- Today I show you how to install an oil pan heater or block heater in my wife's 2003 BMW X5 e53 with the M54 engine. We live in a cold climate and installing an oil pan heater will assist with cold starts on cold days in the winter.

Jist put the heater on a timer too im sure that would make it earier to use everyday

Yeah the bigger one would probably work better but it might be a bit too big for the bottom of the pan.

Yeah the big one on these M54s is the oil filter housing gasket
Lols i live in Phoenix… disregaurd video… jk ha im so glad i dont havte to plug in. It barkey reached under 38 F last night ha. Although my old diesel like anything under 50 F
