@@LaFlor718 Having looked a little bit into psychology myself and watched a really cool doco series created here in NZ called 'why am I' the saddest thing for me is how early experiences effect future behaviour. For instance the effect of poverty on learning delays which effect school entrants ability to learn at the level they are expected to (and often parental and educational expectations are kinda dumb anyway) which leads to them giving up and learning bad behaviours due to not learning much more important social and emotional skills. Honestly they said you can look at 4 year old and be able to tell without interference roughly how someone is gonna turn out. Sadly its stuck behind a geoblock as its on the tv channels streaming site, although if you have a VPN you may be able to get past it perhaps. It covers something called the Dunedin Lognitidual Study which follows (since its still ongoing) all children born in a set year. Its auctually really fascinating, espically if you like psychology.

@SsSs RoBbSs Oh do I want fully grown rapists to do free? I AM A RAPE VICTIM. so cut the crap with me. Prosecutors had no DNA and little evidence that matched the teenagers to the crime, the attack, or the scene.
Reyes, who was doing 33 years to life for a murder-rape conviction, reached out to police, who were able to MATCH HIS DNA to the DNA at the Central Park crime scene.
Reyes also knew some details about Meili and the crime that had never been released and that only the person who had been there could know. Reyes, who had been given the nickname "East Side Rapist" for a series of violent rapes along Madison Avenue in the spring and summer of 1989, had also attacked a woman in the park a few days prior to -- and not far from -- the April 19 attack.

I remember when I watched this the second it came out and honestly, within only the first episode it had my heart and tears and carried it throughout the other three episodes. This story crushed me especially since this actually happened. Those 5 men will always have to carry this tragedy in their lives and the years these people took from them will never been given back. No amount of money can bring that back. It’s so cruel how little the justice system has changed. We all need to do better for them. Because black lives do matter. They are precious.

Even though I know this story from beginning to end. I still shed a few tears when I realize how privileged I was to have a childhood. It’s so wrong how people can ruin others life just to suite some hatred they have of them. Because it was that, hate, that made them hurt and defile the lives of those young men. The trauma they went through will never be righted and I cannot count how much times I pray to God that they are covered in all way possible; that every innocent soul on this Earth is covered from the rath they might experience from the hands of evil. I really appreciate how you covered the fact that they were but in a box, a sick cycle of ‘justice’ they really placed a stigma over them til this day!!! When will the world hold these evil people that purposely ruin another’s life accountable? And not just for clout, give them a good sentencing for the crimes they commit on the body and mind of their victims. My heart goes out to all the innocent beings that are still in that retched system and I pray for the ones we lost. And the troubling part about all of this is that they made that Monster president, the same one that called for the death penalty, the same one that had a rape case going for him in that same time. This is fucked up

I just couldn't imagine in the US being a black or brown minority and this being any bit more probable than for white counterparts. It's disgusting because these normal people have an affinity for life, their family and friends, and then this happens---something that both in the moment and after incarceration, completely ruins their life---because of something as uncontrollable as skin color or cultural difference. Just disheartening. And yet it is only a nuance for systemic racism and inequity. I just wish the people involved for getting them wrongly charged would have gotten the proper repercussions

Even the Let Me Explain of When They See Us made me tear up. I hope nobody is ever in their situation ever again. The one I was most upset with is the prosecutor. Prosecutors have discretion to try cases. They exist to represent the general public. Which is both the initial victim and to call out the police when they violate people's rights. Though the initial arrest and interrogations never should have happened. And the police are 100% culpable for their sloppy and criminal "investigation". It's the Prosecutor who could have prevented the criminal charges and prison sentences.
