Actually this isn't a glitch. It's the spambots' strategy of getting around Tumblr's strict spam filter. I and many other users have been restricted from sending or receiving DMs before just for copy gluing the same message to more than two accounts. The people who programmed the spambots have figured out that if you insert randomly generated letters in each iteration of the junkmail it will qualify as unique. Also this is not really AI, more like a few lines of rudimentary code to modify a predetermined bottom of the barrel mass junk mail phishing/scam/etc attempt.

anyone who has tumblr is very familiar with these kinds of bot dms. i get them all the time. they just insert random sequences of 3 letters at random in the message for some reason
I wonder if its supposed to be a way of throwing off the bots that'd normally catch these bots... but from what Ive heard of Tumblr, I wouldnt be surprised if it didn't have those moderation bots to begin with lol
