    That thing's apart WAY easier than the 5 hp Bates and Edmonds Bulldog that I'm working on. (Although mine did survive a fire.)

    Are there some timing marks on the cam gear and flywheel for reference?

      There usually are timing marks. However, most always the marks have become invisible due to corrosion, etc. I just time the exhaust valve to open and close at the proper times and that gets you spot on.
