And on strings: ... Renaud Capucon, Sarah Chang, Ikya Gringolts, Gidon Kremer, Vadim Repin, Dimitri Sitkovetsky, Christian Tetzlaff, Nikolaj Znaider, Yuri Bashmet, Nobuku Imai, Mischa Maisky, Boris Pergamentschikov, Patick de Los Santos ....!
When you discover music this quality you know that nowadays music is a total waste of time..! This is sooo much healthier, peaceful, beautiful, it doesnt pain you to listen to it!
There's one person missing who should be up on stage getting applause- the scheduling maestro who got all these people together in the first place. That's as amazing as the music. And the music was amazing. Big fat "like".
This is a once in a life time opportunity to hear the three great pianist and a top conductor together in this most brilliant transcription of Vivaldi concerto for 4 violins in B minor to 4 harpsichords by JSB.
This concert is memorable because the Dream Team of classical music was summoned. Not only the pianists but the entire band, the violinists, the cellists, the conductor and the bass. Only the best of the best, the cream of the cream, Rock Star on each instrument, they are all world-class performers. For the history. What better musicians to play Bach and Vivaldi in this way?
I have watched and listened to this probably 400 times. A friend of mine calls it mechanical, but I call it divine beauty. It was Vivaldi who was the original creator, but of course Bach needs no apologists, right?
i can't understand why people nowadays can't appreciate this music. it's so nice and shows us a lot of emotions! I LOVE THIS! thanks a lot for posting it =)
What starts there at 6:15 is sheer magic, complete peace, almost minimalist, but better, because it has chord progression, i.e. a sense of direction, that much minimalist music lacks. I'm sure Johann Sebastian will be astonished to learn that his music is still played centuries later, and how ethereal it sounds on a 20th/21st century concert grand!
Baroque music always very pure music. No words to describe the greatness of both composers Bach and Vivaldi. Thank you indeed for your permission to share such piece
One must not forget that what Bach wrote is an arrangement of the original RV 580 from Contemporary Antonio Vivaldi. The four pianists here are giants.
Wow!! All these stars together, Kissin, Argerich, Levine, Pletnev, Kremer, etc. I wish I was there! Thank you for uploading, if only the camera had focused more on the hands and less on the faces of the pianists.
Oh, the almighty Bach!!! Nobody comes close to him. He is relentless. Never eases off. After a concert like this one, I am worn out from listening and enjoying it. What a performance.
This has long been a favorite piece of mine, and a friend just recommended this clip to me--I've watched / listened to it 5 times in a row now, and I can't stop from getting misty-eyed each time!
I weep for the millions of people who have no idea what real music is and what it can do turn on the radio now and your ears are assaulted by a beat and someone yelling (no singing) into a mic....spreading vulgarity and grade-school rhymes
I think this is at the 10th Anniversary of the Verbier Festival. This music is great (as are those playing it) and a delight to listen to. Makes a good end of the day piece. All the better for having some of my most favourite musicians playing.
..and to think I once thought Bach was boring. The cadenza in the slow movement is usually treated as a showpiece but this interpretation actually brought tears to my eyes and is absolutely exquisite. Thanks to all involved for a truly wonderful performance.
A real delight, thank you - and what a line- of pianists too, making magic from the simple chords of the second movement. Bach's reworking of Vivaldi's original is brilliant.
Grazie straordinari solisti e grazie all'Orchestra.
So much fun; I don't think that this is a particularly ambition piece for Bach but, his genius remains undiluted. I've knows this piece since I was young and I've never heard it played better. It's nice to see Sara Chang too.
Personally I found the second movement the way they played not the best, in some parts they are not taking the same tempo and there is not perfect agreement (see Kissin how many times looked at Levine)… Total personal opinion! I also prefer Vivaldi version with violins, unless this is played with harpsicords, once again total personal opinion, very good version of Bach at piano are rare!

Beautiful rendition of Bach's Concerto for 4 Pianos! How can one not smile listening to it?
A beautiful rendition of Vivaldi's Concerto for 4 Violins played with Harpsichords.

It doesn't get much better than 4 top level performers like these! Love Maestro Levine!
Bach would be so proud to hear and see this - genius across the ages!
Well idk, he originally arranged it for harpsichords
(even more originally it was Vivaldi's)

These talented people certainly brighten up the world. Thank you Bach and thank you all the musicians in this room!
Very rare treat with all the top soloists in the world together in this amazing transcription by JSB.
Soberbio !! Bach BWV1065 after Vivaldi RV580 , Marta Argerich es sensacional !!!
This is a knockout ------ right out of the park.....
exquisite performance by some of the greatest musicians of our time. it appears that a good time was had by all!
I have watched and listened to this probably 400 times. A friend of mine calls it mechanical, but I call it divine beauty. It was Vivaldi who was the original creator, but of course Bach needs no apologists, right?

I just found this gem and it is now one of my favorite pieces of music.
I loved this piece since I bought a compilation LP in 1968/9, which had life and times of JS Bach with it, never tire of listening

Mathias Böhme this is a copy of a masterpiece of Vivaldi, and I prefer the original version for 4 🎻
Baroque music always very pure music. No words to describe the greatness of both composers Bach and Vivaldi. Thank you indeed for your permission to share such piece
One must not forget that what Bach wrote is an arrangement of the original RV 580 from Contemporary Antonio Vivaldi. The four pianists here are giants.
Wow! Vivaldi transcribed by Bach! Both marvelous feeling and pure genious. An icompetant mixture! Incredible.
Whoa! The entire ensemble is like the Royal Family of classical music today. 😍

a wonderful combination of an elegant orchestra and brilliant pianists
This is so beautiful. I have to remind myself to breathe, I am so taken by the music, the perfect tempo, perfect rhythm.
How do they make such beauty? Absolutely the best thing I have ever listened to. Thank you!
Listen thousands of times and always Fantastic!
Wonderful! What a star-studded line-up of famous musicians, soloists in their own right.

Bravissimi e si sono pure divertiti !

Epic performance!
an thanks Bach for this GREAT transcription
It is quite normal. What you hear in this video is a concerto written by Antonio Vivaldi for 4 violins. Bach transcribed it, but did not compose it.
This is as good as it's ever gonna get.
