I love that this song goes from "aw poor girl, everyone thinks she has this perfect life but she is so sad..." to "wait is she pregnant or is this just a very intense metaphor" to "OH SHIT SHE'S PREGNANT"
The production of this that I saw had a huge neon light cross above the stage and at 3:34 the stage went dark as she looked up at it and it flickered and it was INCREDIBLE! I still get chills just thinking about it!
You can't completely blame him, it's not like either of them were getting proper sex education in a Catholic school, and it's got to be especially confusing if you're gay.
@Gabriel why are you blaming this on ivy??? it's jason's fault too, mostly on him btw ivy liked him, of course she would want to have sex with him, but jason is gay and just goes there and impregnate her
Heard a movie's in the works! I hope they go with the original story rather than the changed one, knowing Hollywood though and what happened to Heathers it'll probably be a flop :(
Jennie H. Wait, do you mean the original movie or that remake they made? Because heathers was a movie way before it was a musical. I think a movie version could work well for this story
No I don't mean the original movie, that was good. I mean the series, which was eventually cancelled but it was bad all the same. And i hope it works out, this story means a lot to me so I would love it if the movie is just as good as the musical
I personally think that certain situations wouldn't work, such as Jason's death. Frank Oz, a director, had said that deaths work in stage Musicals because "At the end, the actors come on for a bow. they're alright. with a movie, however, they don't come on for a bow. they're gone, dead. the characters that the audience knew and loved are gone forever." That was a direct quote made after fans of a stage musical saw the violent death of Heroes they loved occur in the movie adaptation of the Musical. so either, they'd rewrite the scene so he faints and is alright in the end or they would make the death seem like an accident
Gabriel Tzukishiro preach. Bare isn’t about some sad teenage struggle turned into a fairytale ending! It’s about internal and external homophobia, the closeted queer experience, teen pregnancy, sexual awakenings, teen drug abuse, and suicide. It’s supposed to show all the pain that is caused by the demonization by society of the listed “taboos”. Having some sort of weak ass ending like that would just completely take away from all of the intense story arch build up and ruin the point of the story. If that happens I’ll lose my shit.

IM LISTENING TO THIS FOR THE FIFTH TIME AND I REALIZED SHE SAID SHE WAS 17. SHE HAD HER BIRTHDAY BEFORE SPRING BREAK SHE WAS A JUNIOR. LIKE MAYBE THAT WAS A MISTAKE ON THE WRITERS PART BUT LIKE.... SHE WOULD BE 18 IF SHE WAS A SENIOR. Edit: to the amount of people who keep commenting that they graduated at 17: I see you, but that’s not my point. My point is unless she skipped a grade or the writers forgot something, Ivy’s birthday happened before spring break. If she was a senior she should be 18 not 17.
Cinncinno I know but here’s the thing. This entire plot happens during the second semester and if she was in her senior year and her birthday was in the summer then I could see how she could still be 17, but she had her birthday before spring break so I don’t know how she could still be 17 and be a senior.

this is probably one of my favourite songs on the whole track
claire !! It’s just so emotional and real. It’s so powerful
yes, it's just so humanizing for a character we don't see from her perspective through the musical. We just see others slut-shaming and trashing her.
