You're either super passionate about being an INFJ or you were venting out all of the frustration against people who think they know you better than your own self and typing you as an NP type. It's understandable. You are pretty clearly an NJ type, I mean, your flow of thought is so clear, it's not bouncing between ideas. NPs (I'm one - INFP) will put a point across from multiple perspectives, and jump a lot between topics. And it is even visible in their body language. There's a sense of them having a conversation with another part of themselves. They'll tilt one way, say a point, and then tilt the other way and offer a counter argument. NJs are like a straight head, to some it comes off as focused, to some it might be like they're under attack. (See what happened back there? Jumping. Also, brackets. Very NP. NJs continue on the same thing in the same sentence). Also, NPs will pause between sentences. Like, trying to contain that storm in their heads before they speak. NJs, on the other hand, may go on and on about the same theme. THE POINT IS (I really need to stay on point) those who mistype you need to read more about type theory before invoking their brains.
Thank you for this marvelous and inspiring and amazing video on the INFJ thought highways v INFP rugged trails. After 75 years of life, I now understand why I think the way I do!
I love the way you are encouraging us to move towards bringing our strengths together to bring about further growth in each other and ourselves. Its a much better alternative then the “us vs. them” mentality thats so prevalent in our society. Awesome video!!!
NP and NJ are an interesting comparison because I think they just happen so often in relationships. Most intuitive couples seem to consist of an NP and NJ. I think like 80% of the people do really gravitate their opposites when it comes to P and J (in sensors and intuitives). Just like E and I, I think P and J are the letters who are most often different. I think the P and J. This also might have to do with the fact that they're so easy to spot in individuals. It's harder to guess if a person is a feeler or thinker, than to find out if the're a perceiver or judger. I think both groups really gravicate towards eachother. Since most intuitives seem to like intuitives and most sensors seem to like another sensors, this automatically results people dating eachother who are Ne or Ni. (NP or NJ).y
This is so good. I am finally understanding NJ and why they dont think like me. So interesting. Really impressed once again with how well you can empathize with NP. Its amazing.
Erik, you continue to be one of the best navigators in the "MBTI" progression, and you do so with a nobility to your work. I can't say it enough, but I'll say it again: THANK YOU for doing your part to facilitate the personal development of your fellow human beings! PLEASE keep going!!! ^_^
Thank you, thank you thank you for saying that, I will keep working on myself and going deeper and deeper, we are going to figure out all the mysteries of the human mind together one day! 😊
A lot of that is true as an NP, but I think what gets lost is life in stages. I took a good decade or more of adulthood, suspended judgement and had an open mind, to all option while following my intuitive path, changing directions when I needed too, but I looked at all skill building as you are always learning carry over skills which can keep up or contribute to where you prefer to be in the future, while doing alternate things, I tend to look at what a do as a cycle set through the year. The years i spent swallowing all the information I could on topics which I could never know and speculate on things, in so many different areas, has allowed me now in my nearing 40's to have an incredibly good idea about the larger picture and I can jump from the micro to the marco more easily than most people now. Where as in the past I would say I don't know, because there was too little information to say. I can speculate where there are gaps in my knowledge, I include human limitation in there in comparison to what I can know of other species of I have observed and read. Think of it like a sudoku, you're in one of the boxes and you can't see all the other boxes to access all the given information as you are young, but as you collect, open mindedlly explore each path, you collect informative hints, which allow you to fill in and explore other boxes. The process takes a lot of time, but I feel it's open mindedly flexible, and accurate in the long run.
Haha great video. This NP, NJ dynamic is probably a big part of why I like your stuff so much. It was interesting to hear your descriptions of how you create. I'm so different I listen to everyone toy with there ideas fore a while, thinking ok, what would it lead to if this is true or does this fit with what I allredy know or does it work if I try to use it. I also do that thing you diskribe there I can explain a thought I have and the suddenly switch perspektiv and say on the other hand and start to explain why everything I just said is wrong. I think NP needs fule it isn't very creative on its own. I feel very strongly that I need a spark from someone else to get going and I need to bounce ides back and forth.
I can see why someone might think you are an NP but how you are truly NJ. I see from your website you are Enneagram 9w8. Interestingly, I am also 9w8 and ENFP yet present much more reserved than the “typical” EN type. Interestingly, out of years of working with hundreds of clients, 9w8 is one of the rarest types I have encountered.
As an NFP (can’t decide which one), I’ve always naturally gravitated towards other NPs and NJs, but I’ve never been able to see the NPs as potential partners and it seems to be the same for them. We all recognize each other as great and well rounded people, but there’s still this silent need for someone who’s less chaotic than we are. Most of our interactions are based on jokes, movie references, random mentions of our latest obsessions and letting it escalate from there until we’re having another existential crisis at 3 am. There’s a ton of intelectual stimulation, but in a very casual, fun way. NJs on the other side...damn, especially INTJs, no matter that they’re in the middle of a crowd, they’ll always catch my eye. The one’s I’ve met always seem to be both annoyed and amused by my incapability to stay on a single track. They almost feel responsible for helping me focus and I feel responsible for helping them see other possibilities when stuck on something that’s not working great for them. Most of our interactions are fairly similar to the ones with NPs, but there’s more of this raw sense of intellectual growth because Ni never fails to deliver insanely interesting and novel ideas. I always walk out of the conversation feeling energized and wiser, and both my INTJ and ENTJ friends have said the same.
Visualization, that is one of those concepts that requires some translation on my part to understand that it it something that I supposedly do. I just "step into it" sometimes. A state, an act or something. I don't consider myself a visualizer to me that is like what an artist is doing. They imagine things inside their heads with clear images and then they sketch their vision. I see something and understand without understanding, from seeing it, and then I may become that. Sometimes I pull what I need to handle a situation from empty space. I just know I can do it, without knowing it. I see the crow watching me, watching everything, deem it a useful state and become its watching. Instant meditation. If anything I engage the opposite of visualization. Just imagining things is no help unless you can become what you imagine. I pull back from imagining things so that things may get real. It's enough to know that things are possible the rest is hard work and magic.
This is the one thing as an NP that I find tiring about NJs. They get married to one idea only and get obsessive and look at it through a telescope and keep building upon it. Whereas when i say that the future is open and I like to see how it unfolds and "let's see what happens" it gives my NJ friends acute acidity ;) Its like they've shut their minds to anything else happening except that singular idea they've got. Causes a lot of friction with me and my NJ friends because nothing for me is set in stone.
As an NP, when all else fails, I try to use logic with my NJ bestie. But if there are time constraints, it's over. Assuming we're working together, the only option is to offer to do the majority of the grunt work of coming to a small, specific set of underlying concepts that guide our path. Otherwise, the plan falls apart, the goal is dropped, or we follow his system and "see what happens."
Cool video. Yeah. As an infp I am spasmodic with all ambitions. It's like I'm a juggler of dreams. I'm also like a ping-pong ball coming across information. Thanks for this video. Have an awesome day. Peace.
If you are feeling conflicted with what career path to take (I could pursue this but what if I want to change to something else or what if I don’t like it?), is there any possibility that you can be an NJ type or would that automatically make you something else?
Saw your lack of coffee comment down a bit further, lol.. glad you're doing well. I'm hanging in there.. looking to make a career change, but not sure what I want to do yet. Feeling a little too compassionate to work in the environment I'm in atm.. too much Ni in a non-intuitive place involving teens with special needs.. I see too many failures, and neglect.. stuff that we were taught to not allow.. but when you're an intuitive perfectionist and people on your "team" aren't.. it is difficult to be heard/understood.. but it is what makes me good at my job.. people just seem to want to take the easy road.. anyway.. part of me doesn't want to give up for what I can provide, but I'm becoming extremely burnt out and wonder if I should do something that involves giving so much of myself.

NJ-NP pairing: Intellectual growth
NP-NP pairing: Self-awareness
NP-SJ: Development, self-control self-discipline
nailed it
What about NJ- NJ pairing

NP serves ideas to the NJ to filter, when an issue occurs down the path then NP ideas out...

I'm an INFP and always feel that there's more of a dialog going on in my head rather than a monolog. 😅 Now I get better why that is. 😊

You seem fairly tired or sad :/ I hope you're fine!
Besides, another insightful and inspiring video. Thank you very much :)
I'm okay, I recorded the video early in the morning, just before I started work. Coffee had not kicked in yet. :)
So glad, you're fine :)
Most NF types I know are no morning people (myself included), but it may be a coincidence ;). Have a nice day, Erik! :)

Phenomena = plural of phenomenon, you used the incorrect form in your description.
Thanks! I got a bit lost on that word for a sec
@@ErikThor no worries man, I tend to confuse that word myself. I am also not a native speaker. And tbh phenomena sounds way cooler hehe.
