they didn't have the Holy Spirit nor love and people who don't have love and the Holy Spirit can't always keep the law. "Without me you can do nothing." But there were rules they did keep like fasting, keeping the sabbath, my main point was 'Whatever they did do right, it was all for show to appear righteous.' That's why he called them white washed tombs. And my other point which you have agreed is self-righteous is not righteous at all. Then the spirit of the law is why you keep it, 'let say two men fasted, one to appear righteous, the other because He loved God and wanted to draw closer to God. They both kept the law, but only the one who did it with love counted.' The Pharisee and the Tax collector praying is another example of doing something with the right motive and as you said the right heart attitude.@@ShuwshanEmeq-xb3mk

As for the gifts of the spirit, it is the work of the Holy Spirit and He gives and use people as He sees fit, in the moment. My husband saw a demon and was told to cast it out, but it was a once off given, when necessary, not continually. You can't lose salvation, because salvation is eternal, someone cannot be unspiritual born but if you don't walk in faith and obedience then you can lose His blessings and protection.

Why does anybody get a divorce?
      Because their heart was hardened
And they were listening to the wrong
      Voices.

There is nothing wrong with God's law.The truth is that we are no longer under the curse of the law. It is impossible for the law to save us. The law condemns us to death.Unbelievers are under the curse of the law. Christ became a curse for us. Please Romans 3:19-31,Romans 8:1-10,Galations 3. The law is schoolmaster that points us to Christ. After being saved the law gives us a safe space in which to operate. The Lord Jesus said if we love Him we will keep us His commandments. The law is love and is summarised in" love your neighbour as youself. Romans 13.

Matthew 5:17-19: Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; but to fulfill. For truly I say to you until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
This verse seems to say that all believers should follow the laws in the OT. My understanding is that there are several Biblical covenants- Abraham, Noah, Moses, and others. Each one built on the previous ones. No covenant eliminated previous covenants, but built on previous covenants. The laws were commanded by God for our good and to glorify Him. That hasn’t changed. Jesus was an observant Jew. He was our model for how to live. The 10 Commandments and other laws were a guide for us to live honoring God. I think that God did not delineate OT believers from NT believers in wanting us to follow His laws. And the Sabbath was created at creation. God worked 6 days and rested on the 7th. Again, I think God was modeling for us what He wanted. For further discussion of this, Torah Class presents this well. Tom Bradford is the Bible teacher who is a believer and is not Jewish.

      Hi Diane Calderone 9772,
Yes, it is true that Jesus (Iesous - Greek, Yeshua - Hebrew) taught that He did not come to abolish the Law of Moses (Matthew 5:17).
The Law of Moses has not been abolished because those who have not accepted Jesus' atonement for their sins will be judged by the Law. This is what the Apostle Paul wrote: "For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law." (Romans 2:12 NKJV)
Those who have accepted Jesus' sacrifice for their sins are not obligated to observe the Law of Moses. While Jesus (Iesous - Greek, Yeshua - Hebrew) lived among His people, they were under the Law of Moses, as Galatians 4:4 states: "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law" (Galatians 4:4 NKJV)
In the next verse, the Apostle Paul explained why Jesus came: "to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons." (Galatians 4:5 NKJV).
The Apostle Paul wrote "Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good." (Romans 7:12 NKJV) In Romans 3:31 the Apostle Paul wrote: " Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law." (Romans 3:31 NKJV). This is because the Law of Moses is still in effect for those who do not believe that Jesus died for their sins. For those who believe that Jesus died for their sins are under God's grace. As I mentioned previously, for those who's sins have not been redeemed, they will be judged by the Law (Romans 2:12).
Although Jesus did not teach that the Law of Moses was to be abolished, the writer of the book of Hebrews wrote:
"In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away" (Hebrews 8:13 NKJV)
In the passage above (Hebrews 8:13), "the first" refers to the Old Covenant, which included the Law of Moses. The writer of the book of Hebrews wrote that this first (Old) Covenant has become obsolete. Hebrews 8:7-12 discusses why there was a need for a New Covenant.
While Jesus lived among His people, He was obligated to live by the Law, for if He hadn't, the Jews would have rightly condemned Him and stoned Him. Jesus taught the people that they should live by God's Word and not live by what the Pharisees and Sadducees were teaching them. Jesus also taught the people that by believing in Him, they would obtain eternal life (John 3:15-18, 36; John 5:24; John 6:47, etc.)
While Jesus lived among His people, He would have been stoned to death if He told the people they were not to observe the Law of Moses, and rightfully so. It was not until Jesus died for our sins (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Galatians 3:13; 4:4-5; 1 Peter 1:18-19; etc.) After Jesus rose from the grave He instructed His disciples to preach to good news to every nation (Matthew 28:19; 2 Timothy 4:2; Romans 10:15 - quoting Isaiah 52:7, etc.)
When asked which commandment of the Law is the greatest (Matthew 22:34-36), Jesus replied:
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ [Deuteronomy 6:5] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ [Leviticus 19:18] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV)
Jesus said that by observing the two commandments He cited, "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 22:40 NKJV). These two commandments sum up the entire Law. So, to observe these two commandments, one would in essence be observing the Law.
The Apostle John often mentioned that believers are to keep the commandments (1 John 2:3; 1 John 2:4; 1 John 3:24; 1 John 5:2-3). The question is, which commandments was he referring to? Was he referring to the entire Law of Moses? if so, why didn't the Apostle John ever say "keep the Law" rather than "keep His commandments"? The Apostle John was not referring to all the commandments included in the Law of Moses, he was referring to the following two commandments:
"And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment." (1 John 3:23 NKJV)
This is similar to what Jesus taught (Matthew 22:37-40).
In the Book of Acts, some Jewish believers believed that the Gentile converts should be circumcised (Acts 15). They argued ““Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” (Acts 15:1 NKJV). This question was brought before the leaders of the church, which included Paul, Barnabas, Simeon, Peter, Silas, James. The conclusion reached by the leaders was that the Gentile believers were not obligated to be circumcised, as prescribed by the Law of Moses (Leviticus 12:3; Exodus 12:48). Even before the Law of Moses was given, God commanded the male followers to become circumcised (Genesis 17:10). The only commandments that were agreed upon for the Gentile believers to follow were:
20 but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols [Exodus 20:3,34:17; Deuteronomy 5:7], from sexual immorality [Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 18:6:29; Deuteronomy 22:21], from things strangled [Deuteronomy 12:27], and from blood [Leviticus 17:10-12; 19:26]. … 29 that you abstain from things offered to idols [Exodus 20:3,34:17; Deuteronomy 5:7], from blood, from things strangled [Deuteronomy 12:27], and from sexual immorality [Leviticus 3:17, 7:26, 17:12-14, 19:26; Deuteronomy 12:16, 23, 15:23]. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. (Acts 15:20, 29 NKJV)
These commandments were suggested and agreed upon so that the Jewish converts (who were circumcised before believing that Jesus died for their sins) would not complain about the Gentile converts to Christianity, who were not circumcised. Notice that none of these commandments that were agreed upon included one that all male Gentile believers be circumcised.
The issue of the Jerusalem Council meeting was not specifically about whether or not the men needed to be circumcised before they could be part of the church. The meeting was held to determine whether or not the Gentile (non-Jews by descent) needed to become spiritual Jews to be part of the church, that is to say, should the Gentile converts need to obey the Law of Moses? Even though the text in Acts 15 does not specifically mention the Law of Moses, it does state:
10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”
      (Acts 15:10-11 NKJV)
The Apostle Paul taught the righteousness does not come through observing the Law of Moses. The Apostle Paul wrote:
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” (Galatians 2:21 NKJV)
      The Apostle Paul also wrote:
"knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified." (Galatians 2:16 NKJV)
Christians, those who believe that Jesus died for their sins, are to observe God's moral laws, as the majority of them are included in the New Testament, however, Christians are not obligated to observe the Ceremonial Laws, as they are not mentioned in the New Testament, which is the New Covenant. Keeping the Sabbath is not commanded anywhere in the New Testament, although all the other commandments are.
The Law of Moses was given to the Hebrews for a specific reason. The Apostle Paul explains the reason for why the Law of Moses was given:
19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our [g]tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. (Galatians 3:19-25 NKJV)

Why should we take books like Hebrews (who we aren't sure who wrote it) seriously? It didn't come from God or Jesus. Even books written after Jesus who Jesus didn't have input to, how can we take those seriously? The are written by man (imperfect) and thought of / made by man (imperfect). I agree that if it's one of Jesus' apostles it adds creditability, but it can still have faults. For example you said gifts can't be taken away. A child is a gift from God. We know the book of Job. What is given can be taken away. I think the only things that can be trusted is the old testament and 99.9% of the books about Jesus on earth. (Only because man wrote what he could remember or interpret and there is room for error)
Anyway I'd love an answer for this.
    Thanks

Pastor Lance replies - But it was humans that wrote the Gospels. Using your reasoning, how do you know they told the truth about Jesus? Humans wrote all the OT books too. How do you know they are God's Word?
The story of how the 27 books of the NT came together as recognized inspired Scripture is a matter of history we encourage you to take a look at. Either we accept the authority of the Early Church Fathers, or we end up looking to some other authority. It sounds a little like you are making yourself the authority on what books to accept. Be careful because once a person does that, then tend to only accept as scripture, what already aligns with their thoughts and desires. This is the grave error made by progressives.

A "Christian's" argument is immediately moot when they try to dishonestly assert that keeping the laws of God is "returning to Jewish customs". There isn't a single place in the Bible where it refers to God's laws as Jewish customs. Show me the passage that says Christ came to start a Gentile religion that is divorced from the Law, and i'll happily agree with you. Until then, i'll happily dismiss you as being a false teacher.

    FOREVER AND EVER:
9 That this is a REBELLIOUS people,
    LYING children,
    Children who WILL NOT HEAR THE LAW of the Lord;

We are not adopting jewish Customs...... There might be some who are adopting the specifically jewish customs but anyone who is keeping Sabbath on the seventh day and the festivals of God.... We are Doing what scripture tells us and going back to the ancient paths.... And these Sabbaths and festivals are not jewish they are Gods.... The Jewish people walked away from what God wanted them to do and how God want them to do it and they started going after the traditions and religions of man and the world. And so god said I detest your festivals because they were no longer his..... Those of us who are going after these ancient paths won't go after our god in spirit and truth..... We want to follow the lamb, Yeshua, wherever he goes....If they are keeping all the extra laws at the talmud outlines then maybe they are doing jewish things but those who are keeping sabbath and the festivals of God are doing what God himself has told us to do..... We are not to be following after the traditions of the world. That's what God is very specifically told us.....Yeshua It's simply Jesus's Hebrew name so don't be thrown by what we call him. We're just calling him by the hebrew name and mostly because like peter and paul told us there was going to be another gospel preached in these last days and if you look at the mainstream christian church you will see that other false gospel. So those who are following after the lamb wherever he goes, Those who are Searching out truth, and worship in god in spirit and truth..... We have been shown who Yeshua Really is and that he kept the seventy sabbath.... And he kept passover and first fruits and feast of trumpets and so on.... And so must we brother. It's the same covenant.Feeling difference with the renewed covenant of the New Testament is that it's written on our hearts, but it is the same law and the same.God who gave it to us..... So brother you are wrong

@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Let's ask another question? What do we truly mean when we pray for His Kingdom come? Are we praying for the absence of Laws? We see that in America today and everyone who is reasonable, wants our constitution and Laws enforced. Do you believe God's Kingdom Laws will be in place in the millennial reign? We know there is NO SIN in heaven? What does that mean from your perspective. From mine, it means no rebellion against God's Laws and perfect obedience! If that is not how YOU view God's Kingdom and us living again in His Holy presence, please enlighten me? Is there Sin in heaven? If not, why not practice here?

Which old covenant are you talking about? The Abraham covenant, the David Covenant, the Moses Covenant? I mean, the law was not nailed to the cross right, only the sacrifice for not keeping the law. Yeshua kept every single law otherwise he could not have been the sacrifice. If it was good enough for Yeshua to do such things and someone wants to be more like Christ then whats wrong with that? Even Peter kept Kosher after Christ rose and ascended to heaven. The moral teachings Christians say we need to keep, but not the Sabbath, when God clearly says that He made it for man way before he gave it to the Hebrews. If it was good enough for God to keep Sabbath, why would not his followers. This teaching sounds like anti antisemitism when people say the Jews, The Jews Festivals, etc, they were given by God in the Law therefore they are not Jewish, but God's. We all should understand only Christ, Yeshua, can ever be the complete sacrifice, and our complete righteousness, But why not try to even be more like Him?

Because "In Christ is neither Jew nor gentile" Gal 3:28. That means nothing our Messiah ever did or said is Jewish or gentile it is just God's word.
Christ kept Sabbath, kept the Lev 23 feasts, ate clean Lev 11, and if HE didn't HE sinned.
Unless we take up our cross and FOLLOW HIM we are not worthy of HIM Matt 10:38. Kids understand follow but adults don't so HE sent Peter to say ... Christ died for us leaving us an example that we should follow in HIS footsteps 1 Pet 2:21. Still knowing we'd miss it HE sent Paul saying Imitate me as I Imitate Christ 1 Cor 11:1. Still further HE sends John writing any who abide in Christ ought walk as HE walked 1 Jhn 2:6
Making how Christ lived "Jewish" or "gentile" invokes identity pride that gets people to judge which commandments apply based on their racial blood lines or more succinctly based on their flesh. The mind set on the flesh cannot please God for it does not submit to God's Law, indeed it cannot Rom 8:7
No one can walk like Christ is not entirely true because once saved and thru The Power of the Holy Spirit All things are possible thru Christ who strengthens us Phil 4:13
Let go of the doctrine designed to keep us from trying to follow HIM, Imitate HIM, and walk as HE walked....
It's not hard when we discover HIS Law is how to Love ... Matt 22:37-40
    Blessings

Jesus is the Word of God! John 1:1 Jesus words are plain Matt: 5:17 -not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished. If you don’t believe Gods Word, you don’t believe Jesus. You believe a religion taught by men. Just as the Jews did in Jesus day because they added to Gods Word. The church has taken away from Gods Word. Both of these things are sin.
Deut 4:2 The laws are Gods laws not Jewish laws. Jesus’ Bible was Old Testament, as was Paul’s and the disciples. You can not understand the new testament without the old.
Who is Jesus -Jesus is the Word of God.
John 14:15,21,23 Jesus taught the law! If You love me you will obey what I command!
If Jesus did not keep Gods law he is not the Messiah. If we do not believe Gods Word, we are not his disciples.
Why would you read these men’s words instead of Gods words. This is why Jesus warned us about false teachers. They want you to follow them instead of Gods Word. Don’t do it. The way is narrow and few find it, because they are following men’s doctrines instead of the Bible!
One more point. No where are we told to not keep the sabbath. Jesus did, Paul did, and if you read what God said about His sabbath, you will know how he feels about people who don’t keep it!! Believe what God says not any man.
