Very interesting way of telling a story. Kind of like several friends telling you, personally, about a story they heard, and they keep interrupting eachother but it adds to the beauty of storytelling. So far I'm really intrigued!

I was not sure what to expect. Once CritRole made me aware of Midst, I decided not to check out their content to go in blind in this collaboration. I was immensely drawn into the story telling, and the voice actors are fantastic. I'm very intrigued and will absolutely go support Midst to see what other stories they have to tell. Thanks CritRole, and Midst, very fun product.

I don't know how possible it would be given youtube's limited subtitling tools, but I'd love to see a CC option that includes descriptions of the soundscape as well. The effects bring a lot to the experience, even just a few scenic tags (i.e. children laughing, town crier barking indistinctly, heavy wet footfalls, etc) would greatly supplement the already impressive narration.

    • @disasterjones5798
      @disasterjones5798 Рік тому +11

@@ashusikildigir7170 I actually saw on the more recent episodes that they have intercuts of environmental descriptions, music titles, and beat changes between the dialogue captions! They can be kind of hard to miss in some places, and might need to loop back to catch em if you're not a fast reader, but it's certainly a substantive upgrade regardless. The crew they contracted did a good job with the limits of the medium.
The real issue is that the mechanics aren't there under the hood yet on YT's end. Once we can have multiple text channels per sequence, that'll make captioning and alt text a lot easier to integrate.

I like stories with strange worlds that don't follow logic as we understand it. Stories like House of Leaves and The Death Gate Cycle. A world where day and night move as separate "entities" rather than a Sun based orbital cycle definitely falls into that category. Very Interesting.

At first I was thrown off by the fact that three people follow up on each other so quickly as they tell the story, but it actually grew on me and by the end of the episode I enjoy how these three different voices come together. It is hectic but brings so much colour to story telling in general. The background music is both soothing and intriguing not to mention that the visuals in this episode are beautiful with so much detail and colour, moving items that keep catching my eye during the story telling. I love how intimate the dialogue of this is while not going off into explanations or tangents! The world exists, everyone there knows what they're doing (for the most part, Lark seems to be at least confident) and the horrors of the landscape remind me of The Magnus Archives or Welcome to Nightvale. The whole thing has an aura of tense air but also the narration is a calm declaration of what is happening as they are not the people in the story but merely sharing the events as they happen. Also the little bits of humor really made me chuckle ("It's cow-like. It shares features with cows, namely eyes.")

I feel like the transition between the voices is way to sharp, like they tried to leave but a nanosecond of breathing room, and to me its quite jarring. I sort of feel like im being thrown around while listening between the different narrators, since the tempo of the dialogue is quite quick already. There should be a micro pause after punctuation when switching between the narrators, just like they do it when reading a longer segment.
To be clear, the tempo of the narration is great, the read of individual narrators is great, its the edit between the narrators is what i have an issue with.

I loved every single second of this, it was _so_ immersive! I already can't wait for the next episode! This kind of storytelling is just incredibly interesting!

I love seeing things like this! Radio/Audio Dramas are been something I'm trying to work on and want to get into really badly! It's amazing to see such a well executed tale in this style. If a little intimidating because I worry for my own quality

Loved it,but I don’t know if it’s just my listening devices but the constant background music is way to overpowered ….maybe just turn it down a notch or two on the mixer

So happy to see this awesome podcast find a home here and that so many new people are being introduced to it! I've been following Midst since it first launched and it quickly became my favourite. It was tied with Magnus Archives for a while but the second season just blew me away. Can't wait to re-listen here on UA-cam, the visuals on this are amazing!

The idea of this is so interesting, and I wanted to like this SO MUCH. I'm not sure if it's the bg sounds/music being a bit loud, or the narration style, but it was incredibly hard for me to follow. I'll definitely keep trying, the cadence of the storytelling is really fascinating.

Really enjoyed the visuals as well as the Good Captions. I am sadly out of the habit of engaging with audio-only stuff, so having something to do with my eyeballs makes me much more likely to keep up with this.

i love it, but the back ground music and effects is a little distracting, competing with the narration... so that's a point of improvment

loved it! the narration is so dynamic- i love the art that supports the story and the sound effects as well. it reminds me of radio theatre. one small request is to make sure the voices are slightly more forward in the mix so folks who have a harder time processing sound have enough distance between the narrators' voice, the music and ambient sound effects 😊

    This seems so fun!
To be honest, at first I thought the method was a "Finish This Sentence" style. One narrator perhaps sends a part of the story as a message to another narrator, that narrator sends a continuation message to the next, and so on. Thus, the narrators trying not to make the story too wacky while just making it wacky enough to try and throw off the next narrator just to see what they come up with.
That doesn't seem to be the case, but even so that same feeling is contrived and it's SO fun. Oh also, THE MUSIC IS AMAZING
