    You should all be happy that I didn’t make any “what did the fox say” jokes in this review. This in and of itself is the most difficult hurdle I’ve had to overcome on UA-cam.

      Thanks for the review dude I did pick this microphone up mainly for podcasting. I think for the price point its fine (personal preference not a big fan of the yeti) Very informative and non biased review loved it !

    Great channel. I see so many horrible microphone reviews, and not just from small channels, even channels with millions of subscribers do shitty reviews that don't even mention important information and they just focus on camera angles and barely even mention cons and mostly just say "it's a great microphone" even if it's terrible, leading viewers to ineffectively spend their money.
    Your channel is great - It's informative, effective and even entertaining. You can still improve but it is just sad that you channel doesn't receive the proper recognition it deserves.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  6 років тому +6

      Frausty really appreciate that. And I agree, There’s always something to improve and get better at. Anything that you think would be beneficial to include?

    • @frausty5577
      @frausty5577 6 років тому +3

      I think that many if not most people watch these videos under bad conditions, perhaps testing the microphone in an untreated room or with sound emitting devices so the viewer would have a guess of how it could practically sound for him under his own conditions. But in general you do cover bad scenarios such as keyboard typing, desktop mounting and so on.

    • @CryoftheProphet
      @CryoftheProphet 6 років тому +4

      Frausty I feel like the rate his channel is growing is actually proportionate to the growth of much bigger channels, I’ve noticed a snowballing of his channel with more and more engagement as he’s grown, one of the issues is gamers, gamers typically go with the more ubiquitous microphones rather than what would actually work best in their situation, a lot of the gold in this channel falls on deaf ears simply because their fav gamer is using a limited edition murdered out blue yeti not realizing they could substantially up their game with something like an sm58 and a decent preamp..

    Nice review! I've been using the same Beyerdynamic headphones for over 10 years (DT770 Pro/80) and love how well built they are. This is one I'll be keeping in mind if I need to be picking up a USB mic.

    Thanks for another brilliant and honest review. Have just purchased this mic 🎙 going to be using it on a boom arm for podcasting, voiceovers and webinar streaming. I managed to get it for $150 USD. BARGAIN! 💰 I just wanted something with warm tones, simple to use and affordable! Thanks for helping me choose. 😍

    • @toneee4472
      @toneee4472 3 роки тому +1

      how was it over the past months? was there any drawbacks or was pretty damn awesome? I'm looking to multi-use it for streaming and podcasting and may pick this one up the next couple of weeks.

    • @LiliaTarawa
      @LiliaTarawa 3 роки тому +3

      @@toneee4472 hey there. The main drawback is that there are only two gain settings on the mic itself. High and Low. I use it on the lowest gain which means that I have to have it position very close to my mouth. On the high gain setting it needs to be quite a bit further away from the speaker’s mouth and can be a bit echoing if you don’t have sound proof studio. Other than that it produces a crisp, warm sound that I’m super happy with. In all honestly o prefer the look and sound of the RODE NT-USB. (plus the ability to adjust the gain) - but the Beyerdynamic cost half the price and produces great quality so I would recommend it.

    • @Mohit-gg2vd
      @Mohit-gg2vd 2 роки тому

      @@LiliaTarawa I just bought it last week. I feel that high gain is meant for music recording where you have to capture lot of instruments and hence keep th mic far. On the other hand low gain is meant for recording vocals for which it has to kept close and it works in cardoid mode and cancels background voice very well

  • @sprEEEzy
    @sprEEEzy 2 роки тому +10

    I've been using it daily for 2 years now. It needs a pop filter (aliexpress is the only real option) and it needs proper EQing - a boost in that 7-9k range where it's cut. If you cover that, this mic sounds very well for the price.

    • @Danone10000

    I've been curious to see reviews of this microphone come out ever since it was announced. I love how it pretty much rejects anything once you're just over two feet away (well, at least doesn't pick up your voice anyways), as such could prove somewhat useful in a higher noise environment (say, one lives with family, or there's two of you that are gamers and just enjoy voice chat a lot), but wow your voice compared to a lot of the other reviews just sounds... Odd. I want to say weird, but "odd" and "different" feel more appropriate as a description.
    Any plans to compare this one to the Rode NT USB, or some of the Blue USB microphones?

    Hey man I'm trying to get into recording electric guitar/vocals on my computer. I watched a few of your reviews and couldn't decide on a mic to use for my guitar amp. Seeing as your WAY more educated than me in this field I was hoping you could recommend a solid mic for me in the 100-150 price range. Not sure if it matters but I'm using a Line 6 Spider V60 amp and a Schecter Synyster Gates custom C. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also I use windows 10 and I'd probably also use it as a regular mic

    On the bottom of the Mic, I noticed a serial number. This is potentially important should anyone try counterfeiting these mics, although that seems to pretty much be a problem mainly with Sure and Sennheiser mics. Those manufacturers should do the same or something similar as the cheap Chinese knock offs are a real problem. (only my MHK416 has a serial # on it, cannot think of any other mics I own that do so, and I own WAY TOO MANY mics) As always, enjoyed the review pally.

    • @CryoftheProphet
      @CryoftheProphet 6 років тому

      johnplightning I don’t think they will have to worry about knockoffs, 416’s are knocked off because they are a venerable mic and everyone wants one but doesn’t want to pay a grand, the sm58 is knocked off because of the sheer volume of them and it’s easy to fool unsuspecting buyers. You likely won’t see that with a usb mic lol

    What I dont understand, but maybe I do... is when you do the distance test, at one feet specifically, you sound far away. But when you sit one feet away when doing the deskop stand demo, it sounds way better. Is this al because of the audio being boosted +9db, instead of +2db earlier?
    It does sound perfect to me in the last situation, but when you do the distance test, its not something I would like to listen to. And im sure my friends on discord, would also disapprove :)

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  Рік тому +1

      Assuming you're connecting to a computer, I would probably go for the NT-USB mini just because it has some DSP processing. It's doesn't let you fine tune it, but it's functional and can improve your sound. So based on that alone, I think that would be the right choice for you if you're going to be click clacking on your keyboard in a voice chat.

    That Self noise level makes no sense to me. I cant tell the mic's signal to noise lvl with the specs you provided. (Signal-to-noise db = Max SPL dB - self-noise dB) I understand Rode NT1A S2N lvl is 132 as 132 db = 137 db - 5 db (www.rode.com/microphones/nt1-a) But the Mic changes its value system to dbfs for Self noise.
    Looking on the Worldwide Web I can't find any mention Self Noise for this mic besides the Dbfs value here. Anyone know its value? It cant beat a Rode NT1A but its bugs me when mic makers do this. The Blue Spark SL & Bluebird SL have a 15db self noise which they hid from their website like a jerk:/
