Very neat!
I have been thinking before I teach a class on making a leather belt @ Makers Mill that I would make a leather template just to hold the inexpensive oblong punch while I hold it on top of the strap to be cut when I put it under the clicker press. I thought one would work well for you when I saw you using the press to cut off the round end. Just a thought...

I usually just do it by the eye. After doing over 300 belts now you get a hang of doing things by feel. But a template would get it more precise. 👍
