  • Pseudohypertension is a condition where a patient's blood pressure readings are falsely elevated when measured with a standard blood pressure cuff, but their actual (intra-arterial) blood pressure is normal
This discrepancy often occurs in certain populations, particularly in elderly individuals, and can be attributed to factors such as stiff, calcified, or arteriosclerotic blood vessels
These hardened arteries resist compression by the blood pressure cuff, leading to inaccurately high readings.
