    I get exactly 19.1 mpg around town and recently accrued 6K miles since new.
    Fixing to take a road trip to CO and looking forward see what highway mpg will be. I have a Rubicon in garage next to my OBW and we LOVE. LOVE, LOVE this Subaru! We recently put a 75” OLED tv from Costco in rear, closed hatch with room left over, and I’m 6’10”…
    This is an amazing vehicle that is useful, capable, nimble and extremely comfortable.

    Was NOT expecting that.. Looks like a great combo for folks looking at the "smaller/lighter" end of things.

    You have to get used to the wheel slip before the power gets distributed to wheels with the most traction, so letting off the gas when there’s wheelspin is not letting the drive system do it’s thing. Great test though, one of the best I’ve seen.

    OK, that was almost unbelievable to me. I am ordering one tomorrow to pull my off-road trailer. The video sold me. Honest!

    I’m a fan of Subarus (had an outback several years ago). I’d go with a Ridgeline or Colorado if my lifestyle involved towing a trailer like this all the time.

    I wish my wilderness would get 33mpg, city low low 20s, highway up to 30 when you drive slow-is and don't floor it to accelerate. Besides that I love my wilderness.

    I was towing a 2300lb rockwood Aframe with my forester wilderness. It wasn’t great. Sold that for a Silverado. I’m curious to how the turbo motor would do in the outback.

    Subaru’s pin connector is only a 4 pin so you can’t connect trailer brakes using the pin connector.

    I'm definitely impressed with the Subaru. Now imagine going down that hill with trailer brakes, wouldn't even push you probably.

    Not a 9 and a half Inch lift 9 and a half inch ground clearance 9 and a half inch lift imply that there's a 9 and a half inch lift kit above factory suspension

    Can you tow the trailer in reverse

  • @johneskrich362
    @johneskrich362 3 роки тому +1

    What the scale weight of the trailer? Tongue weight calculated or estimate? Does Subaru offer a tow package, manufacture/dealer installed hitch and wiring harness? What was the wind speed and direction relative to the rig at highway speeds? In the manufactures literature does it address using vehicle for towing? What are the suspension components? what configuration did you have the drive train in during your climb? This is just a few quick questions that I could write down while watching your video.

    • @jonedwards2107
      @jonedwards2107 Рік тому

      Tow package is a class III hitch, with, so I have been told, a 7 pin connector.

    Up to 33 miles to the gallon? Nope. I love my wilderness best I ever got was 25 miles to the gallon on the freeway on a trip. I live at over 4000 feet (real wilderness) and hardly ever actually see the open road. On a good day I get 15 miles to the gallon.

    I call BS a lot of people say the complete opposite with lighter trailers on the highway. No man with any honesty knows a unibody car is a white knuckle experience weighted to max. Then a loaded car of people?
    What’s the weights of 4 people plus trailer tongue ?
    Shameful

    HEY THIS IS FOR SUBARU Future Owners !!!
    This car have less memory than a jellyfish,
    If you set up the Auto Start Stop off then you have to do it EVERY FREAKING TIME! that you turn on your vehicle same thing with the AVH.
    Tom Tom navigation package is so dated that my Microsoft navigation of 2004 on my laptop had more features than this useless Navigation-system
    The wave feature on the back to open the Trunk is so smart that it works when she wants .
    CarPlay still not wireless! so why they offer wireless charger?
    And stay away of the Wilderness trim . The skid plate from Subaru is like aluminum foil.
    But if you put the after market you void your warranty.
    They try to make lighter by sacrificing the bodywork, it is so thin that you don’t want layback in any door or you may will dent it.
    Look under the driver seat and you see how they do this car, you can see layers of insulation exposed.
    And many others things that for 42k that I paid should it made so much better; my drone or my phone have more advanced technology than this car.
    The sad part is that Toyota Honda and now Subaru turned down their quality that is not worth it to spend so much money on their cars.
    SUBARU Made in Singa-poor) just labeled as Walmart Underwear.

      Point by Point rebuttal. I agree about the auto start/stop. I've had to get into the habit of doing this each time I start the car. Tom Tom is dated but it works. You can use a standalone or your phone if you prefer. Tom Tom will get you there IF it can confirm the address. I could not get it to navigate to MY HOUSE that has been there for 50 years. Other than that it works great. There is more to the wave feature than meets the eye. I too thought mine did not work. It does, but you have to listen for the tone, and BACK AWAY or it will not open. This is a safety feature. Once I knew what it wanted it has consistently worked for me. People do not understand skid plates on Unibody CUV's like the Subaru. If you get a super hard skid plate that doesn't deform, dent, or move on it's mounting bracket what you basically have is a damage transmitting device that will drive the mounting points up into the bottom of your unibody frame. Jeeps and Trucks have FRAME mounted skid plates. Hybrid Crossovers would do better to follow Subaru's example and design plates that absorbe impact and make noise, indicating that perhaps you should change your line. Meanwhile, yeah, your shiney skid plate is damaged, but your CAR is not. And that is the point. I've had my Wilderness for about a month and I personally have been impressed with it. I haven't tried the car play, but I have an android, so it would be android auto. You have to plug it IN OMG the effort! Me thinks you doth protest too much, and much if it is not really deserved. Things like the low res cameras and low lumen backup lights that I had to replace with LED's are annoying, but that is not why I bought this car. It is a brilliant platform for what I need it to do. I have never loved a car this much..I have upgraded the wheels and tires and it sits about 3/4 inches higher than stock, no rubbing, and over 10 inch clearance. Plenty of power and torque. I am getting decent MPG on my heavy stop and go commute, about 22 MPG, and on a recent longer trip to LA that was mixed traffic and long stretches of high speed, I was getting about 24 MPG. With this in mind, I think I can easily get 28+ MPG on long flat stretches of interstate road trip if I stay off the gas. The Turbo WILL turn this into a little hooligan machine and eat a lot more. This car is going to eat up sand islands and beaches, desert hard pan, snow and truck trails, and that is what I bought it for. Databyter

      @10AGLIA 2 роки тому +1

      @@Databyter Thank you for your reply!
      I love the platform concept as well Databyter. And to respond you quickly, they start this model for the outdoors and road-trip ppl but they run high on budget so they probably have to cut cost. If you been in a productions meeting where $ is the boss you know how it works, so engineers do their best to wrap up the original concept and keep it in the budget.
      But I just have 6k driving on it and only winter season. I still recommend the after market skid plate. Transfer energy from a pointed rock that can break your differential won’t damage the mounting points believe me.
      About your sarcastic comment of connecting the phone,it is not the effort that I pointed here is the practicality of use it, and have wires connection. But if you have an option of wireless phone charge and Bluetooth connectivity how much effort will be for them to make CarPlay connecting wireless? Look I make my comment based on 100 of videos and my own experience.
      If for you pay 42k $ and after you bought you still need to work around and keep spend money on it to customize, good for you that you have that extra $$$ .
      But the bright side of your comment is that you bring another thing that I need to modify, and that is the backup lights. For a moment I thought that I start to getting nyctalopia( night blindness).
      Cheers!

      As for me, I dont want any technology, no touch screen none of these safety features, but it is what it is these days. On my crosstrek I have never used anything but the FM radio. But all that crap isn't why I buy a vehicle. I wish I could find a vehicle that only has AC, and cruise control. Manual windows, manual door locks and just a regular key with no buttons. Those days are gone
