Kemper is overrated, the only time he was ever any good was on a Colorado team that had the puck in the offensive zone 80% of the time. The Capitals had a really good defense last year but he was terrible, the Capitals back up goalie Charlie Lindgren took over his job halfway through the season and played way better than him, he was so bad they even started Lindgren on Kemper’s bobble head night lol

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the catalyst for the trade.
Dubois’s going to thrive with the Caps and now the Caps are finally going back to true contention, landing in the top 3 in the Metro Division standings. I kinda feel bad for LA, I always rooted for them as a Western Conference team and especially in the playoffs against Edmonton, but I think they could be on their way out of being a playoff team by the expense of teams like the Blues, the Flames or the Kraken.

No, I wouldn't be surprised if MacLellan made this happen by approaching Blake and offering the trade. Dubois, in some ways, is sort of a brilliant pickup for the Caps. If Dubois continues his ways, the Caps will just tear the team down in two years and warehouse Dubois through the prime of his career until it's attractive to buy out his contract. Or he can turn into the world-class player he can be and be a key part of the team's next era. The choice is up to him. But Washington isn't going to sweat the worst-case scenario. Dubois was probably the best player the Caps could get this summer because elite free agents aren't going to sign with the Caps right now.

Really, the only piece they gave up for Dubois that they're seriously missing is Vilardi and the jury is still out on whether/not Gabe can be an impact player for a full 82 game season. Iafallo is a 3rd liner and was replaced pretty easily. Kupari is a fringe 4th liner. Who knows on the 2nd round pick - And if you want to argue it was basically Durzi since it's the pick they got from trading Durzi - I'd argue they don't miss Durzi all that much with Clarke and Spence still in the organization. Now of course you also have to factor in the year of Dubois playing miserable hockey for $8.5m and the fact that they needed to take on Kuemper to get rid of Dubois but still, there's a path forward now that could set the Kings up for success next year. Just have to hope Blake makes a couple good moves/signings and a couple young players continue to progress.

Washington if they retained half his salary(they can afford this) would no doubt have many suitors looking for top 6 help(he is a center too). With a manageable cap hit and providing pld is doing ok at the time, they would get quite alot for him, especially finding a team in need of depth at the deadline. Id take the risk with this trade

People over estimate how much the Jets got for Dubois. Only good player was Vilardi and he’s known to only play 50 games max a season.
I think PDL isn't going to enjoy feeding a flat footed ovi and we're going to see some drama between them before December.
