Mock Driving Test - UK Practical Driving Test
This is Patrick who came to Drive London as a complete beginner. He learnt in a manual car and became test ready after just 20 hours but due to Covid couldn't find a test date and is now just doing a couple of lessons to maintain a good standard. Very good drive but does he pass?
In the video the text colour would mean:

Passed my test last Friday 1st time with 3 minors. Got pretty much as lucky as possible. I got: follow the sat nav, pull up on the right and reverse 2 car lengths, show me how you use the horn, tell me how to position the head restraint. I was laughing mate. The route was easy and quiet and didnt even feature turning right at a roundabout, but hey I'm not complaining.
@Louise Garwood Cheers! Good luck with yours. My tips would be to drive around all the roads close to your test centre, just take your time and don't rush any manoeuvres (always do your 6 point checks and just check your mirrors repeatedly while on the move too). I stalled at the entrance to a roundabout on a slight hill and also did 57mph in a 50 limit dual carriageway but got the benefit of the doubt both times so don't assume you've failed at any point. Just stay focused and finish the drive.

Passed mine Monday. 4 minors with an apparently harsh examiner. Tbf, I pulled out and drove down the road in neutral because of nerves😂😂

TEST TECHNIQUE - TELL me question 2.05. Could you TELL me how to turn on your fog lights? How would you know they were on sitting in the car? When would you use them? Answer just say: "I use the fog lights switches, front and rear" (no need to look round inside the car as I am just telling the examiner), I am not showing him/her where the switch is as this has not been asked. Then say "The fog light icons appear on the dashboard" What do they look like? "Light icons on the dashboard facing different directions for front and rear" (detailed description has not been requested) "I would use them when it is very foggy". (technically less than 100m visibility). Do not point at things when telling as it might reveal you haven't a clue as there is a difference between TELL me and SHOW me.
This is terrible advice. I know this because I too thought I could get away with doing this, and the examiners still asked me (on both tests I did) to point out where the switch was. Your distinction between tell/show is too broad: the only difference is that you don't have to DO it for tell. You still might be asked to tell them where the switch is. Some of the tell me questions involve pointing things out (e.g. stuff under bonnet).
@@slashdisco Obviously I disagree with you on whether my original advice is good/bad relating to TELL me questions. Basically what I am saying is that the best opening gambit is to just TELL the examiner things as opposed to floundering and demonstrating your lack of knowledge. If they get specific about where a switch is then you have a default position. 1. You know where the switch is, point to it maybe describe its operation. This may dissuade them for trying to pin you down on the next question. 2. You do not have any idea where the switch is, take responsibility, "I am not sure where that switch is and I am going to look in the vehicle handbook after the test, as it is important" possibly minor fault but you come out as sensible.

For the minors when going straight at a roundabout, you say 'doesn't need to indicate' so how is it a minor? Surely as long as you indicate left when you are exiting the roundabout it's ok?
i don't like how the instructor is laughing when he was making those mistakes. someone could easily take offence and not like it.
Pretty boring.. that guy doesn't make any major mistakes!! (Well I'm half way the video)... On a serious note... I appreciate the positive comments popping up on the screen. I think having positive feedback throughout the lessons reassures the person and gives them much needed confidence boost.

@byblis persephone It's funny because it was sudden and unexpected. It's okay to laugh about your mistakes rather than bringing yourself down about it. Also, everyone makes errors, but that wasn't the funny part about it.

I passed my test 2 weeks ago today and I went for my first unsupervised drive on Saturday. I’m still going to watch these videos though, partly to pick up new tips and partly as pure nostalgia .

Yes, he can. Like you need to know what's happening to your car? If you don't know how to do stuff, then there will be danger to the other cars.

i had my test on friday, after being cancelled since may and i got 3 minors and 1 serious fault...the serious fault was going to wide on a left turn even when there was no cars about...now i have to wait till next year 🥺

shuff the test center is shrewbsury and there are no dates available what so ever and the nearest one which is telford doesn’t have dates until february 2021

I always root for the people doing parallel park, like go on son!
A decent drive. I always tense up at the parallel parking in these kinds of videos, I always assume the worst will happen.

You don't fail on the tell or show me questions if you get both questions wrong or don't answer them you will get 1 minor.

I passed a while ago and still find these videos helpful. One thing though, surely on the emergency stop 'slams brakes on' shouldn't be a minor. What else you meant to do when doing the emergency stop???

Why you need to check mirrors before moving from the complete stop?
suicidal cyclists are everywhere! Also you don't want so side swipe somebody driving along. If you're parked you need yield to the traffic already moving along the road.

5:06 turn signal stalks on Mercedes’ are always confusing. Ironically on older Mercedes’ the turn signal stalk is actually where the newer Mercedes’ cruise control stalk is and vice versa.
Show me and tell me questions are not serioulsy mistake is just minor so that means in first two seconds u can mąkę already 2 minors but u can did 15 and still pass

You can't fail your test just from getting the show me tell me questions, wrong, if you got them both wrong it would just be 2 minors ..

When the roads are busy and you're emerging to the right, is it a fault to block the first lane when emerging? Because sometimes I have to wait until someone stops to let me out from both lanes. I've seen experienced drivers do it but I know some do a lot of things wrong
A fault for signalling at mini roundabouts are a good thing my instructor said to let other traffic flow.

How long does it take to change the address on your driving licence by post any idea people?
Because of the the backlog they have from the lockdown it takes longer. Mine took about 3 weeks (I went through the fast track route at the time that’s why and the process was tedious) but when I spoke to the customer service lady she said it might take up to 8 weeks. Good luck!

yeah u do, as soon as you get to it check centre and left mirror, signal then turn off I think

Nur Mithu you'll get a minor in most cases. If someone undertakes you, you can be given a serious fault and fail.,
If you put your mask on the right way up then you would have to be pulling it up all the time

Rohit is wrong. You *cannot* fail your driving test just by getting show me/tell me questions wrong. You'd pick up one driving fault for each one you get wrong, so a max two driving faults. Obviously this might result in a fail if it then takes you over 15 driving faults, but you can't fail on those questions alone. Bad information.

You will most likely fail with that amount of driving time even with extreme video revision, I wish you good luck though, earliest date I could get was January 27th for me, and I’ve had about 14 lessons so far, and will have a few more before then for sure. Diesel car, it's doable but not recommended, obviously not good for petrols tho
