Why does Hinata say "ichi, ni, san, shi,..." when counting members of the audience in Haikyuu? He says "shi" for the number 4. (UA-cam video: "Hyper Projection Engeki "Haikyuu!!" Itadaki no Keshiki", at time marker 4:48.)
I came here because Duolingo introduced counter words without mentioning that's what they were. But now I'm even more confused. Is "nin" people? Or do we still need "hito" ("san nin hito")?
こんにちは、裕子先生。I find it rather interesting that 1 person and 2 people have different readings. Is there a cultural or social reason why that is? Was it a sign of disrespect to use いちにん or ににん?
Nekuraさん、if you are answering the question I posted at the end of the lesson, いいえ、いません is good enough as a response to the question. If you meant to say "I don't have Japanese friends (friends who are Japanese people)" then 日本人の友達がいません is better. Hope this helps!
Yuko sensei, I love your method of teaching Japanese. You make it easy to understand the Grammer and construction of sentences.
I just learned about different counters today from my textbook so this is the perfect timing! Thank you!
Isabelleさん、I'm glad the lesson was timely and useful. 😊
We have a quiz on counters tomorrow and this suddenly came up on my feed. You’re the best, Yuko-sensei!
Good luck with the quiz! がんばってください。😊

Good morning 🌻
Yuko sensei, or anyone really 😅, what if I want to say “there are four men and one car”? How would I say it in Japanese?
I’m looking for a lesson on locators, do you have anything ?
Check her @YukoSensei Playlist, this one:
Japanese question words - Where? どこ DOKO
Do you have a lesson on locators
Too many numbers in one lesson ,Yuko Sensei. Congratulation on your English.

I am a Bengali speaking Indian and want to appear N5 Dec 2021 .Please provide the list of Kanji for N5
Good luck 👍🏻
I wonder why we never say "shi ni n" for 4 people, but I bet it's because it's too similar to something offensive ha ha :D
Great lesson!
it's because shi means death as well
谢谢老师我是伊帆我是土耳其人
Honto ni yaku ni tatsu! Arigatou!
How would you say 20 ?
Oh... that's why...
That makes sense now... 🤔
Hai, San nin gurai imasu
日本に友達が0人います。😢
It's like the Japanese just love making everything as complicated as possible
Its like americans with slang: only you use or people that areused to it ... so its not impossible for smart people to learn languages* ....
Oh no...
いいえ 日本の友達がいません
sad xD

ともだちの日本人がなにもいません。
