I've been using the Alpinestars SM10 for over a year now and I LOVE it. It's incredibly lightweight. Airflow is literally on the frigid side. It also has routing in the cheek foam for water hose.
you forget to mention the bell used mangnets to hold the cheek pads in which is amazing for removing and replacing after cleaning
Great work Chase cheers man 👍
Do you have a recommendations video for Enduro helmets? We aren’t riding fast on the track with lots of wind to make the vents work. We need helmets that let the heat out when slogging it in the woods. Would be cool if you could get manufacturers to make some enduro models with specific features.
I like whooped out single track the best, like 3rd gear stuff. I just picked up the Klim F3 carbon pro, (The earlier F3 carbon helmet is almost the same, and the lightest helmet on the market by a good 1/2-3/4 lb margin.), and the venting should be great. But the newer Klim F5 (also carbon fiber shell, but Dot approved, so Heavier and more expensive.), is the first helmet to have a bit of a bicycle helmet venting to it. It has the other ports, but 2 longer vents on top like a vented bicycle helmet between the ribs. If you are just chugging around on a hot day, I bet that helmet would be hard to beat for ventilation, and it is their highest technical helmet they make. It has vertical "crush tubes" instead of a lot of the Styrofoam around the top of the head. Those vertical tubes, (blocks of them all glued together vertically), allow direct venting from the top of you head and out of the helmet. You can see through the helmet through them.
We need to see some videos on helmet/goggle/goggle port compatibility. It’s difficult to spend money on a premium helmet to find out your premium goggles don’t get a nice seal on your face due to the goggle port opening.
Leatt is smart supplying the correct goggle for the helmet
The absolute most important factor in choosing a helmet is fit. This is what I hate about the world of internet commerce. It's awesome they can do one exchange, but when I go to a shop, I probably try on 5-6 helmets and decide which fits best.
Valid point, I found Fox helmet shape puts too much pressure on my forehead. Love the look but can’t live with the fit
I try on at several stores and if they don't have a design that I like, I order it online but only after I've tried it on multiple times
I have a cheap helmet that is just slightly too big, one of those HJC $100.00 jobs, (replacing with Klim carbon pro now), so it works better than MIPS with more travel and my hair acts like a rotational damper. :)
Seriously though, my local shop (only good one for miles, and is miles away) does not have 5 different helmets to try on. I think they had 2. Just getting back into riding again, I picked the HJC. It is really a good helmet for $100.00. But that Klim company makes some very good stuff with intelligent innovation, and not being DOT approved allowed it to be less expensive and lighter.
Please include the weight as per your weighing the helmets not the manufacturer's suggested weigh. Of course always weight the same size for every helmet. This would help so much is very valuable.
Bells are bad if the rider wears eyeglasses. Tough, near impossible to get eyeglasses on and into the helmet.
Unfortunely HJC does not have a higher spec helmet as they fit great for eyeglass wearers but HJC fit and work for me so well.
HJC sells more helmets worldwide than any other rmanufacturer and has for over a decade.
I have the new Leatt 9.5 and it’s superb! I’ve been a TLD guy forever, but am very happy with the jump
That was the one that I like. I have that an my Christmas list. It is very hard to find a helmet for me because I wear glasses
@Adam it’s excellent!
Hey mate - can I ask your experience with the TLD and why you switched to Leatt? It's not a commonly stocked brand here the Leatt, so was thinking trying TLD
@@jimbojonesporfavor Honestly, I had been having some neck pain after longer rides so I wanted something light. I looked at Fly, 6D, Klim etc before settling on this. I already have Leatt knee braces which are exceptionally well made, so I was confident the helmet would be quality. No regrets
I've been using a fox V1. But thinking about upgrading to the Alpinestars m10 black orange red like in this video any down sides to it ?
I don't have a ton of time in my M10 but overall, it's very comfortable and light feeling. I would read customer reviews to see what others are saying. I've seen some talk about some QA concerns so I'd look into that. But yes, it's a good helmet. - Chase
If you haven’t got one already, consider the shoei- I have one and I don’t think I’ll ever go for another style
Hi, could You tell which of these helmets can accomodate intercome (eg. Cardo Pactalk) ?
Most helmets will accommodate blue tooth coms speakers pretty well, but the new Fox V3 RS and the Alpinestars M10 and M8 have cutouts for bluetooth speakers.
@@rmatvmc Thanks for reply. This is what I want to know - which has cutouts for speakers. Once again, thanks.
Fly helmet looks so cool great safety thanks for brilliant videos 👍🇬🇧
I ride 6D. The reason i bought that is cuz it fit my head shape the best out of all these. Super comfortable and light enough for me
Love my 6D! Ride safe!
Arai for me.
We have the Bell 10. It's terrible. Visors are super flimsy and break. We've had 2 break from roost alone during rides. On top of that they want 50 bucks to replace them when you can find one in stock. The fact they are constantly out of stock tells you how often they need replaced.
same and its pretty heavy too my neck is jacked thanks to it :) but cant beat it for safety i fell from 10 feet and survive :)
is the airoh aviator 3 not good or is it outdated?
We don't sell Airoh helmets so I can't really speak on that. Sorry. - Chase
It’s unfortunate Suomy or their KVYline aren’t in any of these comparisons. Because it’s the most comfortable I’ve tried.
Arai is the best. Shame you guys didnt put it up in there
wait arai makes a snell dirtbike helmet? thats as good as their street helmets? maybe these guys don't think a family owned, HANDMADE helmet is premium enough to list here.
Its al about what they sell...
Can you guys start weighing each helmet and size so we can stop guessing?
What about the Airoh aviator 3? Almost all red bull ktm ride with that helmet.
Do you want to review it?
Airoh arent really sold in the US and thats the majority of his audience so im not surprised he didnt, have to order from overseas as far as i know
@@207films but Vialle, Anderson, Musquin are riding with it
They don’t sell them
@@abelhaagen8395 2 of them came from europe already riding with Airoh, as for anderson idk how that started but hes a pro they make it work. anyone in the US can order them from places like motocard in euro but they just dont sell em here
I own an Airoh Aviator 3 and it is the most uncomfortable helmet i have ever used. Bought an M and was ridiculously tight to where I would get headaches even 4 rides in. Went up to size L and the helmet slips all over the place. The fit of the helmet is weird at least on my head and the inner liners keep slipping. Also I have 100%, Fly, and Fox goggles and none of them really fit the helmet. Biggest problem is liner slipping and helmet coming down on goggles.
Anybody use a Klim F5 Koroyd helmet ?? I curious how it compares to the ones in the video .
I have non-Koroyd one. ECE-only. I also have Fly Formula, Leatt v20 (old design), Fly F2 Carbon. I've tried Bell Moto-9 on. F5 is lighter than everything else on the US market. Only european brands like Airoh have lighter lids. F5 is also the best venting at slow or no speed. Koroyd is a good bit heavier, being DOT. That's why I've passed on it.
@@gophop airoh new model is same weight as fly leatt etc now at 1290g for med. Ece only will always be little lighter as dot runs thicker shell for pentration testing and few other changes in testing.
@@cowpker4life333 I can see that. DOT means at least .5lbs heavier, and at least $100.00 more expensive. That was a big reason why I just got the KLIM F3 Carbon pro. The only helmet lighter that I have seen is the earlier Klim F3 carbon (no "pro", no Koroyd), by about 1.5 ounces. I love the Fid chin buckle. I think MIPS is over rated. I bet an old fashioned round shell works better if tested over a wide range of hit angles on the ground.
I got the Klim F3 carbon pro for 500 Bob. But I think the Klim F3 Carbon (slightly older design) for $400.00 is probably the best buy on the market for price and performance, and the lightest on the market at 1100gr (2.45lbs)for a Medium. My XXL is probably around 1175gr. (2.65lbs).
I am doing 30mph trail riding. Screw DOT :) Now there is an affordable option nobody else has. :)
Hey Chase, What is the safest motocross helmet regardless of price? Thanks
That is a really tough question because it's subjective to rider opinion. But, I will say that the helmet I feel safest in when I ride is the 6D, simply because the technology in their helmet makes sense of why it would protect me so well. Behind that, I would say the Bell Moto-10 and the Fly Formula are the next two that have very innovative technology that stand out from other helmets. Again, this is my opinion and I could be totally wrong and maybe my Shoei or my Fox V3 RS both would outperform those in a test. I always tell riders to buy the helmet that they feel is the safest. - Chase
@@rmatvmc Thank you very much
What are the 3 safeties helmets in yours opinion
Have you seen our "Best motocross helmets | 2024" - ua-cam.com/video/VXqs2b9o2xk/v-deo.html
That's a really tough question because there is no data that I would have to back up what I think. It's all subjective to what you "feel" is the safest. Obviously, it's hard to argue that the 6D doesn't have some amazing technology in it. My other two I would choose are the Fly Formula, and I also really like the Alpinestars M10. But the fact is, we're all spoiled with so many awesome helmets to choose from. Not a bad choice if you ask me. - Chase
Are you picking the the Bell moto 10 or the Supertech M10?
I'm picking the M10 between those two. It's lighter, more comfortable, and even though the visor comes off a little too easy IMO, I don't love that the M10 doesn't have a center screw on the visor, it just never feels like I can't get the visor to stay put. - Chase
@@rmatvmc thanks so much for quick the response and insight. Just confirming… you’re picking the Alpinestars SM10 over the Bell Moto 10 right? You said M10 but also said it doesn’t have a center screw so it made me think of the Bell helmet since I thought the Alpinestars helmet has a center mounting point for the visor
Yes, I meant the M10! I meant I don't like that the Bell doesn't have a center screw.
@@rmatvmc awesome. Thanks again man! I’ll be ordering that helmet from you guys then🙌🏼
Unfortunately there is not a Arai helmet in this test.
7:29 Dylan Ferrandis wears Bell Helmets
Remember top pros on TV get paid to where a manufacturer's helmet as it is advertising for them,.
No arai,?
Airoh??
No Aria either, wondering if there are brands that they don't sell?
They sell arai, arai is amazing quality they just aren’t putting the safety updates in like the other companies
@@owens5283 most of the updates are still gimmicks with no scientific data to show they are effective in real life crashes
Would be nice if you weighed each helmet and posted true weight numbers. I mean $600….
Good suggestion and we should have mentioned weights in this video. We have product spotlight videos on most of these helmets where we go more in to detail, including the weights.
Such a shame not to see Arai in the line up
Arai need to update a few helmets in their line.
Arai helmets are incredibly outdated and not really a factor in this space currently.
Its a 20 year old shell with plastic vents added. Dont think it has anything for rotional in it even. Imo shoei almost just as bad. Meh rotional system and a old shell that had eps setup updated for meds. Shell matiral is great and best or one best choices but the shape is poor. Lots sharp edges add rotional engery along with not allowing impacts to spread out as much vs a more rounded shell.
@@matthew3136 its not all about the looks. I want to have a good helmet on my head so i have a arai. People say is you dont have a arai you might as well put a box on your head lol
No Airoh? 👀
Thats what im thinking too
do you review any helmets that are in my price range 😁
I've done reviews on basically every helmet we sell. - Chase
I started riding again after 20 years off and first picked up a HJC CS-MX2 helmet. It has dual density foam, a pretty decent ventilation system, pretty low weight at about 3.2lbs (If I remember right), removable liner for cleaning, and a pretty good visor with plenty of adjust-ability with a big goggle hole. The only thing I don't like about it is the D rings for the neck strap. After it a ride it tightens up and is a bear to get undone. But for $100.00, it is a great helmet, (as good as anything in the 80's and maybe 90's). Mine fits to size. I got a XXXL by a bit of a bad judgement on my part, and it is a bit loose. I am replacing it with a Klim F3 Carbon Pro and it just came in today. That is a XXL, and it fits like it, nice and snug, (I measured my head to order that one), so the HJC sizing is on par too IMO.
For $100.00, I give that HJC two proud standing thumbs up.
OK, one thumb is tilted a bit because of the difficult D-rings.
arai and shoei the best
From a technology standpoint, please explain. - chase
Airoh Aviator?
Aviator 2.3 is the shit.
@@spyharezzz i have the 2.3 and i love it i was thinking bout upgrading to aviator 3
No see anderson get a concision from a tip over last year in supercross?
@Panda Lira48 the aviator 3.0 is about 400grams heavier than the 2.3 in size L
The aviator 3.0 looks nice but the extra weight is not wanted.
@@spyharezzz 3 better
Which brands look the smallest on your head?
Umm, never had someone ask that question before. What size helmet do you wear and are there a couple helmets you're looking at? - Chase
@@rmatvmc ..im a large..im leaning toward the shoei or Arai because I don't want anything made in china if there are non Chinese options
@@hometownguy7184 I don't know which helmet looks smaller of those two in a large, but I will say that the Shoei is easily one of my favorite fitting helmets and I've ridden in every premium helmet we offer. Not to mention the build quality is second to none. - Chase
@rmatvmc thanks Chase!..btw..appreciate all you guys do for the sport!
@@hometownguy7184 You're welcome and thank you!
One of the most important thing in a helmet is the weight. An exact number. More than 1250gr is unacceptable.
There are probably only 3 or 4 of those helmets that are below 1250. Not even the Troy Lee (it’s 1350). But more weight does not mean less safety - don’t hinge everything on the scale. I’m sure several helmet designers and engineers would dispute your statement. Bell DOES need to get theirs down a lot to at least get in the ballpark.
Almost nothing is currently 1250. Most the lighter helmets are 1290.
To who?
@@EarthSurferUSA Europeans
Uhhh…Arai ?
Bell, the most expensive helmet up there, is made in china. A big hell no for me.
Almost every helmet is made in china. Topkey belive name of the company makes 90% of the worlds eps liners.

Why would you do such a short video on the Bell Spherical moto 10 It is the best hands down, everyone has copied them!!!!!
They have a longer product spotlight video on the website.

Hi Rocky Mountains ! The Best Premium Motocross Helmets 2023 | You forgot to enter ONE of the BEST Helmet .
Okay Man SHOEI it's awesome but the ARAI MX-V remains one of the best off-road helmets ever /
?????????????????????????? WHY you haven't considered it ? ???????????????????????????
no excuse SORRY
no no no!
😘
If they ever decide to update the safety it will be a great helmet again, shoei and arai are both amazing quality helmets but both lacking in safety a little for the shoei and the arai is unnacceptable
Its a 20 year old helmey 0 rotional built in from what i understand. Not even simple mips(lot added to there helmets when first came out before desgining all new shells bc made a big difference). Arai is a dying company who lives off the name and nothing else. Helmets are all based on a 10-15+ year old shell.
People’s reverence for Arai is blind. I had an Arai in 2001 and it’s still the same helmet. You want it to be considered for this test because you own one (and therefore it’s the best) but under what other criteria? Looking at this unbiased, there is no way this helmet can even be in the top 10 with zero advancements in energy absorption. I used to love Shoei as well but there is no way I would chose one now for nearly the same reasons.
@@kevingorzny no I don't have it, you're wrong. ( I use Suomy MX carbon-kevlar Composite)
He hasn't improved over the years like the others because he was born already perfect
I was just wondering why it's not in the comparison. That's all. Ciao
@@lukestringer2177 well, your Suomy validates my argument regardless. Same form-factor and zero advancements from the last 5 years or even 10. The fit and finish on both of them are great - I’ll give you that. They are just behind and there is no way to argue that.
