I just use a 1” oblong punch for the buckle and when I’m using these decorative screws I have to use a 3/16” hole punch for the post to fit and then a 5/32” for the screw holes
Unless someone requests otherwise I space my holes 1” apart on adult belts. I put them closer together on kids belts, dog collars, and other small straps.
hey man, this video was very helpful. I have a question if you dont mind, I'll try to do something similar on my own but obviously dont have a stitching machine haha, so I'll do it manually. what stitching irons would you say are going to achive that stitching distange that you're using here, 4mm, 5mm? Thanks!
When I get close to the point, I just use my hand wheel on my machine to manually run the needle and adjust my project to where it needs to be. It doesn’t always come out perfect
I usually buy the decorative screws that I used in this video in size 3/16” but I almost always have to use a different screw than what comes with them to make it work.
@@Girtyleatherco I appreciate the response because I recently bought some berry Conchos that looked similar to yours, and they were entirely too short to make it through my belt.
I was always told to take the pant size of the customer and add 14” which has usually worked out to my success. I noticed you set your belt holes a little further back. What’s your method for measuring a belt?
I usually make my belts with the size being the measurement from the center of the fold, where the buckle connects, to the center hole. From the center hole to the tip I usually add 7 inches unless the customer requests something different. I have heard a few ways to go about it but what you mentioned is new to me!
How do you guarantee your lines meet up perfectly at each tip? I always find I’m having to physically adjust the leather by raising the presser foot and align it that way. I did notice your hand was doing some kind of adjusting of camera….whats the easiest way to achieving this? Thanks!
@@Girtyleatherco yes exactly. Any time I’m sewing to a point or tip of a pattern I find it difficult to understand how to make tight crisp corners and redirections without a lot of physically manipulating the leather. It gets frustrating
If I’m on the same page as you, then I do the same thing. Whenever I’m reaching a point I typically use my hand wheel to control the needle more. I lift the presser foot up and if I have to, slightly adjust the leather to make sure that the needle is coming into contact where I want it to go. From there, I just manually complete the stitch and rotate my project. Does that make sense?
I did end up making one for this belt, as seen in the thumbnail; however, some customers request to not have one. A keeper isn’t necessary with some types of buckles, like a trophy style for example.
Those decorative Chicago screws are sweet!
They add a nice touch!
This looks brilliant, mate. You make it look so easy.
Many thanks!
Great looking belt
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous
I really appreciate it!
amazing work it looks so simple ill have to try it
It is a fairly simple project but adds a cool touch on a belt in my opinion!
Daaaaaamnnn is that a nice belt!!!
I appreciate you!
Nice work ❤
Thank you!
That’s my favorite belt style. Now I just have to make one. Well done! New sub here.
It’s so simple but gives a really neat look! I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Good job and informative video, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
THANKS beautiful work forever support and me suscribí . From California
Thank you so much!
Great work!
Nice, keep grinding...
I appreciate it!!
Super nice. Are you using the feed dog, or you mind elaborating on what feet you're using?
Looks great! What size bag punch and hole punch do you use? Thanks!

Great video! What are the measurements for the buckle holes?
@wiccanwarrior9 oh I must have skipped over it then.

Awesome
Wow.Where did you buy the jigs? Thank you best regards
They are from Makers Leather Supply!
Thank you very much
Cool, I can’t do the freehand Groover, though.
It would look perfectly fine without doing it, that’s just something I prefer!
Have you tried using the maker's leather supply guide to groover for the gunslinger curves (like a curved ruler) instead of freehand?
I haven’t thought of that but I will have to give it a try, thanks!

4mm or 3mm would be very close to my stitch length on this belt!
What kind of contact cement are you using? Great video by the way.
I appreciate it! I just use Barge All Purpose
@@Girtyleatherco thanks for the quick reply.
How do you get the stitches on the pattern to end exactly a full stitch length at the apexes/turns? Do you mark it with a stitching chisel 1st?

@@Girtyleatherco thank you for the reply
i'm making one of these as my first belt currently, hand stitching it all, my thumbs and pointer fingers hurt so bad
I’ve hand stitched my fair share of belts but never with this stitch pattern…I can only imagine!
@@GirtyleathercoI’ve hand stitched many belts like this one. It is a meditation!
What size conch is do you buy for your belts? I recently got some and bought the wrong size

Are you referring to the points on the gunslinger pattern itself? Like how to make the stitch finish right at the tip?

What stitch length do you use on your machine? I tried 10 but it is loo long.
what class of the cobra u using ?
I have a Class 26 and I love it!
No loop in the fold?

Друг сколько стоит твоя коричневая швейная машина ?
They are a few thousand dollars depending on the style and brand. Mine was close to $3,000 but I purchased a few other attachments for it as well
Hurts my feelings seeing you cut all that meat out of that belt with that groover
