I am FOREVER obsessed with Rica’s “uzu” at 2:41. I love her voice so much😭
They sing keeping their character, Aya sings very soft and sweet, Kotono very boyish and sharp, Rika very serious, mature but sweet, etc.
That's... that's the whole point... this is sung during the final fight scene in the first movie, 'Sailor Moon R(evenge)' 🤨
The point is: Voicing a character is one thing. But singing a character I'd consider much more difficult. Given Japanese seiyuu are (imho) better trained than Western VAs, however, the main focus of their training is voice acting - they are not necessarily brilliant singers (some are, some aren't). Being a good seiyuu/VA doesn't automatically make them good "character singers". That's why it's quite impressive that *all five* (!) of them really nail the singing voice of their senshi.
Fun Fact: Long before being hired to play Sailor Mars in the Viz dub, Cristina Vee did a fandub of this song singing the parts of Sailor Moon. It’s been removed but reuploaded by others.
If viz wanted to, could they release english language versions of the songs, using the cast?
@Knightmessenger Unlikely. Even though they have the license to dub the anime, Japan is notoriously difficult in regards to music licensing. It's pretty much the reason you don't see the mainline iDOLM@STER games in the West, and why anime very seldom dub music. Because usually legally, they can't.
@@Treemotan I remember the Ocean Group dubbed the songs Lacus Clyne sang in Gundam SEED. And of course, Sailor Moon dubbed a bunched of songs in the thirds and fourth seasons. ALL of these songs were only snippets used in the episodes though, rather than full length songs that were released.
@Nocturne22 Yep, and snippets are usually all they're allowed to dub. Like I said, not impossible but unlikely. Usually boils down to what company licenses the music.

Is there even an original sung version in english? Just wondering... and I don't mean covers. I mean like, original aired in TV. I know here in germany, there exists a german TV version, but I don't know for the english one.

There were two versions of the overly localized 90's English dub of this movie, one (that was only on DVD) which was uncut and kept all music, including this song, exactly the same as the Japanese version, and another (which aired on TV and was on VHS) which was more edited that had it's own music score and songs.
