2015 - A friend tells me to upgrade my Win7 with security patches.
For who's security? I asked him
I switched to Linux in the following weeks/months.
But I still have worries, not being Australian... 🙃

Great Video. I am happy you are back and hope you are doing fine. ❤
Yes I fully agree and that's why the company I am working for has implemented 2 Factor Authentification to access the company accounts (and the users still trying to avoid this)
Thumbs Up and more Linux Videos . Greetings from Germany to you, your family and the community

Welcome back man! I will never trash anybody for using Windows, but for folks like me who are shackled to a Microsoft laptop for work-related computing, you do yourself a tremendous service to make the switch to FOSS systems for your home computing needs. These security vulnerabilities are just the start. Microsoft wants you to build an account so they can sell you to advertisement and many other industries. And keep in mind that they are making money off of you for purchasing their software! You're not your friend, not in the least.

Very strange, I use Windows 11 on two computers and Linux on another, and Android on another. Whenever someone tries to access my Microsoft Account, I get a text alert, even if its me from from a different location or machine!

Don't be silly. This kind of logic requires forward thinking on the part of Microsoft. They don't do this. They lean backwards like their backslashes they use on file paths. The more people put their data in the Microsoft cloud, the more issues like these will come up.

I still use Windows the only reason I don't switch is because I have so many programs with custom setups and scripts that I can't be bothered to setup again. As soon as my install breaks or bugs I'll instantly go to Linux

Google should add an option which allows you to set how many login attempts are allowed before they send you an email, based with and/or without location.

And although I might get al lot of hate too: Systemd is the exact same problem on Linux-Platforms today! They copied the bad things to just compete in shorter Boot-times! Systemd on Linux is as horrible as Windows.

To MS develop anything ''secure'' it would have to develop completely NEW code and implement things their literally HATE to use in their over bloated POS software...and sure as fuck NOT send data home in everything they ''sell'' to their costumers/subscribers....
    So...never going to happen....

Everytime I'm using my google account to login to something (especially if I'm on Linux), I always get two emails from google stating there's suspicious activity (one to my gmail and another to the backup account). Better safe than sorry I guess.
But you're right, MS should notify under the conditions you specified. Knowing them, they'd send it to your hotmail account LOL.

There's a simple solution for this dilemma...
Don't put any computer with Windows 10 or 11 on the internet period...
Install your programs from a flash drive and use a ethernet cable if that software has to update....

everyone I know have been hack and I use extra strong passwords. They must have holes in their backend. The other thing that is laughable is their application passwords. If you go to generate one, it will generate a weak password without any special characters. It's the opposite of security.

  • @mrcvry

Because it cost you a lot of money if you want to be warned. You need the (I think) the E5 subscription.
The more interesting the target the more attacks. Hundreds of login attempts per second is completely normal. You do not want to be warned every time.

Oddly Microsoft accounts are a nightmare to get back if you forget the password.
I remember my son losing his password and trying to get it back because he had his Minecraft linked to it.
The password recovery form got to the point they wanted passport details and despite sending them it they said they couldnt verify his identity.

Windoze is an OS that spies on the users 24x7. Who in his right mind would call it secure. Every Keystroke, every action is recorded and sent to Redmond. M$ keeps harping on security but hasn't really done anything about malware that frequently infects the windoze. I am still wondering what security they are talking about.

  • @UltraZelda64
    @UltraZelda64 Рік тому

Mine shows many attempts as well, all failed, as well as several from random countries around the world (but a few in the US which are obviously not me). All failed. Clicking "secure your account" simply brings up a message that you don't need to change your password or anything because the attempted entry was unsuccessful. It seems concerning, but that's what two-factor authentication is for, and it's been enabled on my account for years! In reality, it's nice that Microsoft provides you with this data because they sure as hell don't have to, and many other companies don't. I don't like Microsoft as a company and their operating systems and security are generally shit, but in this case I honestly can't fault Microsoft for actually giving you access to your account's access/login data. I think if anything, an option to disallow/block all attempted logins from any country other than my own would work quite nicely to reduce to number of attempts, because I'm never going to be in Guatemala, India, Ukraine, Namibia or some other random shithole. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the one originating in Ukraine was from one of those Russians that invaded the country.

I use Linux Xero and Pop OS every day now...
I have no security or privacy issues at all...
All the programs I used to have to have for Windows are FREE as well...
I can even build apps for Android with Pop OS, also Free...
I did have to practice and study because the programs and interfaces are different...
That's a small price to pay...
