Although from London my mother was from Dumbarton and all her family ( my family). My great uncle was in the Argylls and lost his life in 1915 just outside tires Belgium. He is not only remembered on the memorial in Levengrove park his name is in St. Augustine church and his mother & Fathers headstone in Dumbarton cemetery. His name is on the Menin Gate in Ypres. He was never found and remains still listed missing.
I really like how they have the Argyles 'veterans' march as 'outriders' alongside them. A brilliant touch ! From an RE veteran who served with them in 1973.
Actually having just seen the USA tour the Argylls pipes & drums are good size. About 12 pipers and 10 drummers. A good size for a regimental pipe band and looks great on their own or when massed with the band of the Irish Guards. Lots of first-rate Highland Dancing performed by MEN for a change who can only do true justice to the strength and majesty of the old sword dances. Urge all in the USA to see this great tour from Jan-Mar 2010. Not to be missed! Check local listings etc.
To Vampire Girl - Song came from the march "Green Hills of Tyrol" I've ordered it (in slow time) for my military funeral. Opening was another favourite, Bonnie Dundee.
The Argyles my auld man served in the second world war with them alas I never got to March to the pipes and drums as a national service man you could not pick or choose your regiment so I was one of my clan a proud Maclean who never joined the Argyles still the I was proud of my Corps a great bunch of lads back in the 50s.
+Neil Maclean Neil, you are a true and rightfully proud soldier. Doesn't matter who you served with, you served your country, but what a shame they couldn't have put you in your Father's Regiment. They ignored a tradition that is at the very core of our military system.
Nice to see the Ayglls on their impending tour with the band of the Irish Guards for their USA 2010 tour. The band is certainly small with 8 pipes and about as many drummers. I guess this is about the size of the band that will do the tour in the States.
Respect 4 these soldiers! and they are playing there was a soldier a Scottisch soldier... I love the song but this is the first time I hear it by bagpipes and I have to say that I prefer this type of music for this song.
where is this 10,000 strong force coming from how well trained are they, what weapons will they use, one other thing you prats seem to miss who will train them. Let me guess good old ALEX and the SNP have been training these troops on the QT.
Would these be the same muslims that flew your fighter planes in WW2?? funny how when you needed them to fight for the common wealth in a WORLD WAR ( big clue there! ) they were good enough for you then!!!, my how short your memory is, this is about the love of pipes and piping, its not about religious bigotry or racism so take your hate unionist arses and fuck off ye bawbag..
Fuck you and fuck Vincent, this is about Scottish music not religion, both of you should fuck off as this post does not warrant comments about anything other than pipes..

My Scots heritage means I have this deep seated emotional attachment to the Pipes. Makes me very emotional.
Our country is British ,and all ways will be,very proud to see the Scottish battalions marching
You're hopeful.

The spelling Is Argyll's not Argyles or Ayglls thank you.
Ok, so what's the 6/8 set at the very beginning?
Dumbarton Drums & Bonni Dundee?
Bugle Horn then Bonnie Dundee
Is "band/s/massed band/s, halt left" a dismissal or I mean to get out of their "royal" state?
Please invest in a tripod for steady camera work.
@uncle67mario The Horn, then the Atholl Highlanders, the green hills of tyrol, when the battles over,
This vid does not play well on my lap top, the image stops but the sound keep on....pity.

@@euanm2054 you dare to correct me moral?! Lol
@@crazydocphoenix9436 Dont see any of the brass band their pal, especially no bloody trumpets lol
although many of the the scots military bands can and do use the trumpets, instruments etc. But personally I much prefer just the pipes & drums!
The liberals don't let us have these kind of home comings
Any Muslims?
