    When I started exercising again, I just kinda worked through it. It wasn't as bad as the first time I ever worked out, but I was like okay, I know from experience it gets worse if I stop exercising today to rest, so I will do light exercisis and then stretch when I am warmed up again.
    Also, warm-ups and cooldowns are VERY IMPORTANT EVERYONE!! Always warm up and cool down. Seriously, especially as a beginner, warm up before and stretch after a workout!

    I actually really miss DOMS. When I started working out 20 years ago my muscles would get so sore that I couldn't even lift my arms to touch my nose. Even after taking a decade or so off when I restarted my weight training I never got that same level of soreness again. These days it doesn't matter how hard I work or how hard I push myself in the gym, I never get DOMS. :(

    I switched to a total body calisthenics routine this week after mainly doing zone 2 cardio and weight training, and I feel like I got the crap beat out of me lol.
    A relatively recent podcast with Andrew Huberman and Andy Galpin noted that DOMS may be due to the immune response post-workout which leads to increased fluid and pressure on the sensory receptors surrounding the muscles. Andy notes that if it were truly just muscle tissue damage causing muscle pain/soreness, then we would expect to feel the DOMS soreness immediately rather than 24-48 hours later as with any other tissue damage. I'm paraphrasing, of course.
    A key takeaway though was that light exercise is helpful for relieving some DOMS soreness because it causes fluid and nutrients to flow more, and this helps with the pressure and the recovery process which both lend toward a reduction in DOMS. It is also why massage tends to alleviate soreness as well - the manual stimulation causes fluid & nutrient exchange. However, stretching a sore muscle was noted to be the exact opposite of helpful because of the stretch reflex of muscle fiber spindles.

      You over did your tendons in your arms. As you lift more and more weight, your muscles grow. So do your tendons (slower than muscle) you have to slowly go up in weight to give the tendons time to grow as well. This is why people with steroid use can severely damage themselves easily. Their muscles are growing rapidly fast while their tendons are growing at a normal slow rate. That means they're lifting heavier and heavier to continue the muscle stimulation for growth and the tendons can't keep up and tear.
      You need to start slow, don't go into the gym with an ego. Start slow, every two weeks go up 5-10lb , or do an extra rep. Depending on what you're comfortable with until eventually you won't notice you're 70-100lb+ more than where you started at.

    • @DamnBrother
      @DamnBrother 3 місяці тому

      @@kabeerameetganatra3516 it should go away in about a week and a half depending. Rest is important. Your arms will go back to normal. But take that as a warning. You could have easily tore the tendon and your bicep could have curled up inside of your arm requiring surgery. Take it slow, let your body adjust slowly to new weight.

    It's so frustrating to finally come back to exercising lol
    I lived the first 17 years of my life without ever being sedentary, but then I stopped for some years.
    At the time, I was so used to like, everything, that the most amount of time I'd ever be sore for was the day after the exercise, and never extending into the second day. Now when I come back to it I feel it for days on end lol
    I was always used to wait for it to chill a bit before I went at it again, but I'm realizing that if I am to do that right now, I might as well not even train at all

    • @SeboHyatt
      @SeboHyatt Рік тому +1

      yup. that's how that feels. honestly you're gonna have to probably go easier with your workouts if you're gonna try and avoid it. just to get back into the swing of things, then actually go all out the way you used to once your body realizes you want to commit.

My uncle has been having this every day since he was six . He been been doing this and he’s happy because it gives him more muscles. You might feel it being hurt in my chest. But out of no where 1 year in to the gym , doing the same exorcises that i always did i was starting to get very
    sore , and could not do ppl anymore , since i would be sore the entire week.
    So i increased the intensity and halfed the volume , and i was fine , but for 3 months now , doms came back and im still doing the same exercises . I am so sore that i cant train a mouscle more than once a week .
    Should i listen to my body and only train once a week , or should i try to push through the sorness , for sometime , so my body gets used to training more often ?

    If you train a sore muscle will it grow?, or you need the muscle to fully recover before training it in order for it to grow?.

    • @R.me_strong
      @R.me_strong 6 місяців тому

      The muscle doesn’t need to fully recover to grow but over exercising sore muscles can also have a deteriorating effect.
      Muscle growth happens in the repair stage when we’re sleeping

      I'm 55 yo and weight training for years and I still get DOMS. I've tried different supplements, etc but I still get it. 3 days ago I pushed my upper-body workout and I'm still really sore which is why I'm looking at videos about it again hoping I'll find something I haven't tried. It's really disheartening.

    The DOMS I had when gyms opened mid-covid (2021) were the worst I ever had from the gym 😅 made the mistake of loading nearly as heave and as much volume as 1.5 yrs earlier
    Nothing beats the DOMS from running barefoot for the first time though. Even knowing I'd experience DOMS and taking it very easy (ran like 1-2k), I was still in pain for days 😆
