Hey Captain, NE resident here, turkey Barry used to be Gearo's second location, original location was Bustleton near Longshore closed many ywars ago.
sad to see Gearo's close. I think that was there since I was born (1981) or close to it.
The Whitman plaza was the former site of 2 food manufacturers, Whitman chocolates and Mrs Paul's. My mom's friend worked at Mrs. Paul's until they closed it in the 90s when the whole area was sold for development.
After you cross the Boulevard, you are in Bustleton, the neighborhood where I grew up. Greenberg is where I went to from 2nd to 8th grade.
Where the Lowe’s and bestbuy is use to be Whitman Chocolate factory. They built that area around 15 20 years ago
If you have the patience, anywhere is within walking distance. 😮
Nice scoot around today Captain. 🇬🇧
Yo Cap, be safe out there. I would say go get a concealed carry license and get strapped to protect yourself but something tells me that's not your thing.
The Lowes shopping center was Whitman's chocolates. Not sure when the shopping center opened.
I think somewhere around 2000. Maybe even a little earlier.
I just sold my Mom's Condo there at Welch & The Blyd. Excelsior Condominiums behind that Sunoco. I also lived at Grant & the Bully for awhile.... Good video Cap!! Great blast from the past for me!! ****YEAHHHHHH****
My mom lived on the second floor of that condo building. Wow, excelsior condos. They were very nice. That area is destroyed now.
@joecarey4356 Maybe my mom knew her... my mom passed away in October of 2021... Forcing me to have to sell her Condo on the 1st floor. Condo 115. That area has gotten worse... but alot of Philadelphia had gotten worse... & especially with Crime. Thanks Buddy!
@sammybull7 my mom was there from2006 to 2012. She lived in the 2nd building from the end if coming from the Blvd. The parking was in the back.she had the 2nd floor. She had a balcony. Think they all had a balcony. Such a great location. So sad.
most of the city is a dump now
Lewis treated his children horribly.
You are extremely entertaining. I haven't heard any "real" informative information but yet I'm captivated by your wit and demeanor. Keep up the good work. Having fun watching you. Maybe you should start your own podcast.
Thank you to your brother for his service
Thanks for another awesome video I enjoyed watching seeing your state
The turkey berry was Gearo's. They had Catered events upstairs and a dining room on the first floor. Then there was rooms downstairs for events also. My family had several memories in there lol. They had another location in the lower NE on Bustleton Ave I believe. Moved outta Philly almost 8 years ago and I hate to say it's the best thing I ever did for my physical and mental health!!!! I would self cancel if I ever had to move back there! Thanks for the stroll (scoot) down memory lane!! Lived in the NE all my life. Used to go to Tower to buy concert tickets.
that bus stop with all the carts is where a drunk driver killed my friend in the middle of a summer night back around 1987. my buddy had kicked his habit for a year and was going to nursing school during the day and was working a booth at a nearby gas station at night. we'll this drunk driver was doing close to 100 mph when he drove straight through the bus stop - killing my friend and he didn't stop until he was nearly all the way down the the next street. cops came about 3 am banging on my door because he was my roommate until just a week before. I had to go tell his father because the philly PD didn't want to.
lost all respect for cops and drunk drivers with the same sunrise.
You were next of kin I guess. Mad with you at the DUI guy
Not that this matters, but I wonder if he was working at the texaco on bustleton ave? I dont remember another gas station near there on the blvd but my memory would probably be better starting around 1990. Sorry to hear about your friend.
You got the most Philadelphia accent I've ever heard in my life.
General Grants used to be in there, the 80s a popular bar.
I used to party there.
I went there maybe 20 years ago.
Nice place
it was still there even 10 years ago. It was always crowded. Surprised it closed
Yo Philly Captain 🎉 awesome tour. Stay out of red lobster it’s disgusting nothing is fresh except the attitudes 😅
Hey Dude...cool shoes...comfy too
I lived at Woodward St. & The Blvd. for 11 years. Brings back memories.
Thought you were talking about The Bus Stop @ Harbison and Torresdale 🍻 😂
Nifty Fifty’s is my favorite place to go with my dad
North of Pennypack Creek is Far NE.
I remember the Jerry Lewis Telethon it used to come on every Labor Day weekend in the 70's throughout the early 2000's here in Chicago
I answered 📞 for them one time 70’s Colorado Springs.
Fun experience.
Love action kid- get well soon
Im from delco and i would have to say it probably was a peaceful protest ❤
I'm old enough to remember the Jerry Lewis telethon. I watched on it TV when I was younger. The Turkey Berry on Welsh used to be Gearo's Grille. I went to Baldi back in the mid 80s for 6th and 7th grades. Those shopping carts at that bus stop are also from the people that sell bottled water. They load the carts up with bottled water from Walmart and push them out to the Boulevard and stand in the middle of the Boulevard selling them to cars driving by.
Hi Captain, I had my kids in Somerton in 80~s backed up to the old Byberry State hospital across from Armory off the boulevard, do you know any of that history or pics, just asking, I love your videos
We used to cut school and go walk around Byberry!! Omg that place was crazy dangerous but so so cool!!! Also used to love the smell of Nabisco!! Years (10-15) after i graduated I lived over by Franklin Mills and could always smell Nabisco!!!
I remember Tower Records you are talking about.
Korvettes way back in the day!
When did the Best Buy move from Red Lion down to Grant? It was up there since the 90s. Anything take its place up there? Bustleton is my hood. grew up in the neighborhood you road around in but I was a little farther north past Anne Frank. I was surprised you didn't point out BVM across from Gearo's. That's where a lot of us went to school.
Philly captain. Buy the USA new balance 990 best sneaker ever I walk 5 miles every morning unless it rains. They last like 3 years
Hey Philly Vaptain, great video thru NE Phila..Adam the Woo bought a DGI Cosmo 3 camera per your suggestion..Tootles..
I knew eventually this was going to start happening, it was inevitable, the scooter jacking. You can't have anything in this city without some idiot robbing.
8:34 how’d you fit through there? Impressive
Practice
I think there was a Gordon Phillips at that same spot that there was a bartending school
Wow
New balance 461's. Best sneaker I ever had. Been buying them for years.

I am aware. Don’t write bro.
Dudes on a bike or scooter man
Scooter
@@christinecollins6302 I think that's clear lol. That doesnt mean there are no laws pertaining to it.
Gearos was the shit!!!
👍
The shrimp story isn't true. The last company to own them, sold off lots of their assets. Basically looted the company
I got read up on my red lobster News
Love watching your videos on my tv.But when you turn your head away from the mic the sound goes down 😢.
New camera is coming. Should resolve that issue
Olive Garden isn’t bad , five below and Menchie’s Fro Yo
I feel like your here in S Florida. All the stores are exactly the same. I just don't see no palm trees
Very similar are red lights aren’t as long as yours
Asics sneakers
Love my asics gel 180
Lowes,Walmart used to be WHITMANS! chocolates you know?! Dude anyone from NE Philly knows that!
I'm from Port Richmond
Don’t those shopping carts lock when they try to leave the parking lot??
Oh God, my son just bought a scooter, smh. Can't have nothing
That is true. You can't have nothing. It doesn't exist. LOL
@@bindig1 haha smh, it's always one
This is more central northeast, definitely not far northeast.
this is bustleton. whats far northeast to you?
👍🛴👍
That's one of the things that kept me from buying is good, besides the price "I'm the one that I would need" 2000 to 4,000 is not chump change" but yeah pulling guns knives or surrounding the people and taking the scooters.
Very sad. Used to be a beautiful area. Now, it's turning into the hood.
Are you freakin kidding me!? You don’t like Sketchers?!!? Because there old people shoes?!!? I got bad news for you dude. Anybody over 30 is old! 30 is the new 20. 40 is the new 30. BS old is just old. If you haven’t figured,I like Sketchers!
You sound like an old person who wears sketchers.
I know this has nothing to do with your tour.
But I hate this city I had to move here 5yrs ago from North Central NJ after my mom died and I got evicted from my childhood home and had to leave all my possessions behind and moved to Tacony to take care of my bedridden disabled sister. I know this may sound petty to
Some of you. Some assholes took all my magnets off my car in our driveway some of them had very special
Meaning to me like the fire department ones and the cat ones Also
Someone came up up driveway and took my
Granny push groceries cart I use to go shopping I'm also disabled andy car isn't working and I can't afford to get it fixed so
I have that walk the the stores what right does
These scumbags have the go onto somebody's
Property and steal there
Stuff. The cops don't do a Damm thing a matter of fact they don't even come when you call them. I. Respect the police but why bother
Have a police department when they
Don't care. In jersey if you get caught stealing
You go to jail not hear. I was at Wawa and there was a cop in the store a kid walked out to Frankford and the cop went out to get him. And let him leave when
He gave back the stuff
He stoled. This shoplifting has to stop. But not until the cops do there job. Captain I enjoyed your river walk
Tour it should the place
I go larking at.😊
GCC Northeast 4
no where near there
@@JonnyAbs-0 uh, yes it was.
@@magicrooster forgot in this video he was by the blvd. he was up by bustleton and grant at one point by the united artists theater
Farrell elementary

@@ThePhillyCaptain Bingo👍👍
@@ThePhillyCaptain i might have missed the part where you said why you didnt bartend? I know you said most that go to school for it dont do it but i dont think i heard why
