Writing this after a minute of the video, makes my blood boil the lies told about this. High unemployment and an increasing population (Jamaica 50,000 a year), this was for them not us. There were discussions about this in parliament, discussions about the birth rate and high unemployment but no invite. 75 years of lies, 75 years of this country slowly destroying itself. Now it is celebrated that we are a multicultural society, that is not something I will ever celebrate.
The Irish did far more than the Windrush . They ended up as bus and tube drivers, dockers, a very small contribution in comparison. The Polish also did far more, not only during WW2 but after it. Why are facts changed to please a group of people
They can only get by by lying. They've made no contribution to this country whatsoever. By far the least successful group of immigrants who ever came here.
Because a lot of non-black people have an ingrained fear of Africans cos they are slightly bigger on average. I really can't figure out why so many are willing to bumsuck them so I guess it's fear.
I heard a girl of Jamaica descent on the radio a couple of years ago saying ' we came over to rebuild your country ' like they'd done us a favour and we should all be grateful. Does she really believe that all the Jamaicans etc looked around their own Countries and thought ' there's nothing more we can do here we're in fine shape' and looked around to see what countries they could 'help'.? The youth of today are being brainwashed.
I watched The Repair Shop last night and every black guest was praised for the West Indian contribution to Britain..... Could someone please tell me what that contribution was? How many of those immigrants who came here to better themselves, actually contributed something exceptional, something that British workers had not been doing for centuries?
King Charles says they made an immeasurable contribution. Never heard him say anything about the millions of britons who fought for this country and came back to rebuild it after years of war. No cheap or free housing for them.
I remember the royals home video during the war, where the queen mother, young Elizabeth her sister Margaret were doing Hitler salutes. It was a known fact that their brother Edward who had regular contact with the Germans was a Nazi sympathiser.
When I think of the 'Windrush Generation' I think of the sheer level of criminality the Jamaicans brought over, and of which the English cities will never be free of. When King Charles talks about their ‘immeasurable’ impact I laugh and think, yes, but not in the way you mean.
I believe that the vast majority of the original Windrush immigrants were decent, law-abiding individuals, who just wanted to find a decent job. The issues with Jamaican criminality came about later - in the 70s and 80's when the Yardie gangs started to take advantage of the burgeoning drugs trade and poor policing in the UK. A Wiki page giving some background can be found here, although as with any Wiki entry, the accuracy is somewhat untested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yardie.
Agree entirely. The ‘wind rush mob’ were not invited and arrived on these shores purely as chancers. Their contribution to the so-called rebuilding of the UK has been small and of decidedly limited significance. Thank you for nailing the lie.
I don't like those of the chocolate persuasion either, but the people in the colonies didn't ask to be invaded & enslaved by Britain either, so the chickens have come home to roost. I no longer live in the UK as I've been in Germany for years. Germany is more multicultural than you'd think, but as Germany never had an overseas empire, though they did have possessions such as Namibia in southwest Africa, Germany never had loads of third world immigrants pouring into the country so compared to Britain, France, Portugal & Spain Germany though multicultural is fairly homogeneous compared to countries that had overseas empires. In short, you brought it on yourselves.
How long before we celebrate the arrival of the small boat people and their contribution to UK? No doubt the Royal Mint will issue a suitable commemorative coin...

Britain managed after WWI, and the loss of British men was two and a half time higher than in WWII. Why was post WWII any different? How did countries like Germany and Japan cope? They had much higher losses than the UK did.
How many Caribbean’s does it take to rebuild a country? Apparently four hundred or so. How does the old saying go, ‘a lie is half way round the world before the truth has got its boots on’.
"How many Caribbean’s does it take to rebuild a country?" One. One to do a little work, and the rest watching, whilst smoking weed. The oldies are the best.
We should not blame the "chancers" for coming here. It is the leftie politicians who allowed it to happen. Its a pity Enoch Powell was not our PM then. Japan seemed to do well with very little immigrants so did South Korea , so why can't we?

Why is nothing ever made of the Irish that came to the UK post war? These Irish men were forced to come here after fighting with the British. The Irish blackballed them and they couldn't work in Ireland because their tax codes were revoked. Towns like Swindon were packed with post war migrants from Ireland, Italy and Poland, building the railways, and the like. Italians were kept in "camps" in places like Somerset. Why are none of these people "celebrated"?
Could someone pass this video on to the BBC? They are obsessed with "The Windrush Generation" perhaps they could "Verify" it, then it needs to be seen by all MPs, it should be compulsory viewing for them!
When you have a King talking about this business in the way he does I can't see the BBC doing anything about it.Our political system is completely corrupt from the top down. The question is what are we going to do about it?
Still do, I spent 23 years in the forces, now working using those skills in the damnable NHS for what's it's worth these days. Have to say the actions of the those governing my former home towards Britain especially after Brexit, on behalf of their EU masters disappoints me greatly. I was brought up in Ireland at school hearing about the famine and the plantation times, but alongside that we read Shakespeare and heard all about the things that Britain did well. It was a balanced education and left me with no particular bad feeling towards those in the UK. I now have 2 sons here in the UK whom I bring up with the same feeling, to be proud of the achievements of this country.
So they basically overstayed their welcome and now want Compensation.Sums it up completely. This government is dangerous at giving out misleading information.

I think a lot of people of our generation will remember that a lot of the physical labour involved in rebuilding Britain was done by the Irish and the common joke in the sixties was the construction company, Wimpy, and that the letters were an abbreviation of 'we import more paddy's every year'. They all worked very hard in construction which, at the time, was a very dangerous industry.

Respect to your Dad; likely he served in the RAMC, a great bunch of guys. Interestingly, Japan lost far more working age men in WWII than we did, and yet they went on to become an economic powerhouse in the years following. Oh, *and* they were able to keep their nation homogeneous. Funny that.

It's very sad to think that these brave men were duped into fighting a war that would eventually see their nation slide into the gutter. As I mentioned in a reply to another chap, Japan lost far more of its workforce during WWII; and yet not only did it become a mighty industrial nation, it was able to do so *without* importing anyone.

It's like letting someone into your home who pays no rent, eats your food, stabs your son, and has his way with your daughter, expects you to be grateful for it, and calls you a racist for noticing.
Imagine the gall of colonising land, using plantations laboured through slavery of your ancestors, and then complaining when you want to move and share in some of the wealth. If you don't like it you shouldn't have colonised a third of the world. Actions have consequences.
One of them did that to me. I invited him in, fed him and did him favours where needed, only for him to brand me a racist when I mentioned one night at the pub that Britain was not systemically racist as there were no laws in place that would mean that were the case. We no longer speak.

It was an Australian initiative, and if Brits wanted to start a new life somewhere else. Then why not? Australia was developing rapidly, and in those days, they wanted Brits. The scheme, offering a token fare, was seen as an attractive proposition. That's why thousands took up on the offer.
Sand, the point is that if Britain needed all hands on deck to help rebuild her after the destruction of the war, then the government is likely to have blocked the emigration of these people to Australia. And are you suggesting that all these ten pound poms were happy to leave whenever Britain needed them most?
My grandfather worked for London Transport on the buses at the time. According to my family, the British LT employees weren't impressed, and with their union they fought the boses to get guarantees that the arrivals would not be allowed to become drivers, and were only to be employed as bus conductors. The employees feared that they were being replaced.
This is very true. The union membership were very concerned about their job security but it was blatant racism and ended up in the courts and the rest is history. Paul Stevenson who helped exposed the law breaking transport companies was assisted by a famous politian Antony Wedgwood Benn, who was very much respected for standing up for the working class in this country as does his son in parliament to this day. Hopefully if your grandads still in good health he would remember having to be a union member or no job "CLOSED SHOP", but it was the employers that operated the discrimination policies. It's so nice to hear the absolute truth from those that were there so respect to your grandad and you for listening!

Born in the Year of Accession of Elizabeth II, I was dragged all over the Country, because my late father was in the RAF. We lived in Cornwall, North Wales, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and - my mother being a Northern Scot - we were often in the County of Moray. If the "Windrush Immigrants" were helping to "rebuild Britain", how come I don't remember seeing anyone with a black skin, apart from one black Teacher at Odiham Primary School, in all my travels? Britain (if you do not define Britain as London and Birmingham!) was doing just fine, from my recollection. And it was certainly a safer place for children: which is why the Moors Murders caused such outrage in the Sixties.
I think if you revisit the places you have mentioned, proportionally not much has changed. But I'm glad you have at least acknowledged on this color prejudice platform that white people did and still do horrendous sexual crimes against children and women which many of your fellow commentators are in denial of.
The rewriting of our history makes me furious and having to listen to these people tell us they came here to rebuild our country, what rubbish! Here we are, with them telling us what they’ve done to make our country great again - you only have to look at the state of London to see you that’s not true- I’m fed up hearing them say what a wonderful contribution they have made to this country - The true fact is they were so poor in their own country with no jobs they couldn’t wait to get into England, it is they who should be paying us for giving them such a good quality of life compared to what they had.

He and his battalion were immediately seconded to the Royal Engineers and their job was to clear the bombed rubble and start to rebuild German cities! In effect he was pulling mangled, decomposed bodies out for almost 3 years and when he finally came home in 1948, found his previous job (telegram boy) had gone to a black man who had arrived from Jamaica and was being paid less than when my father was a 14 year old!

Returning from the War, my grand-father, like so many returning service people, found it hard to get work. He eventually joined the Groundnut Scheme in 1947 (another story!). The point is that, far from there being a desperate labour shortage at the end of the War, in fact, the opposite was true. Immeasurable crime
When I think of the 'Windrush Generation' I think of the sheer level of criminality the Jamaicans brought over, and of which the English cities will never be free of. When King Charles talks about their ‘immeasurable’ impact I laugh and think, yes, but not in the way you mean.
Their 'immeasurable' contribution to prostitution, rape, and drugs. Seems he somehow forgot to mention those particulars in his speech.
Have a heart, mate. They gave us a healthy and burgeoning drugs industry.

As the British armed forces were going through a massive programme of demobilisation and “bringing the boys home” as Clement Atlee famously promised in his 1945 campaign I can’t bring myself to believe that there was a Labour shortage in post war Britain. Quite the opposite in fact.
