@@markmacleod4861 absolutely and he's still here, my other favourite are Sean Cannon and Finbar Fury, all in their twilight but we are lucky to still have them
I was lucky enough to bump into this gent in the restaurant of the Holiday Inn Hotel in Lyons in France circa 2003. I was having breakfast with my two young sons and my wife when I noticed these guys walking into the resto. Not sure what it was exactly, but they looked familiar. In my mind, I was thinking that they are either British or Irish, and then they sat down and I heard them talking. And detected a "slight" accent. Patsy and his mate was sitting at a table around 2 meters from us, so I leaned forward when I knew they were speaking English with an Irish accent and asked "Are you Irish ? " Patsy replied, yes, we are and then I recognised the Dublin accent so I asked innocently "are you from Dublin ?" to which he replied "Yes, we are the Dubliners". It was only then that I realised why they looked so familiar. I had a Dubliners CD in the car that I played constantly (we lived in Belgium at the time) so I was obviously blown away. Patsy was amazing, such a nice guy and such a Dub. As we were chatting, he stopped me and said "hold on a minute, I need to check my eggs". Apparently, he had already lost two of his eggs to those greedy Frenchies. You basically, boiled your own egg and Patsy was pissed off cos twice he had put on an egg and someone else had taken it. He was so funny. He introduced me to John Sheahan who was an absolute gent and we spent 10 or 15 minutes chatting. They were there for a large music festival which took place the previous night. Patsy at one point said to me, "Its a pity that we didn't meet the night before cos we had a great session after the festival." Imagine..... having a session with Dubliners, and yes I would have abandoned my wife and kids to go on the pi$$ with the Dubliners. I hope that Patsy is still doing well, singing like an angel and keeping an eye on his boiled eggs.
Was talking to him in Tullow just a few weeks ago ,still a real Dub and lovely man if you recognise him and stop for a chat he will have a chat with anyone ,lovely guy
Patsy used to live in Rathfarnham in Dublin ten years ago and he was the exact same then. He would chat away to anyone who would come over and chat to him.
Seen Patsy in homestore and more Carlow couple years ago what a lovely man. I'm from Meath so we had great chat about football and music. Sorry i don't get photo with him. He was delighted i recognised him. Love to see him again.
I bumped into Patsy in the Holiday Inn in Lyons, France probably about 20 years ago. He was a great character. Someone kept stealing his boiled eggs ! it was a buffet breakfast and you could put an egg on to boil and come back to collect it when it was done. But some thieving Frogs were stealing Patsy's eggs ! As we were chatting he said to me, hold on a minute I need to check on my eggs. Top man, a real Dub and a gent.
Sad to see him getting old, A legend and an amazing voice that tells such a story.
Sure, we all get old, if we're lucky or unlucky depending on your circumstances. Good ol Crumlin head.
He may be old, but his voice still has a good amount of force in it at least

the best singer for me I ever herd for Irish melancholic song. No other voice fits better than his one.

Absolutely, iconic voice indeed...
Patsy is retired and lives between Dublin and Loais. So my dad told me. They are cousins.
