I believe if the dead could come back for 1 minute and say what they would do differently they would say they wouldn't spend even one second on worry. Knowing inevitable disappearance into eternal nothingness is ahead...worry in life as a thing is truly absurd

While worrying without doing anything smart may damage or kill you, healthy worrying wakes you up and do smartest thing you can think of to remedy the situation you are facing. That is why the Creator in his holy book Quran says "Why do not use your brain?"

Meaning is living -plain and simple. Purpose is just another concept that keeps most people searching for meaning instead of being aliveness itself.

Searching for meaning is no different than searching for anything. Searching for something means seeking what is not present, and implies dissatisfaction with the present moment, and the act of searching means missing what is present, while craving what is not present. This is suffering. Searching is suffering. Acceptance is the way to enlightenment.

Camus one of my favourite writers. Thank you for a refreshing n easy to understand narrative on Camus philosophy of life. In the end of his book The Plague he said, "There is more to admire in man than to despise." What an optimistic view of an absurd world we live in!

I adored the novel THE PLAGUE. I don't think it gets enough recognition. Camus was a craftsman; his prose at once is tight but fluid. In addition to the philosophical aspects I appreciate his artistry. Great book.

We had many classes and lectures, and even had a Bonafide Buddhist monk from Tibet give a lecture. I've even been to Tassajara Hot Springs and Buddhist retreat in the Carmel Valley, so I have seen about everything in this world. Nothing can possibly surprise me. Well, in fact, everything is pretty boring and predicable. Back a few years ago, I took LSD with MDMA. Now, that was entertaining, but temporary. Then back to the mundane. Always back to the same grey, bleak, boring life. Pretty lame, really. Never any good news, or a nice surprise. Oh well. Tune in. Turn on. Drop out.

This is wonderful! I have cobbled a similar philosophy together on my own. I dragged my ass through misery for many years before I discovered Joseph Campbell and many alternatives to what I learned as a child. One thing I value most that wasn't here is the importance of good, supportive relationships. Learn how to care for myself and others and find others who can do the same. And the Cysiphis myth represents hell until one accepts it. My rock has tumbled many times yet there's always a life lesson in the experience.

It's a great statement. Some people live life for love and some people live life for money. Then some people live outside the box. At the end of the day. It's good to think about what others think about you but you damn sure don't dwell on it. That's the biggest thing that technology has brought us. People now base their value in themselves on how others look at them. That pretty much is the motor behind social media. Just live your life and be passionate and most importantly be true to yourself. 😊

It's amazing how much Camus' ideas, at least how presented in this piece, ring of Christian thought. 'Embrace suffering, embrace struggle, absurdity, don't dispair'. The question is is it possible without God? Not the marvel comic superhero god that most imagine. Is it possible without the God of your consciousness.

Are those who once lived dead forever? No, they still live through their influence over our lives.
Do the creators of a thing such as a house non-existent? They could not have been non-existent if they created a house. So, who created the earth, the universe and it's planetary movements? Does something which is unseen non-existent even though it's influence is still existent?

We created thus illusions during human development and progression and maybe thats why we don't ask such questions as a way to escape it and the tool we use to escape such questions is materiality , the things that entertain us but we can live without .
But if all thus material things leave tomorrow, humanity is depressed and possibly extinct...

The philosophy of Albert Camus is nicely summarised. However, I feel that the last part, "Absurdism: A double edged sword" is uncalled for. It appears as if you tried to append your own little philosophy at the end!

    Camus' 3 options:
    1. I sometimes envy those who can adopt this, but they can be some of the most dangerous people alive. Besides, I'd rather be miserable seeking truth than happy and ignorant.
    2. No thanks. But I understand the desire if you're not present.
    3. Absurdism is merely a repackaging of Buddhistic thinking: be present. Flow. Surrender and enjoy.

Surely if something has no meaning then it cannot be absurd. By implication, "absurd" is a judgment indicating some meaning. Sisyphus was condemned. He was being tortured. His fate had meaning. Unpleasant meaning but meaning all the same.

14:57 This guy claims no philosophy explains life better than religion and should adhere to one but he suggests people should keep exploring why we exist. Religions basically are against the later, they claim a diety is the reason why you exist and everything you can't make sense of it is god's mysterious ways and should be left at that. Start making sense, dude.

The universe may not provide me with meaning, but if I approach life with lebenslust, meaning will appear. There are plenty of reasons to put our hearts into . Global warming is just one such cause. Will we join hands in this struggle? It might feel futile in its enormity, but but together we will achieve CLIMATE STABILITY. Setting up the plan and then following through. Isn't that meaning enough?
