I appreciate your comments regarding the “bubble” and seeing those apartments. I stayed at Kidani when those apartments were being built and my friend and I commented how that would affect the experience
Thanks! Yeah, we try to keep things like that in mind 'cause these places are expensive and boast a certain type of experience that they don't always deliver. . . which we think you guys deserve to know about ahead of your stays so that you can plan and/or set expectations. 😄
I'm an owner at AKV and a true fan of its magic. But...yeah, I'm not a fan of those chocolate milk color rooms. They look like moderates and there's nothing that says deluxe about these rooms. I can't wait for the refresh. I actually prefer staying at Jambo House if I'm in a studio, even though the studios are equally unlovely.
We had two stays at Kidani this year (2-bedroom both times) and while the rooms are definitely showing their age, we could not understand the people saying the rooms are in desperate need. Oh and we were on the 2nd floor both times, which I HIGHLY recommend 😀
Nice! Second floor definitely does seem like it's the best choice, but it wasn't available during our check-in this time, which is too bad. I still can't complain though, 'cause we did still enjoy our view. You know, I think it really just depends on the room. One thing that I've noticed, especially in a the stays that we've done this year, is that there are rooms that are "snowing their age" and then there are rooms that should have been renovated YEARS ago. . . all in the same hotel. DAK Lodge is a great example of that for us, 'cause while this room was a little rough around the edges, the last room we were in was [literally] falling apart. Peeling wallpaper, toilet didn't work properly, ac didn't work properly. I think I described it as in desperate need of an update and I stand by that, but I can see where I get pushback as well 'cause if your experience was in a room like this? It doesn't seem all that desperate at all.

The Pembe savanna has the least number of animals and think is the worse section of the Kidani Village. We were there last October in the Zazu side. It was a quiet! Lots of animals and the rangers vehicles are even quiet. The sunrise and sunset was in perfect view.
I definitely think that Pembe can be a major letdown if you're looking for that classic "saw it in the adds" view from your room. Personally, we LOVED our view 'cause we had vultures and okapi which are some of our favorites. We also lucked out with a feeding spot right outside our window, so we had a lot of animals around the entire time, which was great. I do hear all great things about Sunrise though! Like I mentioned, that's where we originally wanted to be, but I honestly have no regrets. 😄
We stayed in the same area of the hotel as you but on the 1st floor. We were not told we were on the “back” Savannah and were very disappointed in the lack of animals. We are from Australia and we paid a lot (with the exchange rate) and felt a little let down as you pack the same amount from r these rooms as for a Sunset Savannah room, but you you don’t get the big ticket animals. Also the room was disappointing, it definitely didn’t feel deluxe and felt dirty and rundown (we had been staying at Beach Club for the previous week). I’m a huge fan of WDW and find it hard to find negatives about it, but Kidani was a real let down. Anyhoo, that’s my experience and hasn’t affected my desire to go back and I’m actually looking at staying at an all stars as I love them too
I'm sorry to hear that you had that experience. You're so right! If you're expecting to see "classic" [for lack of a better word] animals, a view of the Pembe Savanah is definitely going to feel like a letdown. Also, I hear you loud and clear with the experience you had with the room itself. While we lucked out with a nice room for this stay, our stay 2 months ago was TERRIBLE! and I've heard a lot of people share a similar experience, so you're definitely not alone there. . . which is not acceptable IMO; certainly not for the price. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 😄 It's always helpful to hear from everyone and appreciate you taking the time! Have a great rest of your day.
Glad to hear it. We are staying at Kidani in two weeks!! So excited! 🦒
Have a GREAT trip!

Thanks for the video! Really helpful. Can you use the QS dining plan at Sanaa for breakfast or is it just out of pocket?

I can hear the highway too
Yeah, there really is no getting around the sound of the highway.

Go to Jiko
It's on our list! We didn't get around to Jiko during this trip though.
