Any suggestions what would be good for someone with tiny veins that roll? I'm stuck using butterflies for regular blood draws which won't work for IVs. I hate being stuck 20 times in different places causing bruising and making me look like I'm on drugs every time I need an IV. I've even had veins collapse cuz too many ppl like to dig around in my arms with the needle
@@TheTee5231976 if you notice an older WOC phlebotomist or nurse on the unit and someone else jacks up the first stick, ask for that woman. It sounds terrible but I'm not joking. Any non-white woman who's been there for years & years has had to be better than the best. There's a really good chance she'll be able to get a solid line planted with minimal effort. AND she'll listen when you tell her something because she is accustomed to not being heard, so she does better for her patients than she gets treated. It's not guaranteed to work all of the time but my care has drastically improved when I've asked for such a switch.

Every Paramedic/EMT has that couple of patients that are basically seen on a weekly to daily basis, just like any ER Doc or Nurse has that couple of homeless that's brough in for intoxication or ODing on a weekly to daily basis.

One day while they were at lunch, we rearranged their driving cones to spell out P-gs. The very next day, we came back from lunch and every single one of our boots were all tied together in a huge line with matching boots being randomly tied to non matching boots.

one of the things i've heard about being a doctor (or anyone working in healthcare) is that you never really stop studying. in addition to just making sure you know all the standard knowledge and retain that knowledge, you also have to stay updated on advancements in research, updated practices, etc. studying never really leaves ur life as a doctor.

Most jobs like this have the school, the test, and then the long ass on the job training. Military is especially like this. Literally went to tech school and passed with flying colors, go to my first base, i get to relearn everything i learned through tech school again in book form to pass another test while on the job training. 3 years later im still learning, 3 more years later i got it down pretty well, but still have experiences i need to learn from. Shit never ends.....experiences are all unique, you just get better at handling it due to prior related experiences. And even then, shit still surprises you every now and then. Passing the test was the minimal....the rest of your career is where the real learning comes in.

Sometimes something that is brand new and top thing it's first day will be off the shelf the next because something better came along overnight..... It's that way with the way things are done sometimes as well.... EMTs are sometimes and usually the first to see a patient and triage them.... You would think that first responders like that should and always should be the first to know and learn anything ❤
