IMO you're underselling the killer feature of Onion OS, which is that every time you power down the system with a quick power button hold, it also automatically save states where you are. Then when you boot the machine back up, it auto-loads the last game you played and also loads that save state. So you can get into and out of a game WAY quicker than basically any other handheld emulator. This makes it really perfect in the pocket factor, because you can so quickly pull it out and be gaming, and just as quickly put it away. Perfect for waiting for the train, a short car ride, killing 5 or 10 minutes here and there. I use it almost exclusively as my pokemon GBA romhack player. It's the perfect size to play RPGs 1-handed

I bought one of these and my girlfriend has completely taken it over to play a random GBA game called "Zooo!" constantly. This thing is the best handheld emulator on the market because it's actually portable and not so expensive that if it breaks you're going to be super sad. I got it a couple months before it went out of stock and prices jumped, but with shipping I was in for less than 70$. It can't be stressed enough how perfect this form factor and price point is for creating a device that you will actually take with you and use. I have one 2 tips first don't use the sd card USB adaptor its trash and will corrupt your card second the sd card it comes with is trash you have been warned plan accordingly besides that awesome little device a lot of customization as far as people making buttons and custom firmware you can even make custom boot screens and battery animations yourself or download some from someone who made one lots of cases on etsy stickers 3d printed grips the community around this is pretty amazing.

Pro tip: If over 40 y/o wear glasses when playing this tiny device. Switch the left trigger buttons to the right trigger buttons when playing Street Fighter games. Don't play for long periods to prevent fingers from cramping. Use the save feature in megaman 2 and don't throw your Miyoo Mini V2 into a wall out of frustration when playing megaman 2. Now sit back relax and enjoy your awesome pocketable handheld emulator device anywhere you want !

This thing is practically impossible to get in the US at the moment. I was selling these for about 65-70 each after getting them straight from a factory in bulk this summer. Then one day the seller just stopped filling orders. They said the factory was having issues getting the displays. And that they wouldn't be able to get more until mid August. Well, be late September they still weren't able to even send out 5 units at a time. So I gave up. Right now they're going for like 120-150 depending on the color, and you still might be waiting for overseas shipping times at that price.
All that Said, this thing is still fantastic. Just please don't go around spending 150 bucks on one, when they are almost certainly going to be available for closer to 50-60 by spring.

Dude I'm so surprised it took you so long to make a video about the Miyoo, Its the tiny handheld that goes everywhere with me. I never leave home without it, its nothing short of amazing what it can do in such a small package, Onion OS makes it pretty much a perfect device with no flaws.

I've always shunned these emulation devices in the past in favor of "original" hardware and software, but with the prices of original stuff through the roof these days, these devices are starting to become very appealing.

I got a RP2+ as an "upgrade" to my Miyoo, and I _hated_ it. If I never had the Miyoo, I probably won't have been quite as upset by it, but I use my Miyoo a lot more and the RP2+ sits and collects dust.
The problem with the RP2+ is that the buttons are *FIRM*. I don't have any way to test exactly how much pressure is needed to press a button, but balancing my 1/2lb phone on one still wasn't quite enough to press it down. That weight becomes more if you have to press 2 or more buttons down too. So my hands get really tired using the thing after only a few minutes. On top of that, the Android OS is extremely cumbersome compared to the Onion OS on the Miyoo. Cycling through my game lists and picking a new game to play on the Miyoo is as fast as possible. On the RP2+, I have to hope that Retroarch is set up correctly, and then select the correct core if it's not, or download a new one... etc. I can get it to work, but by the time I've got the game running, I'm not even that interested in having a session with it.
All that complaining aside, I have been mashing the buttons A LOT to loosen them up while the system is off, and I found a non-stock frontend called Daijisho that pushes the whole system to be a bit closer to the Miyoo experience. It's no longer collecting so much dust.
Edit: It's worth noting that the only thing I've done on the RP2+ that the Miyoo can't do is N64 games. But the controls are not at all set up to feel right for playing N64, so I haven't done much. There's a few other advantages, like being able to play games from the Play store, since it's an android device. I've dabbled around in GTA3, which is something I've owned for almost a decade, and purchased on my Google account before I realized how awful playing a game with a virtual touchscreen controller is. The odd screen size does mess up some apps though, since phones and tablets are not 4:3 ratio.

Almost immediately after I see the new model is selling for like 45 bucks after tax and shipping lol. I like the old model with a non corded battery though, it seems more modern.

In my head I'd put ps1 emulation at around the $100 mark.
It being able to do that at its price is pretty amazing.
Hell no to the form factor tho. Would be great if there were instructions to transplant this thing into a 3d printed case to move it to the gba form factor so the L and R buttons aren't horribly uncomfortable to use.

Still loving mine! I have both the PocketGo and the Miyoo, and waiting on the RP3. When you get a better one, you feel better about kicking the old one around. So even though I love my Miyoo the most (and soon it will be the RP3), I take the PocketGo with me anywhere now because I'm not paranoid about its screen getting scratched anymore lol.

Ngl alot of these alternatives are real nice, I just bought a 2DS XL and hope to mod it to play portable games. The Odin got my attention but I can't see myself playing a "2 screens in 1" device but seeing there's "Switch-Like" stuff out there able to play a various amounts of games I might be more interested in those
