“I’ll Be Home for Christmas” opens on a cascade of layered vocals that perfectly capture its mood of melancholy longing. “As I was singing that song, I closed my eyes and all of a sudden found myself standing in the doorway that looked onto the living room of my grandmother’s house,” Perry recalls. “Her Christmas tree was always loaded with presents underneath, and covered with the tinsel that my mother and I put on to make the tree shimmer. I could see that tree so clearly in my mind, and then I opened my eyes and thought, ‘Whoa-where did I just go?’ Now everybody has passed of course, but for just that moment I was home for Christmas.”

I just wanted to give Steve Perry a huge thank you so very much for getting me & my beautiful beloved aunt Debbie a peaceful beautiful Christmas. It was my aunt's last dying wish to live to see her grandchildren open their gifts since 4 of them lost their single mom just 2 & a half months before Christmas. She made it pass New Year's sadly she passed away peacefully in her home on January 8. That night after she passed my daughter was driving me to my brother's house to let him know. She turned on the radio & just as she did I heard Steve beautiful voice singing faithfully & the lyrics wondering where I am lost without you ( I was crying until I heard the words ) I balled my eyes out. But it was a good cry because my aunt knew that I love Steve Perry & faithfully is my favorite Journey song with Steve Perry singing it. I always told her no matter what mood I was in I would listen to anything that Steve Perry sings & feel so much better renewed . I feel as if my beautiful favorite aunt was trying to comfort me from heaven. So thank you, thank you , thank you so very very much Mr.Steve Perry you may not know it but you're definitely going to help heal my broken heart with your amazing music & even more amazing voice get through this sadness 🙏. Sorry so long. I wish you nothing but good health, love & many new blessings 💜😇🧡💪🎗

I appreciate how Steve Perry still embraces his tenor range. That is where he is most comfortable. Here he illustrates that singing softly takes more capability and skill than belting the notes. Yes we love his high notes in Journey anthem songs but he's hitting the same notes here just above a whisper.
Such a timeless voice. During the dark days he brings a refreshing voice known worldwide. I've been a huge fan of his since the late 70's. Saw him with Journey multiple times. Keep up the great work Steve. Good music is hard to find these days. I grew up in the best days of rock. Too bad those days are gone. #1 fan!!!

This man means so much to me. My late mother was a HUGE fan of Steve and even went to his Journey concerts when she was in high school in the 80s. She passed away in 2015 and in a way I feel like part of her is still here because Steve is still releasing songs. I think it is incredible and I just wanted to thank you for your amazing music. ❤️❤️❤️
