  • Emerald-green fields, hills covered by heather, sheep herds, lakes, beautiful castles and forts… This is Scotland, and of course the men wearing tartan, pipe music and whiskey. The character of the country on the Northern part of the British island can not be missed. Because of their monument status, the castle of Edinburgh and 16 thousand other buildings are under protection. During the summer, several festivals and cultural events here and in Glasgow await the visitors. The old castles, forts and monasteries tell us about a long and eventful past and such heroes as Wallace ‘The Braveheart’ or Rob Roy. Their deeds were sung by such Scottish poets and writers as Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson or Robert Burns. Scotland is famous of its Celtic monuments, the beautiful landscape of the Highlands and the monster of Loch Ness.

They are called highland coos, not wooly cows with funny hairdoos. Good lord. I'm not Scottish, but even I know what they are called. I love Scotland, can't wait to go back.

Very helpful video for an American trying to decide where to spend time in Scotland. The comments about the narrator's mispronunciations are helpful, too. I'll make sure to study up before my trip!

I think it's interesting effect views and just quick simple narrative. I read allot about how Scotland was. How people in decade live. I get fashinated the story, of the lordship, castle, horse and buggy. And there multiple Mistresses, and mountain, or Misty morning in the castle.. I think it would be nice to go there and see for ourselves.

With all due respect to the lady who is doing the narration, couldn`t they find a scottish person to narrate?
It would have sounded much better and believable.

Typical American pronunciation of Scottish place names, i.e. there is no "O" in EDINBURGH. If someone is going to narrate a documentary it is only good manners, not to mention good film making, to find out the correct local pronunciation of place names etc. and not use what you the narrator think fit to use. For example Glamis Castle is pronounced Glarms Castle, such mispronunciations only cause offence.

Don't blame Americans for this lady's crappy narration. It is the producers who are to blame. There are plenty of Americans who do take the time to learn correct pronunciations. The late Robert Stack, who hosted Unsolved Mysteries, is a great example of one. He was culturally sensitive and always pronounced the names of foreign people, places, etc., with accuracy on the show. A true class act.

Don't like the video don't watch it. There's a dislike button. She even uses meters instead of feet so there! I've seen others where they just mumble and you have to have good speakers and it was hard to find one that didn't do that.

Amen NoBullBassPlayers! Unreal! What, Expoza can't employ people who know how to pronounce the names of the places in Scotland in a travel video? That is the whole point of their videos isn't? it This lady pronounces Loch Lomond & other places as if they were French, or some other unknown pronunciation, which is fine if this were about France. It sounds ridiculous! Get with the program Expoza! This video is excellent visually but needs some work in the narrative department. I could do a much better job if you like. Nice visuals though! Thank you!

The same production team did a similarly woeful video about Ireland, again their pronunciation of place names was pathetic. Then virtually every travel vid coming out of the USA sucks for that same reason. Most of the ones I’ve seen were actually there, so HOW IN GODS NAME Do you get it sooooooooo wrong ?

    • @Slainte-Mhath

No, but they should pronounce the place names etc. correctly so when we copy that pronunciation we have half a chance of being understood.
The language of Scotland is English, so your comment is actually irrelevant. She doesn't have to speaks Scots either, just learn how to pronounce the places correctly.
