    Interesting comments and discussion. I'm about to get SMP on Monday. I'm totally bald (more or less) on top but don't really want to get SMP to look like I have a full head of hair. I don't mind it being a bit light, so long it adds some definition to my scalp. I'd rather have it look a bit subtle than go to the opposite extreme where it looks fake.

      Exciting man! Best of luck!
      This is not understood by enough people in my opinion. I believe more guys would opt this way if they fully grasped how unnatural most results appear, especially as the years go on.
      You will not regret this as long as your artist can produce :)

      @@scalp_logic Thanks! I basically looked for the top reviewed place in Sydney (where I'm from) and they seemed like the real deal, looking at their previous work. Not to mention the artist having 7 years experience. Great to hear that this is the right approach. It's like the story of Icarus where flying too close to the sun is dangerous. If you get greedy, the risks increase exponentially.

      I generally don't mind but sometimes worry that people notice. This is overblown as it is very subtle and most people still think I'm bald (which was always the idea).
      So, I've got mixed feelings. Yes, I look better most of the time. But in some lighting it looks slightly off (not to others but to me) and I don't like having to shave it every day or risk looking weird.

    I think another aspect of why bright lighting affects the look is because usually there are people that get their smp to match the buzzed cut hair. I feel like if you get smp to match an against the grain razor shaved look then the whole head will be flat and shine and will match better in the sun.

    • @scalp_logic
      @scalp_logic  2 роки тому +3

      It is certainly a preference thing. Not everyone will agree.
      In my opinion, the choice is very simple. One method looks real, and the heavier method looks fake.
      My aim is to always go as dark and bold as possible while leaving tiny ink impressions same size as real hair stubble...keeping it real.

Maybe it will make a difference, but the thing that I hate the most is my grey hair is very visible with the stubble. I am 40 and my main goal was to get smp to save time and hide grays. I’m 20 years old and I’ve had SMP for a few months! I was 19 when I had my sessions done the guy I went to was the best Reviewed in NY, he only had me come for 3 sessions tho and said within 3-5 years I’ll need a touch up. I still had mainly all my hair when I had this done but my hairline was receding and my crown was thinning and seeming how I was only 19 doctors wouldn’t approve me for a hair transplant so I quickly chose this option! I def don’t regret but if you have most your hair it looks a lot different then if you were already fully bald and got it done. Right now I use a pair of Andies Tline timers almost everyday and it looks short enough in most lighting and stuff but sometimes when I’m in the sun I’ll catch a reflection where it looks like my stubbles are more noticeable then the ink and I wonder if I should just shave clean with a razor to get even lower? Also everyone says it’s a huge upgrade at like work and my ex Gf liked it my family likes it but sometimes I do get a bad reflection and don’t feel as confident even tho to the human eye it prolly looks fine so I’m prolly overthinking

    • @scalp_logic
      @scalp_logic  2 роки тому +1

      Feels amazing to have this done compared to the lack of confidence, fun, excitement, etc. that comes with be bald! I can feel your enthusiasm :)
      You’re not overthinking. In my view you’re dialed in and if you can notice any discrepancy, then most definitely someone (or many people) will also notice the discrepancy.
      Whether this occurs often or not seems to be a driving determination to consider when choosing an artist or even getting something like this done.
      I repeat my view often, but if ANYONE can tell at any moment I’ve had a treatment done, that would defeat the whole purpose. It can look so real nobody would ever know.
      Thank you for sharing your experience with us! 🙏🏼

    The bottom line is that SMP is TWO-dimensional. Light does not cause thousands of miniscule follicle shadows on your scalp like it does with real stubble/buzz. Like that rear white wall, that represents the 3-dimensional surface through its shade caused by lighting. A plain smooth wall would not show that under the same light. Being two sessions in, I must remember this - that you cannot force shading, it will always be a smooth scalp.

    this look in reality very fake, dont ever do it, its look super bad in reality, you just can see around people who have done it and its really horrible all the time, you will see nice pics and videos here but that dont represent reality, i see the security guard of my supermarket all the time with it done and looks so pathetic, you can see the unconfidence in his face all the time because he knows it looks horrible, everyone laughs at him in his back, dont do it, i just shave it all every month

      I agree that a lot of these smp results you see on the internet do not look the same in reality. It’s sad and unacceptable how many bald guys are walking around with an obvious hair tattoo.
      I disagree in that when this art form is done at a high level (looks as real as real hair) nobody could or would ever notice. There is a level of realism out there most aren’t aware of. #SubtleP
