No only one of the best movies about transsexuality, honesty one of the best movies I've seen in my whole life. Hands down the best performance of that year.

This is one of the best movies of the last 10 - 20 years! I didn't even know who Felicity Huffman or Kevin Zegers were before but they blew me away. The director mentions in a DVD extra he was reluctant to cast Kevin because he's so gorgeous, as anyone with eyes can see, but Zegers really pulled it off. Together he and Huffman make you believe these two unlikely characters are flesh and blood, not jokes or stereotypes or caricatures like so many people are in other movies.
And they didn't use real japanese people in Memoirs of a Geisha. It's Hollywood and it's called acting. Maybe they just didn't find any transsexual people who fit the part and could act as well as her.
such an incredible actress! it's weird to see her as a "guy" cause in reality and in desperate housewives she's very beautiful and hot! And this performance is the proof that she belongs to some of the world greatest actresses in our generation! Flicka, we love you!
I really need to get this movie as well I just started my transition im on my 3 month of HRT and of course MTF and only 20yrs and I regret not starting a few yrs ago. And I'm so happy and excited right now!!!
As someone who is trans and a huge Desperate Housewifes/Felicity Huffman fan. Why haven't I seen this already? I mean I saw the advertising and everything when it came out i guess i just never got around to it. So buying the dvd now.
This was a fantastic movie, but I can't help but feel this trailer gives the wrong impression of it. There are some funny moments, but this film is not a comedy, but the trailer paints it as such. Having said that, I could not recommend this movie more. Felicity Huffman is simply astounding.
Great movie. Great performance by Huffman too. And I agree with others that she should have won the honors that year, as Reese Witherspoon (a southern belle personality in real life) basically played a southern belle personality in the Johnny Cash biopic -- not a big stretch that requires skill that surpassed what Huffman had to pull off. The thing that always cracked me up though is how laid back Burt Young's character was in regard to the dramatic development to Huffman's character.
i went to see this thinking it was gonna be totally weird, but my friend wanted to see it so i agreed. i actually really liked it. it was funny and their were so many parts that you just felt for the characters. so yeah-i definitely would like to see it again!

he/she/it (don't mean that in an offensive way...actually i don't want to insult the person^^) is a WAY better woman than me...i think i'm going to watch that movie...the only transsexual thing i've ever seen was the musical "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (twice!) and it was totally worth it! i respect transgender peolpe, they are brave and show the world what their real purpose is..

I dont wear boys clothes(i dont like to dress in drag, thats what i would be doing wearing boys clothes) 3.) The way people treat you is different and the way you interact with people is different and the way you dress/act is different.

SEX is biological and will never change no matter how much we may want it to but GENDER is a culturally instilled definition of what behaviors and characteristics should match up with each sex. My boyfriend has a working penis but he will never have XY chromosomes, he is XX. He is still a man, his brain and mentality works as a man's not a females.
This really was...something alright. She (Felicity) was great, had me just about convinced. I've seen a couple small roles, but for the most part I can tell. And the actress in this movie isn't transexual. It's not the same, that's why I thought they ought to show more respect and use a real man-to-woman trans.

@orkid682 i would still be a female if i went my whole life without getting surgery, but getting surgery makes me feel more confident, and like i said, i would then be completely female to everyone. i dont want to go a doctor and be called a boys name, and have to get a male physical...or to still have a boys name by law and be identified as male by law.

Felicity Hoffman is astonishing here, and almost unrecognizable!!!! Brilliant performance, she really deserved the Academy Award!
