What a joke he is to Canadians and the world. His Temporary tax cut ends before he implements his permanent tax hikes. He believes Canadians are naive to fall for this insult.
Don’t get me wrong, that’s fun and cute for consumers in the short-term. But if this measure remains until the election in the hope that it propels him to victory, that will be incredibly harmful to the average consumer. In that time, grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, etc. will have all adjusted their prices by the equivalent percentage of the tax that was removed because they are aware that consumers would have been willing to pay that price. Then, if (when) the tax returns, everything is going to be 10-15% more expensive. This is an obvious political tactic, as Trudeau likely has zero genuine interest in maintaining the measure in the long-term; he absolutely needs the GST/HST revenue to continue funding the welfare state into which he has effectively turned Canada. Moreover, ramifications for Canadian consumers are equally obvious, as basic economics dictates that businesses will simply charge consumers what they would have otherwise been willing to pay (i.e. price + taxes).
That is his desperate move to please voter in the next election. If he and liberal party has strong momentum, why do they introduce this break. He also craved out to stupid NDP pressure about GST concession .. Why don't Trudeau to cancel carbon taxes permanently . Simple

What about help for Canadians that are on disability? Although, I am luckier than most, I do receive a LTD benefit from my employer. Unfortunately, the amount I get is based on my earnings when I first injured myself. Prices of everything has gone up astronomically since then. I've had to stop driving my car because I can't afford to drive anymore. I eat once a day, with maybe a snack in between. There is NO savings left and my line of credit is maxed. While I understand everyone is being stretched, maybe stop and look at a group of people that will soon be homeless due to extreme price gouging in every sector. I wish I could go to work and fix my finances myself but solutions must be found and I don't think it's with either of these 3 clowns.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s fun and cute for consumers in the short-term. But if this measure remains until the election in the hope that it propels him to victory, that will be incredibly harmful to the average consumer. In that time, grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, etc. will have all adjusted their prices by the equivalent percentage of the tax that was removed because they are aware that consumers would have been willing to pay that price. Then, if (when) the tax returns, everything is going to be 10-15% more expensive.
This is an obvious political tactic, as Trudeau likely has zero genuine interest in maintaining the measure in the long-term; he absolutely needs the GST/HST revenue to continue funding the welfare state into which he has effectively turned Canada. Moreover, ramifications for Canadian consumers are equally obvious, as basic economics dictates that businesses will simply charge consumers what they would have otherwise been willing to pay (i.e. price + taxes).

What about help for Canadians that are on disability? Although, I am luckier than most, I do receive a LTD benefit from my employer. Unfortunately, the amount I get is based on my earnings when I first injured myself. Prices of everything has gone up astronomically since then. I've had to stop driving my car because I can't afford to drive anymore. I eat once a day, with maybe a snack in between. There is NO savings left and my line of credit is maxed. While I understand everyone is being stretched, maybe stop and look at a group of people that will soon be homeless due to extreme price gouging in every sector. I wish I could go to work and fix my finances myself but solutions must be found and I don't think it's with either of these 3 clowns.
