Ovi was already showing signs of slowing down last year, but he really showed his age here, but playing on the same line as Backstrom and Oshie is doing him no favors. Caps straight up trotted out a retirement home on the ice. Put Strome, or even Kuznetsov on the first line who can actually give him good looks, and he should still feast.
thought ovi looked slower and older. maybe he's finally starting to show his age. caps may be in for a long season.
Love the Caps videos! I know we don't have quite the squad we had at times in the 2010s but still love this org.

As a Pens fan this was the opposite of disappointing. Special teams looked great, finally, both PP and PK. And Jarry had a very solid performance getting an early season shutout. After losing way too many leads recently this was a confidence booster and hopefully a good sign of what is coming this season. Yes, it was only the 2nd game, but I'm hopeful and believe we're not going to end up in the same traps as last season. Lets go Pens!

Ovi is my favorite player since his rookie year. He is older of course but still over 40 goals last season. We should be altering his role, i think he is still viable.

@@mr8839 hes bigger than the average guy in the league. and centermen are usually smaller than wingers too. not that karlsson is a centerman but typically hes going to hit the person carrying the puck in, and normally its a small centerman or a player like karlsson. a skater.

The Caps didn't look good @ all!! Ovi's never been a complete player... so him looking awful is not the end of the world... but seeing Backstrom play like that... was sad!! I didn't see him make 1 play in the O zone... when he use to dictate the play like a Boss in the past!! And I don't know their new coach... but I saw him chewing that Gum all game... and can't even remember him communicating with his players during the Game!! The Caps are my early favorite... for the worst team in the league!

This reason youre talking about is one of the reasons the 72 summit series and 80 us team is so memorable, canada and us winning respectively was about more then just hockey.
