I love this Tokina lens, and I'm considering buying it. I prefere it over the sigma, much more character and contrast compared to sigma. Great video, I'm glad I found it. Nice shooting!
My eyes may trick me but i prefer the tokina! Nice video, only thing i didnt like was the halo around objects against the sky. Did you mask the sky to make it bluer?
The square flare happens do the aperture circle inside the lens (if you have lens at home and change the aperture you will notice that the stuff that rotates inside the lens to allow more or less light are perfectly circle at all times hence you get those round flares) however some lens are designed in a way that's not perfectly circle and it makes these square looking flares, cheers!
Dumb question here, but the art lenses say they are designed for APS-C sensors. Do you use any kind of adapter with them on the 4.6k or do they cover the sensor fine with the EF mount?
Nathan Follmer hi. There is vignette at 18mm when using the full 4.6k. I don't see many people complaining about it, but I definitly get CA and vignette at 18mm
davidevans000 would you say it's unusable? Just trying to put together a decent lens pack for this camera. Your video looks amazing, so I'm hoping the Sigma will work. I'll probably only shoot at 1080p and 4k anyway.
Nathan Follmer it's perfectly usable. A lot of people use the combo ursa mini 4.6k and sigma 18-35. But it's something to consider. Don't forget that even if you shoot at 1080p, you are using the full sensor, unless you window the sensor like when using raw
@@davidevans000 It's actually only 2.6 up to about 35mm, from there it's 2.8 up to 70mm. This is why the Japanese version doesn't even state 2.6-2.8 on the lens barrel...they mark it as a straight 2.8 since the 2.6 range is so small. Regardless, incredible lens...mine is on the "Untouchables" list.
Hey there. Was this stabilised in any way? The footage looked shaky but in that good way that handled film used to be. Doesn’t have the floatiness of stabilisation but doesn’t seem to have that horrible jitter of regular handheld video.
Definitely prefer the Tokina Actually I'm just gonna grab one Pro I or II, as long as it's mint Funny since we're 5 years later as when you posted it ...
Such an oddly emotional video. The images and music combined are transcendant.
AMAZING VIDEO!!! Just got my hands on the Tokina 28-70 and it’s a gem!!! Love your work. 🏁
Thanks! It really is an amazing lens full of character.

bruh you were ahead of the game
Stunning
That flare at 2:50 is perfect!

Holy shit, incredible...Pro I or Pro II (please say Pro II haha)
Hi i wanna ask how do u achieve the square flare in 2:51 looks amazing

Don't look like the 2.6-2.8, are you using a focal reducer? Keep it up, great filmmaking!!!
nice work!!!
Hey nice video. Can you use the rocker zoom that comes with the camera with these lenses? And how does the focus hold up when you do zoom?
Tokina looks more in the Cinema ground
I have 18-35mm and just the other day I got the Tokina too... What F stops were you using most on the Tokina?
Hi. I find that 5.6 is the sweet spot of the Tokina
What Luts did you use?
Tomonori Watanabe I used a kodak LUT, but can't remember which one. One of those that comes with Resolve, under film looks.
Thanks! Nice video btw!

davidevans000 thanks for your help! I'll add the Sigma to my list.
Nathan Follmer apsc cover super 35mm sensors fine no crop from the lens like full frame with crop lenses.
Are there different versions of the Tokina 28-70, regarding the Angenieux optical formula? It looks nice 👌
yeah, you want to get the 1st or 2nd gen lens, they changed the formulae after that
Is this the constant aperture 2.8 Tokina?
Hi, this lens is 2.6 on the wide end and 2.8 on 75mm. It's the angenieux design.

@@stephenericwalsh it’s because the whole setup is heavy enough to not have microjitters. The lens itself weighs 700g+, plus the ursa which is chunky
Definitely prefer the Tokina
Actually I'm just gonna grab one
Pro I or II, as long as it's mint
Funny since we're 5 years later as when you posted it ...
Nicely shot. I reckon you had to add crop bars yea?
Nochie Divine hi. yes, on Resolve I chose 2.39 output blanking. I also shoot with 2.39 frame guidelines
Nice!
What would you say is the best aperture range for the Sigma?
Hi. The Sigma is incredibly sharp at whatever aperture you use. Traditionally, I don't go past f5.6 on most of my lenses.
is it the tokina 2.8 from the 90s?
yes
I also have the Sigma and love it on this camera but I'm impressed by the Tokina it looks great 👍
Chardon Waite This particular version of the tokina was made with the original angenieux optical formula. I love it a lot.
davidevans000 you have made me want one of those lenses now
@@davidevans000 which is the first version, right?
