The Elephant Sanctuary | Artie Meets Tange and Sukari

- On a recent afternoon, Tange, then later Sukari, took turns meeting Artie for the first time through the fence lines of Africa Habitat and the Elephant Health Care Center. Introductions require time, patience, and careful planning. Elephant Care and Veterinary Staff were on hand to observe and document the introductions to ensure safety of all involved.
As Artie traveled to the designated habitat area prepped to meet his new herd mates, he spotted Tange already waiting at the fence line and quickly made his way over to her. Artie, who stands 11 feet tall, reached high over the fence with his face and trunk stretched, touching Tange for as long as she allowed.
After a successful introduction, Tange chose to part ways and make room for Sukari to say hello. With her ears spread wide, Sukari slowly approached Artie, who was waiting to greet her with his forehead pressed against the barrier. A little more reserved, Sukari eventually reached out, and the pair began to touch their trunks. After a short while, Sukari seemed more comfortable towards Artie, occasionally walking away, then returning to let him get another sniff.
Flora, seemingly uninterested in joining her companions this time, exercised her autonomy by choosing to spend a quiet afternoon foraging at the Pipeline instead. Read more in our EleNote: elephants.com/...

Animals are so pure and filled with emotions like human yet we often undetmine their feelings and needs and end up hurting and killing them by foods, fashion, entertainment, experiment and absues. These land's most magnificant gaints, the elephants, are so gentle, yet many of them, too many, are suffering from porching, hunting, being chained and locked up for circus or tourist rides or other entertainment. Unfortunately far too few people know these facts or bother to wanting to know. Educating the general public is so important about what we human, whom have been entrusted of this earth and all beings in it, by God, must learn to coexist in peace and with respect of animals' right to live and be where they should be. Prayers to these beautiful elephants, all animals and every individual and organization who are dedicating to helping these vulnarable and voiceless beings 🙏

I think male elephants in the wild do not live in a herd but go off by themselves. They interact with females only for procreation. The females, their female relatives and offspring live together in a herd. Correct me if some of this is incorrect.

I appreciate Tennessee Sanctuary 😊Humans are keeping themselves at a safe distance and they are quiet that means they are respecting the elephant and space. When humans are allowed to touch bays or right and elephant that is a clear indication that elephant 🐘 has been tortured. If you love elephants love ❤them quietly at a safe distance. That is real love when you respect something 💯 other than yourself 😊😅🐘
