  • A beginner’s guide to contemporary dance. Is it one style or many? How does it relate to other kinds of dance? Does it have a particular meaning?
The Planet Dance films are subtitled in Lithuanian, Taiwan Mandarin, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Greek as well as English, and we are always keen to hear suggestions for subtitles in more languages.
Lithuanian subtitling and voiceover were commissioned by the Lithuanian Dance Information Centre (LDIC). Lithuanian-voiced versions of all the Planet Dance films, with narration by Valerijus Kazlauskas, can be viewed on the LDIC UA-cam channel. Taiwan Mandarin subtitles were co-produced by National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying). A fully Swedish-language version with narration spoken by Björn Kjellman has been commissioned and co-produced by Skånes Dansteater and can be viewed on their ‘Skanesdansteater’ UA-cam channel.
We are grateful to our brilliant translators: Beata Stankevič, Jih Wen Yeh, Meng Yu Lai, Sabrina Castillo Gallusser, Maryse Landry and Elisa Charrier, Katharina Rufener, Shuko Noguchi, Kei Miyata and Penelope Iliaskou.

Theatrical, Social AND Ritual forms are the three poles of dance. Not mentioning the Modern Dance heritage of Contemporary Dance is a major oversight. But....pretty good overview.

Well, I was getting all happy and thinking I could show this to my HS class...and then there was the drawing on the ballet man and woman. Oh well. I like the vid, tho.
