  • In this video, see how we tackled our latest custom motorcycle build, a 2018 Suzuki VanVan RV200 (a pair of them, actually), that got a fully custom, but entirely bolt-on update that gives the fun-loving modern classic an attitude adjustment.
    We built this Suzuki VanVan in our shop, but made a duplicate of every single part, so the customer could build a twin version of this bike at home. What's more fun than a Suzuki VanVan 200? Two VanVans!
    All of the work to complete this dual sport project was performed in-house - from custom metal fabrication, paint and graphics, powder coat, electronics, and upholstery. Let us know what you think about it in the comments.

    The seat is one of the main reasons I love my Van Van. I did suspension front and back and carry 1.5 gallon Rotopax on a huge rack. Over 7000 miles on it now.

    it's kinda what I was looking in to, fat tyres, high clearance and more milage. This video helps me on what I want since we got potholes for miles and a standard sized tyres is just not cutting it. Nice fresh clean build, and it look like it can handle some weight as well :D Awesome job man you guys rock!!

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  4 місяці тому +1

      The fat tire conversion is surprisingly not that big of a deal. Getting the custom length spokes made is the trickiest part, honestly, and even that's easy if you have a shop like Buchanan Spoke make them for you.

      @hazimreitz 4 місяці тому

      @@thewatcher5271 Damn, wish I knew about that bike before I bought mine LOL. Just got mine like a year ago it's the bx 150 trekker, got height... but the tyres are pretty normal in size so I got bent rear rim cuz of potholes.

      @@slipstreamcreations Yeap, that's where I'm currently stuck for now, malaysia have strict rules on modding and shops like Buchanan would be a rare thing where I'm at. BUT!!! you gave me some new inspirations maybe I'll go fat but not this fat. Just enough for my wheels to be safe on a moon ride :D

    The Van Van's OEM fuel tank is to small IMO so GG on the new tank. Surprised you didn't add a front high fender because that front tire is going to throw a ton of dirt/mud. -- Have considered changing the front sprocket on mine to gear it down a bit for offroad.

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  6 місяців тому +1

      We did consider a front fender, and ultimately it was a form over function choice. The good news is, even the stock front fender will fit without modification, and we talked about either adding one of those, or a high fender like you mentioned down the road.

    • @DogMania

      Yes, such a great kit idea… does the new seat lower the seat height to say 28or 29 inches? This would be such a great bike for inseam challenged or the younger riders and getting down to 28/29 inches…. Perhaps also a softer or shorter rear shock to sag down a bit…. Love the build!

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  5 місяців тому +1

      The seat height is *virtually* unchanged from stock. One of the riders of these two bikes is 5'5" so we wanted it to be a versatile height like stock. This could be done with a lower seat height, but that likely alters the lines of the bike quite a bit. There's honestly a little room to lower the tank as well if you really wanted to try and keep similar lines but lower the seat a bit.

      @@slipstreamcreations thank you so much for response … I feel the VanVan being fuel injected would make it very desirable for folks looking not to mess with chokes/carbs… I will reach out to you on your email for a future VanVan build with the lower height but similar design!

    It looks cool, buT It is basically a Suzuki version of the TW200.

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  4 місяці тому

      I'm not an expert on the VanVan or the TW200, but even in stock form, they're pretty darn similar bikes. I think maybe the big difference is that the VanVan is fuel injected, and the TW still has a carburetor. I do like the look of the stock TW200 way more than the stock VanVan though. I'm sure they're both a ton of fun.

    • @michaelconran5252
      @michaelconran5252 4 місяці тому +1

      @@slipstreamcreations the TW comes with the fat wheels, that is the big difference. Neither one is what anyone would call high tech, I would say the fuel injection is not a huge advantage. On our Harleys, fuel injection is a huge advantage, but on my dirt bikes and dual sport, all carbureted, much simpler. For an expert off-roaders, my KTM 450EXC, may get an edge with fuel injection, but for my fire road commando riding style, it doesn't make a difference. I may get rid of my KTM and get two XL150 L's, since I don't ride it like it is meant to be ridden.

    Where's the front fender

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  5 місяців тому +1

      We talked about keeping or adding a front fender, but the customer decided to leave it off for now, mostly for aesthetic reasons. We did confirm that the stock front fender would still bolt on with no problems though, even with that fat front wheel. It would be pretty easy to also relocate it and to a high-mount if you wanted.

    How does the bike handle with the much wider front tire? Is it smoother with the larger contact latch or harder to turn on street with increased width? Thanks so much!

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  5 місяців тому +2

      I haven't personally spent a ton of miles riding the bike in either configuration, but I can say that for just normal riding around on the street, I didn't feel any real significant difference in turning, at least nothing negative -- keeping in mind that this isn't a sport bike, of course. I didn't ride this in sand, but I did ride it in some very deep gravel around a railyard, and the fat front tire definitely was great for that. I'm sure in sand it'd be fantastic.

      @@simoncaddick9085 that is a good point! The vintage Honda tank supply is definitely not unlimited, and there are some good reproductions of other Honda models. I haven't seen any for the CB360 yet, but it's worth some more investigation.

    Front fender...

    • @slipstreamcreations
      @slipstreamcreations  4 місяці тому

      Yeah, for any real dual sport riding you'll want a fender on there. Leaving it off was an aesthetic choice, but we did confirm that even the stock fender fits with the fat tire just fine, so bolting it back on is simple. We also considered a high-mount fender, which I think could look very cool and be totally functional.

      @@slipstreamcreations I'd definitely love to see a high-mount fender! The original one isn't very offroad worthy.
