You need an attachment for your scrubber that siphons but also removes some of the debris you remove from the wall! I could easily 3d print you something if you were interested?!

This would look amazing with either a black background instead of white, or the custom molded backgrounds you have on your 120s! I feel like that would give it a more natural, less artificial look!

“it takes me about 30 minutes to drain and scrub the tank” IT TAKES ME LIKE 2 HOURS TO CLEAN MY 20 GALLON. HOW. well actually yknow, it probably takes like 2 hours cause i’m a perfectionist lmao...😂

I’m glad we’re taking out the wood. I know Buddy had a freak accident but I wouldn’t want the new arowana to meet the same fate. Plus now there’s more room for activities!

I think potted plants will work quite nicely here. Keeps the substrate contained.
Also I'm thinking lotus plants and water lily.

Not to sound like a crazy Frank fan, but you’ve inspired my boyfriend and I to get a red dragon flowerhorn. His tiger oscar passed in a heater blow up and it devastated him. I thought he was going to shut his tank down for good he was so bummed about loosing “Moo.” He saw a video over my shoulder that contained a lot of Frank and his famous barrel rolls and it really helped. Now we have Drago AKA “Megamind” who is just as personable as your adorable mascot. Thanks Joey, without your videos, I’m not sure what would have revived his love for this hobby. 🙂

why not try with a forest of vallisneria gigantea in the back of the acquarium to cover up everithing? It grows insanely high (like 2 meters long) and it's very low demanding on light and Co2. I use it in my pond and works even better than an acquarium. Also the roots grow well without too much gravel to cover them and do better with sand.
Also is very useful to create territoryes and cover to fish, but doesn't occupy a lot of volume.
The disvantage is that i don't know if the rays would move it, but i use it with fish that move sand a lot. The main trick is to cover up the first plants with rocks/pebble. After that all plants will grow attacked one to the other make very difficult do make them float

I see a rock like background in the back and right side of the tank with a lot of roots of wild orchids coming from the water to the border of the tank. Something realistic like a jungle. I think it would be nice.

You should make it a jungle/planted tank. Put a lot of soil. Enough so the rays cannot reach the bottom glass of the tank and wont remove it. Fill it with big plants and some pieces of driftwood or big pieces of dragon stone. It should be awesome

You should plant the tank with some big echinodorus plant. A few bunched in various places would look stunning. They're easy to grow and would bring some natural look to the tank.

Joey - plants further from the light source will produce fewer leaves that have a larger surface area (and sometimes longer leaf stalks). This maximises their surface area for photosynthesis & gas exchange for the least amount of energy output allocated to growth. Simon (Australia)

Can’t wait to see what the rescape is going to look like. I think I already have an idea, and I’m excited :p
I also have to mention that I definitely started putting plants in my betta aquariums because of you! Once I saw how easy to care for and non demanding they are, I knew I had to. I have a mystery plant, (maybe African sword plant or something?) that’s been growing in one of my tanks for about half a year that has doubled in size-and that’s with a very low watt crappy incandescent bulb and no co2 with an under gravel filter! Seriously, if anyone is thinking of adding aquarium plants, do it! They’re so easy and look so much nicer than plastic plants. Plus, they’re good for your tank ecosystem, and if you’ve got a betta like me, soft on their fins.

Hey Joey! Any chance you can do a full over view on the concrete tank? I want to build a concrete tank in the basement. Probably not as big but damn close in size (that’s what she said) but I want to start making plans and get it done by 2019. I watched all the videos you posted while building it but you did it so fast there’s some gaps of information I want to tie down. First step for me is sledge hammer out the old bar in the basement and install the heated floor. Did you use the Schluter hot water heated floor system or something else? Last thing what company do you buy your acrylic sheets from? Keep on being bad ass and thanks for all the inspiration.

For smaller pieces of wood you can always boil them so that they release the tannins faster and become water logged faster. If you don't soak wood it will likely float

That's funny, Joey can't even get through a video without playing with his wood. :) I like how that water return looked like a waterfall. It was cool. I know you wouldn't always want the noise, but that'd be a cool feature. I trust you, though, man. I can't tell you the number of times you said your were gonna do something and I thought, "meh", only to have it turn out awesome. I never liked silver fish, but the angels look amazing with the dark background. I didn't like the drab look of the uaru either, but their starting to grow on me after I've seen them in the tank you set up. Keep up the good work man. Also, besides some time of waterfall feature, it'd be really cool to have a living wall coming up out of the tank and maybe have a few pieces of that wood coming out from the wall, like you did in the uaru tank.

You should check on dive boots for when you have to get in. You can get them with a scrubbing material type bottom on them, they zip up, and they have some thickness to them that may assist in the barbs not hurting if you step in them or get hit.

Do you think the splinter of wood you found in the substrait, could have possibly been part of the top of the wood structure and palyed a part in your arowanas death ,as in perforating the side of the fish when he jumped becoming dislodged when he landed..and floating to the substrait where it was found,i know you checked the fish over, but since its all made of muscle it could have been unnoticed due to the muscle tissue tighting up,meanwhile internal damage had taken effect
