People are mad because the other oscar-bait actresses were selected for being “stunning and brave” women who throw men around like ragdolls. Her character was flawed, vulnerable, and unlikeable. In a good way of course. She earned the oscar, but it took away steam from the matriarchy wannabes.
Had no idea what this film was about but heard about the Oscar drama and wanted to see a clip out of curiosity. I was....not prepared to be slapped in the face with my own childhood trauma. How dare you make me feel things on a Wednesday
Just finished watching and still have tears in my eyes from the ending sheesh! Amazing movie brilliant and reminds me of my childhood but with my sister.
I just finished watching the movie on Netflix and I’m mindblown on how incredible she performed. Seriously underrated actress. I cried like a baby. It’s such a shame all the controversy this movie is getting because of the Oscar nomination scandal. I just hope this doesn’t affect Andreas career
Why are they saying she might have stolen an oscar nod? When she is clearly deserving of the nominaton after seeing this?? I wont ne surprised at all if she wins it.
Because they are mad that someone like viola davis ( who was nominated 4 times and won once already) wasn’t nominated. people are mad because it’s always the same people getting recognition and when someone unknown does they can’t handle it.
Yeah I looked up a scene because the actress was in the news today. Acting was good but the script is pretty banal. "I'm a kid and looking after my mother etc"
Halle Berry won an Oscar for “no makeup woman going through it” monsters ball. Frances Mcdormand for three billboards. Cate Blanchett for blue jasmine. Reese Witherspoon walk the line. Charlize Theron monster. It’s been done to death. That doesn’t diminish the performances.
Did we watch the same film? Yeah it has feel good moments but this is a pretty tough, grimy look at alcoholism. I’m not sure I would call it a “family movie”
I'm watching this after the controversy, and just want to say that she's pretty good in this scene. I actually think this performance is above Blanchett and Yeoh's this year. I don't think it's a grift nomination, it's just a really good performance.
I looked up a scene with Andrea because of the controversy. Nothing seems that special to me about her acting. I guess she's a little good at playing functional drunk woozy without overdoing it. But, hardly that special. Son seems like a more raw, believable actor to me in this scene.
thats probably because you don’t know enough about acting and you are not a member of the academy’s acting branch who actually chooses and votes for the nominees.
Watch the movie. Any analysis of her performance that hasn’t seen the whole film is just making things up and not valid/worth anything. You have to be informed to have a valid opinion or criticism.
@@elleryprescott 🙄 The hallmark of great acting performances is that they're captivating in every scene, not "watch all two hours and then maybe you'll like her." Javier Bardem in No Country. Meryl Streep in most of her roles. Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson, Frances McDormand, etc etc. It's not supposed to take hours of watching to notice "oh hey, this person is special".
@@reference2592 this is nonsense. The hallmark of a great acting performance is that they’ve created a believable character. This can’t be ascertained by watching two minutes of any film, no matter how convincing the performance. Any mediocre performer can suspend your disbelief for a couple of minutes, that’s not some indication of genius, it’s a fluke. Those performances are venerated because the character has been fleshed out in the context of a narrative. They make sense as part of a whole. It would be incredibly easy to take two minutes of any revered performance and find moments of artifice and contrivance. Why? Because it’s not real! It’s inherently contrived. As such they will always do something that isn’t entirely natural or organic because they’re pretending. If they were oh so captivating every second why would anyone need to see the work in context at all? They’d give awards for two minute clips. They don’t 🙄
She rightfully deserved that Oscar nomination. I don't understand why people are so shocked.
People are shocked because her campaigning method was unconventional. Some pundits thought she wouldn't be shortlisted.

Owen Teague is such an incredible fucking actor, goddamn.
Owen should have been nominated for best supporting actor
Congratulations to Andrea Riseborough for getting an Oscar nomination!
And she deserves it, but of course shit Hollywood wants blacks on the list vs talent
Owen is such an underated actor
Alcoholics, lying, stealing, manipulating, always the victim. Yep, seems very realistic.
Owen is so underrated oml. I literally love him sm

your mom was a drunk too?
Literally this is an Oscar clip.. go Andre Riseborough get nice gown at the Oscars
I really hope the role of Noa in Kingdom of the Planet of the apes gets a lot of exposure for Owen ,he is fcnk incredible actor 🥹💕

Well guess who got an Oscar nomination?
Andrea who else

Owen is so handsome
Why are they saying she might have stolen an oscar nod? When she is clearly deserving of the nominaton after seeing this?? I wont ne surprised at all if she wins it.
She ain't winning it. Yeoh likely gets it and if not her, it'll be Blanchett. But she absolutely deserved the nomination.
She's definitely not gonna win when she's facing Michelle Yeoh and Cate Blanchett but she absolutely deserve her very first nomination
@@Fl0k5ser im currently watching the movie now. Oh my shes so goood. To leslie is a five star ✔️👌
She’s going to win. I can’t wait for this year’s surprise

She's amazing.
Owen does an amazing job, Andrea also, overall is not a spectacular movie, but its a cutesy family movie

This will be her Oscar scene
There’s plenty more where that came from in this film lol
Oscar worthy. Cant wait to watch the movie!
where was the grassroots nomination push for the actor playing the son? I guess he doesn’t know Gwyneth Paltrow and Edward Norton.
As great as Teague was in the film, Maron was even better.
Agreed!
He wasn’t in the movie enough.

This is just too real and people who know... know...
Bro said "hey fat baby"😂
