I absolutely love that Macklemore doesn’t glamorize drinking and drugging like so many other rappers!

So grateful he went public with his story. It's super important that people normalize talking about this stuff.

Tell him that if he doesn't see himself doing drugs in 5 years not to do them today.

    • @nathanjones5188

It's what I tell myself to keep from doing them.. I just started recovery. I am sick of relapsing. One day after another.

If one struggles with drug addiction must they also quit alcohol? If one struggles with alcohol must they also quit drugs? I’m trying to understand how recovery works.

generally speaking, yes. But everyone is differnt.

    • @olsonandfriends

Everyone is different but speaking from personal experience, I started off struggling with meth and heroin, never had an alcohol problem.
When I kicked meth and heroin, I started drinking (cause it was never a problem previously)
It quickly turned into a problem though
      And I rapidly spiraled

For a lot of people, alcohol is a gateway to other substances. Alcohol can lead to all kinds of other things. But recovery is different for everyone

People in na are selfish and have there issues never helped me. I was an addict at there meeting and I felt very unwelcome clean now with spirituality not na

This isn’t how every meeting or group is. It may have been that particular group/meeting. But I’ve been to multiple where they’ve made me feel like family. I encourage everyone to try it! Some people need more than spirituality. They need support from other addicts and the 12 steps.

I feel like when a person has truly truly hit the point of wanting to recover for themselves, they have risen above the things we call "triggers". Just my opinion tho. We all have different experiences so what's true for 1 may not b true for another

Doesn't really matter if you guys agree because it fits the definition. Pretty arrogant to argue with the dictionary but okay
