It’s a shame we ever let advertising make us want small luxuries in the first place. When you do the math most of them are very financially irresponsible even for the people making 6 figures.

@@JeffyPDiddyAnd we should all live in a tent in the woods because who need civilizations and society anyways right? Yes marketing has an impact on many, but small luxuries can be a great asset to the average individual. For example, owning an iPhone can be a bit costly for some, but the amount of ways in which u can utilize your small luxury to produce a higher net income for yourself, and in turn produce a better quality of life, is essentially infinite. Please stop with the market is evil viewpoint. Makes you sound slow to anyone with a functioning brain considering only true brain dead individualsallow something as simple as an online/tv advertisement to force them into buying something.

Growing up made me realize everything in this world is about money. It really is the only thing that matters to people. All things have pretty much gotten worse in some way culturally, socially, economically, healthcare, education, and with products as well since at least 2000. But the good news is that we have more money than ever.

it's always been that way but it's doubly true today. anything you can solve yourself is going to save you thousands of dollars over your life. car repair is now so expensive it's worth going and getting a formal training from a technical school to be able to fix the stuff yourself.

Always been that way man. BUT. Our parents and grandparents got too used to being able to afford for others to do things for them since they grew up into adulthood in a "kick the can down the road" economy, which is why WE never learned how to do stuff. Now we are in an economy where you HAVE to know how to do things but all we were taught was that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell and that a^2+b^2=c^2.

I agree. A lot of companies over inflated their services or products to maximize their profits. Take clothing for example. the price to make them and the price they sell them for is an insane gap. A lot of times the stuff you do buy is just dissapointing. there have been times where i thought i paid for a good quality product and then later it just breaks down and doesnt work anymore smh.

Reminds me of the time I was assigned to clean all the VIP rooms during a big football game at the university. Almost all the booths were empty from before the game started , save for empty bottles of expensive wine. I spent my shift chilling in what felt like a penthouse, zero investment in the sport but it opened my eyes a bit to what it’s like to have too much money

  • @Xerophun

It's all cyclical. Things are expensive because everybody wants it. Everybody wants it because people are trying to make more money. Everybody is trying to make more money because everybody wants expensive stuff.
There's no good answer for solving it. Eventually we're going to have to come to terms with less.

It astonishes me the amount of money people will spend on pizza delivery. Being the Dominos delivery boy, I see people ordering one large pizzas sometimes for over $30 which is insane. I never really did delivery for anything before I worked at Dominos but after realizing the amount of money people spend I will never order delivery for anything ever. Unless I'm just stupid rich one day like most of the customers that order at our store. I live fairly cheap and you gotta fight for those lower prices sometimes man, shit just goes up. Like I do the mega cheap $25 oil changes to my car at Walmart but I hear mfs doing over $100 for oil changes. Like that's ridiculous, even for full synthetic. Anyways great video bro, awesome to hear about Taylor's dad and some friends reaching out, that warmed my heart

Our generation has been sold short on everything quality-wise, for an even higher price than what we'd normally have to pay.
Whether it's cars, houses, jobs, video games, movies, restaurant food portion sizes, etc. we've all been given the short end of the stick while being expected to pay the price of a stick that's twice as big

  • @irvinsandison

The rich people stuff (starting from a suprisingly low price range) isn't really about the quality and more about the "experience", which is really just a fancy way of saying it's all about boasting and showing off and feeling better about yourself - even though you just paid $90 for a few leafs on a plate with a tiny slither of meat. Like it's pretty obvious most mid-range restaurants are gonna be better (health-wise and quality-wise) than a fast food place, but past that kinda mid-range level it's really not worth it and, like you say, a lot of it is just a scam.
Like another commenter said, a great life skill to learn is to learn how to do things yourself, and the same would go for cooking. You can make one of the best meals in the world that's a lot healthier for you and just flat out tastes a lot better than those mega-expensive restaurants for like a few dollars, especially when you buy long-to-perish foods in bulk. I've just started properly learning how to cook (and I mean cook from scratch, not just throwing in a pre-made packet of something) and it's so liberating, even though so far I've only made like one dish. A lot of dishes only take like half an hour to an hour to make as well so it doesn't even take up too much of your time.

  • @funjunkyy

This always get mor expensive. Since at least three generations prices go up, nothing new there. Its part of growing up realizing this. Instead of focuasing on the obvious scams of life, focus on the oppurtinities. With all the damage the internet has done to society (addiction, division), we should not forget the opportunities that come with it, that previous generation did not have. Its a new goldrush. You can make a living and even get rish, by talking about your passion in front of a camera from home, which can be deeply fullfilling as well. You can also learn every skill you could possibly need to get a lot of money over the internet. Instead of complaning over prices, concentrate on getting out of the rat race and getting a lot of money.

Let's call games exactly what they are. Digital 3rd places with no food or drink. They pay for the servers, they pay for the development of the game, they pay for updates, all that adds up. Back in the day game companies were small, now they are bigger they require more to keep going. Think about it. If there is an additional 20% on profit on the current value of the game that's 1/5th of the price. And considering demand isn't going to change, they can price their games whatever and still make major mullah.
