Sick Sick Sick "bass" riff. Of course, then there's Love is Alive......... Owwwwwwwww!
One of my favorite childhood memories is hearing this come on the radio back in the 70's. One of the coolest songs I grew up to. If you could put the word "fantasy" to music, this is what you'd get.
Me too...
Yes, and it was especially a treat to catch it while drifting off to sleep.
Well said
So true; it sounds so ethereal
Same for me
His other hit from the 70's is called "Love Is Alive".
Yesssss
💯
Yep! Same year, same chart position. They both hit #2 in 1976.
Fun times!
Yeah, dream weaver. Will always like this song. As an abused child, sleep and dreams got me through to the next day. To this day, I love to sleep and dream.
One of the most ethereal songs ever 💖
This was huge! All over the radio....!
The other big hit off this album was "Love is Alive." Check that one out. There's also a live version from "The Midnight Special" back in the '70s. Other than a guitar solo by Ronnie Montrose on "Power of Love," the entire album is keyboards and drums. Gary Wright was also a master with the Moog bass.
For sure!
💯
Yes Love is Alive Awesome, but this one yes 💯
I was about 10 or 11 when this was on “The Midnight Special”…..1st time I ever saw a “key-tar”
@Carl Adams Yessir
"After the record was released and became successful many people asked me what the song meant. I really wasn't sure myself and would answer "it was about a kind of fantasy experience... a Dream Weaver train taking you through the cosmos." But I was never satisfied with that explanation, and as years went by I began to reflect on what the song actually meant and then it came to me: 'Dream Weaver, I believe you can get me through the night...," was a song about Someone with infinite compassion and love carrying us through the night of our trials and suffering. None other than God Himself. - Gary Wright"
👍
❤❤
In this very spiritual song, the Dream Weaver gives the singer strength and connects him to a higher consciousness. On Gary Wright's official site, he explained:
"In 1972, my friend George Harrison invited me to accompany him on a trip to India. A few days before we left, he gave me a copy of the book Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. Needless to say the book inspired me deeply, and I became totally fascinated with Indian culture and philosophy. My trip was an experience I will never forget. During the early '70s while reading more of the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda, I came across a poem called God! God! God!. One of the lines in the poem referred to the idea of the mind weaving dreams and the thought immediately occurred to me, weaver of dreams... Dream Weaver. I wrote it down in my journal of song titles and forgot about it. Several months passed, and one weekend, while in the English countryside, I picked up my journal and came across the title 'Dream Weaver.' Feeling inspired, I picked up my acoustic guitar and began writing. The song was finished in an hour. The lyrics and music seemed to have flowed out of me as if written by an unseen source. After the record was released and became successful many people asked me what the song meant. I really wasn't sure myself and would answer 'it was about a kind of fantasy experience... a Dream Weaver train taking you through the cosmos.' But I was never satisfied with that explanation, and as years went by I began to reflect on what the song actually meant and then it came to me: 'Dream Weaver, I believe you can get me through the night...' was a song about someone with infinite compassion and love carrying us through the night of our trials and suffering. None other than God Himself."
I always felt a release of the hold of the troubles of the life of that day and of the hold the world had on me.😊
Thank you sir
Next on the Gary Wright list is "Love is Alive" from this same album. As others have pointed out, this was all electronic/keyboards except drums (and occasionally, guitar). Also as others have pointed out, Asia has an incredible smile. My heart skips a beat every time she flashes it!
Asia's smile at 2:19 says it all. The memories comes flooding back.....
One of the most iconic tunes embodying the entire 70s. Feel asleep as a kid listening to this song on the radio so many times. Give anything to go back to those days.
Great music will always bring people together, no matter the circumstance!!!!! I grew up on 70's music, which in my opinion, is the best decade of music. I remember when I first heard this on the "radio" when I was a young lad and I've loved it since. If I had a time machine, I'd go back and relive that decade all over again... lol.... Maybe a livestream on just 70's music??????? Love your channel Asia and BJ. Both of you give great insights on all your reactions.... Keep up the great work!!!!!! GREAT MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kevin, I say I wish there was a time machine at least 3 times a week back to the 70's. I sure do miss those days.
There was so much great music, and it was almost like we just expected that they were all going to be good. I graduated in 1972, and from the mid 60's to maybe 82, I thought it was the best music ever. After around 82 it seemed like music started falling off to me. I know there will be those that tell me I'm crazy, but that is just my opinion.
I have been watching you guys react for months now, and I have to say, every time I find myself watching Asia's face when I know a solo or a groove or a "note" is coming...her smile is infectious! Ya'll give us all a reason to smile, so thank you for what you do!
While you didn't know it, you heard Gary Wright about an hour ago playing electric piano on Harrison's My Sweet Lord.
Gary Wright is an American singer, songwriter, musician & composer best known for his 1976 hit songs "Dream Weaver" & "Love Is Alive". He was also responsible in helping establish the synthesizer as a leading instrument in rock & pop music.
I'm not sure he is an American so will check it out, saw him as an opening act back in the early 70's, he was really good on synth and love his vocal style!
the strings synth on the chorus is a bit obnoxious but the groove under it is really great.
He started with the group Spooky Tooth. Check them out as well. A British band started in 67.
Well Dagmar, Gary obviously went back in time to rerecord this song in 1972, the video says so, FFS.
Peaceful, soulful and a bit melancholy. Just sweeps me away....
Beautifully written and sung… Asia and BJ, you just heard a classic.. go for a long drive and turn this up! Escape from the day to day! Love is Alive next please! Welcome to the wonderful 70’s🎶🎶
This song in addition to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen were featured in the movie Wayne's World and became very popular again in the 90's.
You two have no idea how happy you make my heart every time I see you smile when listening to a song grew up with. Seeing this music live on through you both is what its all about. Thank You! I appreciate you both so much .. your smiles are contagious - xo
He played all the instruments on the album.
Nice throw back for me.👍👍💙💙
Great singing and a great song. I have loved this song sense it came out.
Gary Wright was the composer, keyboarder and leader of the British Rock Band Spooky Tooth in the 60ies and 70ies, saw this band with Gary in about 2006.
I’ve always thought of this song to believe it means that The Dawn maybe coming Soon? There’s still maybe some time? Meant to me was he wanted to remain in his dream state not wanting to waken so soon ? Where you could just let your mind cross the highway’s of Fantasy and help you forGet the day’s pain” and we all understand that part of our selves that we wish we could just stay in that dream state and not even think about waking to have to go back to our stresses and worries of what tomorrow brings? Like paying your Bills, trying to stay on top of the coming worries of the day of another broken heart or promise’s that you have to keep or deadline’s or how your going to keep moving forward through life’s challenges “.
That’s what I always thought of it was a song that was where you could just stay there and just let the Dream Weaver keep weaving you through a place of peacefulness and beauty and Fantasy 🕊️🌖🌌🌃🪽
Asia's reaction is real..... an instant smile as she sails away on a mind journey.... and BJ floating along behind her..... a great song from a magical time.
Asia digging the vibe...that's exactly how we did 50 years ago, girl. OMG, 50 years ago 1972? JHC! So glad I grew up with this music, developing my love for music that I love even more 50 years later.
This song permeated my youth! Played heavily throughout the mid to late 70s during a time when we were all looking up at the sky wanting to travel to the stars or see a UFO (all over pop culture at the time) and this song took you there. Still does like no other!!
I forgot about the UFOs 🛸! As soon as we learned to drive, my friends and I spent many fun evenings chasing down UFOs 🤣🤣🤣. Fun times 💞💞💞
@@juliewhite7469 wasn’t that the best?!!
We were very lucky, weren't we?
Love your name ❤ (my middle name is Annette)
@@juliewhite7469 we sure were! The songs were the best on history. Not too many Annette’s out there! ❤️☺️
Wow, Asia can really sing! If she sang this song, I'd buy it!!! 😉
Great song 🎶
Gary Wright
Love Is Alive
You two keep stumbling into great music from my childhood. Bless your hearts and minds with this journey.
Great people you both are. Take care and keep enriching your lives with this musical journey. ☺
My absolute favorite song🎵
His voice is amazing!!
Listening to this classic Rock Song in music city Tennessee 🎶 When Gary Wright released this song for over 10yrs radio stations was still playing this great #1 song!! Enjoy
2024 enjoying
This was one the great 70’s songs you’d hear, late at night, playing on your FM station. Memories.
Seeing him perform this song on Midnight Special WITH NO GUITARS blew all our minds as kids. Later, hearing this come on the car radio late at night on a long drive was pretty magical, too.
Al Stewart , Gary Wright , you are listening to some of the best music of Rock and Roll!
Thanks! I haven't heard this since the 70's when I was in high school. I loved this song and I still do. Some people suggested you should react to his other big song "Love Is Alive" and I heartily agree.
One of my favorites from my childhood!!!!
used to hear this in the back of my moms car on road trips back in the day..the bass line always stuck in my head
Love is Alive is another amazing Gary Wright song!!
"Art is not there to give you things to observe
Art gives you things to Feel" David Hayden 2020
Psychedelics were so much fun back then.
🤯
I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s and 70s. What an Era of greatness!

This is one of my favorite songs. I'm still holding onto the cassette.

Happy hour begins with A and B.
This is the song you play when your driving down the road with your windows down and feeling the vibe of the song 🤗
Yes. Check out Love is Alive. This was one of my first singles. Dream Weaver and Love is Alive on the B side. Doesn't get any better!
I used to roller skate to this song when I was just a kid .Thank you for the memories .
Great song! Y'all Dug way back in the archives...good job❤ Great memories!
I always think of the movie Wayne's World. That was the song when we first seen Cassandra
Shwing
I love how Asia has this serious, quizzical look on her face, but as soon as the first chorus starts, the big smile kicks in! Perfect!
So smooth beat ,great song

Yeah the dreams will get you through forget about tomorrow; dreams do that what a blessing!
Really enjoyed this song!! Haven't heard it in a long long time. Good memories! Enjoyed your comments as well!
This is just one of those dreamy, gorgeous songs takes you to another level
This is just one of those songs you have to like.
when the goin gets tough one must find it within to carry on in the face of seeming insurmountability...persisting and persuing your dream requires commitment and devotion...visualization is key...Thank you guys for this heavenly music
Great classic, about connecting with your higher conciousness.
To me, this song is about someone in severe turmoil. If you listen to the lyrics, he wants to forget about today's pain, and "leave tomorrow behind", as if he doesn't want to face another day. I had alot of family issues, as a child in the 70s, and that's how I related to this song. My dreams were my only escape. But it turned out alright, tomorrow's often not as bad as you think it will be, when you're in a bad situation.
1st dance in Jr high School 7th grade, awesome cool song yay, good review 👏😎👌🎤🎸
Back when radio stations went off the air sometime between 11PM and 2AM, any radio station worth it's salt had this as the last song played before going off the air.
Such a good old song..listened as a kid..memories...
WoW…it’s been years since I’ve heard this song. Tomorrow I’ll have to dig the album out for a fresh listen.
You will groove to his song LOVE IS ALIVE
saw him open for Frampton back in 76 .he was in a band before called Spooky Tooth
You have to here the band " 10 CC - I'm Not in Love"
RIP Gary Wright 🙏
Next Love is Alive 🔥
Another song from my youth that helped me though life THANK YOU !
My all time favorite song ever!!!!
Gary Wright and George Harrison were Great friends. Great Song.
Took me right back to 15. 😁❤️
Always loved this one !
Perfect hat choice BJ! Go Braves!
The "Dream Weaver" in this song represents a "Dream Catcher" from the Native American Dream Catcher. U both should see the other videos to this song, & it's truly AMAZING to this when the weEd kicks-in. U both will thank me later, truest me.
RIP Gary Wright.
This channel brings me back yo
Listened to this 1000 times but not in 30 years. Lmao
I know this song from way back as a child but all I can think of now is Wayne's World.
This is a song of great imagination 😌👌💯
THE PEOPLE VS LARRY FLINT COMES RIGHT TO MIND 🥲
My first, best boyfriend used to make everybody in the car be still whenever this song came on, so I could bliss out. Lordy be, so long ago...
BJ has a great smile! You both do, but I just particularly noticed BJ's great smile in this one (maybe not seen as often).
Hope you're both doing good as can be!
All aboard !!!!!!!
For an experience you will never forget, try another Wright: Now that you've done Gary Wright, it's time for Stevie Wright!
"Evie (Parts I, II, and III)" A 1974 epic story of Lust, Love, and Loss... Infatuation, Bliss, and Sorrow are a few clicks away! ;-]
never get tired of hearing arp synth strings,,,,soooo rich
I saw Gary Wright open for Peter Frampton in 1975 and 1976 when both were in heavy play on the radio.
That would be on my list to go see if I could time travel .
love is alive is another good song by him, its a bit funky. check it out
Gary was going to do a free concert at a beach in Hawaii when he ran over his dog coming to the party. Bummer, we had bricks of pot and kegs of beer ready. That day was a massive BUMMER!
One of my all time favs!😌
Cool song, not many quite like it. Another one of my favorites is "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson
He's trying to forget about the Troubles of the day and go into a dream almost like an out-of-body experience where he just soars into this sky. And all his troubles are gone away into the Dreamweaver A happier place
This song falls under the category 'Trippy'. Thank you!!!
You must hear Love is Alive.
Just an emotional feeling
Gary Wright was a big favorite of mine growing up in the late '70s. He's song was great.
He was in spooky tooth and he with ringing and solo career
This is probably my favorite song of all time, at least top 3 for sure. In fact my screen name on some of my social networks is Dreamweavr72
YOu are both great.. Love your reactions.. keep it coming..
