    Any reason why you went with the 6+ over the 6 Pro since the price difference is small? The R7000 router you replaced is a 3X3 device while the U6+ has less spacial streams at 2X2.

    You should have bought a pass through patch panel and more 6 inch patch cords, then everything goes to the patch panel, including the NAS to the back of the patch panel then it doesn’t look like a mess in front, with wires running in front of other devices, also the fiber cable can be shorter tbh 😊

    Hi great video, what software did you use In the beginning of the video to make those cool diagram visuals? And also the name of the auto-screw driver you used ?

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 місяці тому +1

      Diagram app is Apple's Freeform, only for apple devices for now. I tried using others that also work on Windows, but they're just not as good. Hoping Apple launches this app or PC or at least a web browser version.
      The electric screwdriver I have is old but it's Tacklife sdh13dc. I need to get a new one. I would just recommend one that has a torque setting on it so you can adjust when the screwdriver will stop. I would do something like this: amzn.to/4cYV3AK except I hate the charge port on it. If you find something better, with like USB-C or at least micro USB charger, let me know!

    Ooh tell me more about the USB switcher. We have a USB licence key that is forever getting swapped from workstation to workstation. We only ever need one user at a time so we're within licence terms but its unnecessary wear and tear on the USB key and ports. Never knew you could get USB to ethernet adapters, I guess there's the same setup on the workstation ends so each workstation has 2xethernet, 1x for connection to LAN and the other for USB extender? The key can only push to one workstation at a time and not 1 to many I guess.

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  Місяць тому

      Correct. Workstation needs to have two Ethernet ports. This place mostly had it because people work hybrid. So when they need the key, they press a button in the SwitchBot app to switch the key to their workstation. The usb switch has an IR remote. Then you add a SwitchBot hub that has an IR emitter next to it. You add that usb selector remote to SwitchBot and there you go. Let me know if you actually need this and I’ll get you links to the exact products.

    Question, i am curious why didn’t you choose a UniFi mission critical? I think about getting one.

      @@GunniBusch1 I haven't set one up before but it looks solid. Already has built-in battery and can add an external battery to it. The CyperPower of course is a lot more affordable and it's enough for this application.

    This was a great video, I am about to do a similar setup but for a much smaller office for my wife, trying to keep cost low but still go with Ubiquiti as i like their products. In summary its just 2-3 cameras Turret g5 ultras, 1 AP, the AP can be very simple as its just for customers to randomly use on their cellphones 2-5 customers at most at a time, so I was thinking going swiss army with wifi5 as 6+ is not needed? I was first looking at a dream machine se, but wondering if thats overkill for this setup and if i could go with a Cloudkey+ with Switch lite 8 poe switch? So Cloudkey+,(2) g5 turret ultras, swiss army knife ap, switch lite 8 poe? Or would you say I should remove the cloudkey+ and switch lite 8poe and just get a Dream machine SE? Thanks in advance

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, you could do that but actually Ubiquiti just came out with the UCG Max which would be great for your needs. I'm planning a video for this use case but here's the summary: 1. Get the UCG Max $279 with 500 GB storage. store.ui.com/us/en/pro/category/cloud-gateways-compact/collections/cloud-gateway-max/products/ucg-max?variant=ucg-max?a_aid=Apex It's a cloud gateway/router, it supports all UniFi apps and has built-in storage for Protect cameras, and up to 2.5G. It does not have PoE so, 2. Get a PoE switch. For this, any switch will do that will that has enough PoE budget to support your devices. So for example, the USW-Lite-8-POE ($109) has enough juice for 52W of PoE devices. This puts you at $390, rather than $500 for UDM-SE and not including the harddrive you'll need to get to support Protect cameras.

      @@ApexOneTech appreciate the reply, would 500gb be enough for 24 hour recording with 2 cameras? I was leaning towards going with the cloudkey+ with 1tb so I could have 6-8 days or 24hr recording with my (2) turrets. and going with a swiss army knife for basic wifi for 3-4 customers.

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 місяці тому +1

      @@Vin68142 That can work. Unifi doesn't have a capacity calculator for the UCG-Max yet but they have one for the CloudKey+ and you can get a general sense of it. But yeah, with 1TB you'll only get about 9 days of 24/7 recordings with two 2k cameras (like the G5 turret). So of course with a 500 GB it would be much less. It is much better than the UDR (Dream Router) for this. I haven't tested this myself, but others have noted that you can install your own NVMe SSD storage to get more days for recording. Your best bet might be to wait till August 23 for the non-storage option of the UCG-Max to release at $199. And yeah, the swiss army knife is fine.

    I mentioned the rack fans in this video but didn't really show it. I replaced the original fans that come with this NavePoint 9U wall cabinet with much quieter, and temperature controlled fans from AC Infinity. You'll need the AC Infinity controller: amzn.to/4cSCJcE and the 120mm fan: amzn.to/3YeI2ys
