- Welcome back to some more Helldivers 2. I've seen some clips of some stealth options in this game, surprisingly the system works well. For solo play at high levels this option actually is worth trying. Can't wait for some more updates with this game, I'm really looking forward to the future for this one. Doing stealth in this game is like being a starcraft ghost. You're minding your own business and all of a sudden you hear "nuclear launch detected".

Automatons do not use ears. They are structural weaknesses.
There are so many things about this game that fulfill my ancient desire for a multiplayer MGSV

MGSV had it's problems but it was not bad by any modern metrics. Probably one of the best Stealth Action games.@@ijustbevibin0425
I found out stealth was possible on accident. Was a ways away from the rest of my squad, when a bunch of termanids were moving close by. I went prone to make myself feel better about the inevitable doom that was coming my way.
To my surprise it was like that one MW mission where you crawl around an enemy base in a ghillie suit while they walk past you

I didn’t think Stealth was even possible
It's actually really powerful against automatons, you can solo clear half the map and the mission objectives without ever being spotted if you're attentive to the map.
On Solo, it's the strongest strategy you could use

On Helldive against Automatons solo, you HAVE to use stealth
Love to see it. After noticing the little clips you probably also saw online, I was quite charmed. That and knowing that the feel of general movement is quite MGSV-inspired, huge.

bro runs the same build as me for automatons, the ballistic shield w the defender smg, the Railgun, the stealth gameplay. Bro is my twin i've never met before
the amount of people not realizing stealth is integral to getting objectives done solo on helldive. Also if you throw a stratgem first, it alerts bots and calls down a botdrop unless u kill the bot that calls it first. also, audio queues are really important in this game. dude, i love this game. keep on pushing them back helldiver!
i think it should've a silenced sniper as the unlockable from this armor tree.
devs have hinted that suppressors and subsonic ammunition may be added later!
There was a suppressed weapon in the first game, it was called the SMG-34 "Ninja"

DUDE FINALLY people underestimate the stealth in this game.
In higher difficulties its mandatory so that you can breeze past through the map without much bot drops.

When Arrowhead gets around to adding the Ninja integrally suppressed SMG from the first game, this is absolutely the first thing I plan to do with it.
it was also even satisfying when you are a duo, the coordination is satisfying as well. It was also a pain when you have to deal with scrambler planet effect
This all reminds me so much of MGSV man. I loved MGSV and every mission where me and my friends run stealth feels like a multiplayer mission from that game. Very cool of them to add stealth as an almost hidden feature!
This game use mecahnics from that game (especially the dive)
this game is more destructive than battlefield 2042
i always feel like Helldivers 2 is basically BF, if a team with fresher ideas made it on a smaller budget

Stealth is great. I love using the disposable EAT stratagem as a temporary distraction for stealthily approaching terminals in awkward situations.
My go to for that was an orbital strike. Might use an EAT-17 instead, since it's a faster restock and comes with a second attempt.
This is how play solo with a marksman weapon and the anti sniper for the hulks
It still counts as stealth if nobody is left alive to notice your presence.
I would always play stealth in the first game. I love that they don't tell you this is optional cuz when I discovered it for myself I got so excited

i mean the movement of character is based on Metal gear Solid 5 phantom pain and am glad that stealth is option and viable (depending on armor) if it wasn't for enemy wonky spawn, i would try stealth more often
All we need now is the return of the "NINJA", which is pretty much just the Suppressed Variant of the SMG-37 "Defender".

I've been playing around with stealth.
I tried one in a 4 man just running to a different objective than the other 3.
Splitting up like that might actually be a faster way to do some missions.
I'm not sure if different primary weapons have different levels of aggro draw, but I can use the Diligence to snipe sentries and nearby enemies often don't notice a thing.
The Ghost Divers team use that tactic and was amazing
Any advice for playing stealthily alone on difficulty 7+? I play with friends but I like this "Metal gear" side that the game has a bit and I would like to play a mission alone without getting destroyed haha
I'd actually say that even when playing with friends, you can split off from the team to tackle side objectives solo. For better or for worse, many high-difficulty teams don't use co-op weapons as a team (they often solo operate it or don't use it to begin with), so you needing to be a 4-man squad sticking together isn't a requirement if you trust your team to operate without you.
In those cases, you definitely don't have the firepower to fight the enemy so stealth becomes your primary approach, with the added benefit that if your teammates are operating close by and making a lot of noise, you can get patrols and unwanted reinforcements off of your back.
As for actual playstyle tips, it's really more of a matter of you learning on your own how close and how far you can get to each individual enemy's backside and flank before they realize you're there. I'd say try lower difficulties (3, 4, 6, then 7) solo with the mindset of trying to figure the limits of stealth (as in how close can you get, how much noise can you make, how hard is it to escape and get back under the radar once you've been found).
Is better using stealth because the enemy reinforcement is not too much using stealth comparing to a rush down
I find the handgun to be better for getting those melee kills.
The animation makes it easier to get the head for a one hit kill
I've been showing others that this is possible. They start following my lead when they see me sneaking.
So that's what being good looks like 👍
Turning off the music is also really helpful for stealth as the music (while banging) is a bit too bombastic for sneaking around and gets a bit in the way of hearing patrols.

All we really need is the ability stealth kill enemies, or at least have bonus stealth or backstab damage against enemies using melee

The problem i have with bots is disengaging. It takes almost half the map and luck to avoid patrols to break combat with a jetpack to get ebough distance. The entire while, you're still at risk of being rocket snipes from 600 yards.

They need to add a mono-blade or some type of melee weapons system that encourages stealth.
i play more or less like you on robots except i think that shield is completely unecessary since you'll infiltrate and blow up objectives and bail out instantly. I find jetpack to be great for this since you can jump in and out of forts from otherwise impossible angles and just do the objective from the inside. Plus it helps you lose aggro by covering even more distance. But your playstyle is cool too

Lot of people think stealth isn’t possible in this game because they dont have silencers. When you can melee and if you have a competent team can take out a small group fast before they raise an alarm

My big question is: as a solo, do our actions matter to the overall progression of the greater war, or is our impact too miniscule to matter?
All that matters is you complete your operation. Theres no difference between a solo and squad victory (or difficulty which i hope they change. Higher difficulties should have more impact)

What's your opinion on using the SMG+Ballistic Shield over something else like the Breaker or Scorcher +Shield Gen Backpack? Is there a noise difference?

Unpopular opinion: the game is more fun on lower difficulty. At high difficulty you are forced to play stealthy, on low difficulty you can play the game as a horde shooter survivor. 😊
just wait until they add subsonic rounds and silencers

If Stealth is viable in this game then I am more interested in it. Stealth is my prefered option in these games over guns blazing mayhem, fun as it is watching *others* play it.

Can you really complete a whole mission with this level of stealth ? It's a really nice sample of gameplay, very satisfying to watch but the footage is from different missions. I have a hard time believing it doesn't end in a full on war with 6 tanks, 10 hulks and a hundred units.
And if that happens how do you handle it with this build ?
It is possible for the most part. I'd recommend using stealth as a way to collect samples rather than a way to clear the map.
