At long last here is the long awaited cover of Ringed City Epilogue from Dark Souls III. This song is really bittersweet because this is the last song we hear in the Dark Souls Trilogy and it holds so much weight. I think this surpasses Nameless Song because the scope is on a grand scale.
Next, this concludes the recording process of my Dark Souls III Piano Album so it's closer than you all think. Thank you all so much for the patience these past several months. This is my first album so I wanted to produce something special. - Ігри

I will confess:
I never heard the Ringed City Epilogue ingame. When the DLC came out, I only had one savegame - a character on NG+7. I never got past those two demons. They broke me, so far I never saw what lies behind them.
One day I will beat them, just so I can hear this piece and my soul can rest.
Michael Seraph The Ringed City Epilogue is pretty much like the original expect for the piano. It’s more dominant in this version.
😭 feels bad.... You’re a madman to go to NG+7. NG+2 was the furthest that I got. I didn’t really enjoy how the bosses health pools significantly increased in the higher difficulties. What system do you play on?
@@UprisingGrand I play on PC with an xBox-controller.
Beating Sister Friede (was that her name? The chick with the scythe) took me three days as well. Only took her down once - in NG+7. I was also mad enough to unlock every acheivement in every Dark Souls game, doing speedruns and challengeruns, going to NG+9 in Dark Souls 1... So much time I could have spent practicing, haha.
The best part of that DLC comes after those demons. You must try again. I have a similar experience with Midir, I just can't beat him. But I suppose you must be the better player for even trying in NG+7, I am simply in NG.
I highly advise you to keep trying in NG+7 or make a new character. It's worth the effort.
In my first playthrough I beat the demons with the help of Lapp. He kept one of them distracted so I could focus on the other. You could try following his questline.
Now, let's make a promise. You promise to beat those demons, I promise to beat Midir. After that, you are free to explore the ringed city, and I can say I beat every boss in DS3 at least once. Deal? :)

What I like about this composition is that it gives you all those emotions that any life should give, which ends with inevitable death.
Of course, if we extinguish the flame. And these emotions that you feel from the death of the flame and the whole world, you subconsciously draw an analogy with the fact that our world, our life will one day inevitably end and eternal darkness will set in. It's pretty awful and sad. And this music, the word of a special funeral march, sings of this bitterness from the irreversibility of the end.

I have around 1000 hours in souls game.
The last two months, I did a last all bosses playthrough of the Dark Souls trilogy with characters named "Epilogue". Beating the last boss with the End of Fire ending, hearing this track, and deleting the games hurt more than I expected.
But one day, tiny flames will dance across the darkness.
Man, I wish you'd do a midi tutorial of this song. This arrangement is by far the most accurate transcription to piano I've seen.
It's been years, I would still absolutely love to see this happen @UprisingGrand

I already have some of the arrangemen up from when I did it in 2020 on my channel... I've since cleaned up the notation and have added to it and plan to release the sheet music next month

Maybe the best version of Epilogue on UA-cam! Love how you went for atmosphere, musicality and beauty instead of technique and complexity. I'm not sure, because it's been a while since I last heard the original, but I could swear you reharmonized some of this. Loved the chords, but also how you used them. I think the goal of any piano cover should be to capture the feeling of the original, while sounding like this was meant to be played on the piano, I think this is something that you do very well in your arrangements in general! My favourite part is 5:34 for sure! Left hand melodies can have a great effect, fits well as the end part!

Thank you for your kind words Micheal. Learning this piece takes a different approach than many Dark Souls songs. Dark Souls is mainly gothic choral music but the true gems are the delicate pieces. Kitamura did really well with the chord voicing in this version. At 1:25 I had to play some countermelodies, so you can see some of the awkward intervals being played. Finally the climax is my favorite because of the variations of the riff at 5:32 and onward. Can't wait to hear your next song.

A little more than a year ago I received Bloodborne for Christmas. It didn't take long for it to become my favorite game, and it introduced me to this genre of souls-games.
So, a couple months later I saw the Dark souls trilogy at a discount. It was a no-brainer for me so I bought it. With these three games came a code to download every soundtrack of the entire Dark Souls series. So I downloaded gigabites of mp3 files on my computer and transferred a couple to my phone. (Gwyn is a nice ringtone)
Now, listening to the soundtrack reminded me of when I randomly watched your video on Gehrman's theme.
So I rediscovered your channel, and subscribed.

I was with Solaire, walking to the Gwyn's bossroom, when we got invaded by a dark spirit. We beat the dark spirit, Solaire was on half health. We entered the bossroom and defeated Gwyn together, first try. Solaire only had a sliver of health left.
No crying, only smiling when I hear my ringtone.
This will be the first song i will learn to play, when my first keyboard finally arrives and I will try to play your version.

The bittersweetness of this song is too heavy. A series filled with such endless tragic comes to an abrupt halt after the bell rings one last final time.

I absolutely loved Epilogue, it emphasizes the emptiness after you defeated Gael and brought ruin to the Ringed City (or brought back its true colors?) you won but at what cost? You're alone in a dead world. Your take on it is a bit brighter tho, a tiny glimmer of hope somewhere in those crescendos? :p

The technology for keyboard's are really good but nothing compares to acoustic piano. Hopefully in the near future I'll have my personal one.
