How did you find out about this kind of career/this particular job? I’m thinking about transitioning to non-clinical medicine but I have no idea where to even start.
Hi Mel, I first spoke to people I knew who were working in tech and asked them to introduce me to people in the health tech space. I started networking and learning about different companies and the clinical/medical roles they hired for. I then reached out to people who were leading these teams to learn more and ask if they are hiring! I think first you need to figure out what you want out of your career and where would be the best place to learn and develop yourself. I know it seems scary at first, but once you can write down your vision for your career/future it will give you a good idea on where to start :)
I looked up roles I was interested in doing and researched how much the market was paying them. I matched my role and responsibilities to those roles and negotiated that I should be paid X amount as this is what other similar companies were paying for this role. I also made a list of the value of my expertise and experience and past accomplishments that would dictate my future accomplishments. Hope that helps!
Your videos have inspired me to look into tech as a future healthcare worker. I'm applying to nursing schools right now, and I'm wondering what role in healthcare tech that I could do alongside nursing. Are there any spaces that would provide any skills on how to create products for pre and post partum (im going into obstetrics), private practices, preventative healthcare, etc. I eventually want to own my own practice and I just want to know what jobs in tech (healthcare or not) would help the most. I haven't found much info on what I'm trying to do, so do you have any recommendations?
Hi Jala, I'm excited for you! There are so many health tech companies out there and it will require a bit of research to find what you're looking for. A good start is looking at Crunchbase or StartupHealth. They have a database of health tech companies that can give you a general idea of what's out there. If I were you I would start off with an internship or a research role at these companies just to learn more about product development and the business. I think this will be very valuable for your future career!
Your videos are simply awesome. Working for health tech has been my dream from many years. Thanks for your info. Love from India .
Thank you, Anil. I'm absolutely sure you can make your dream a reality. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
You are doing a great job exploring and sharing info with us. And giving a great vision and hope to healthcare workers interested in health tech
Thank you, Aishwarya! I'm sharing what I wish was available to me during my search.
