As always great tutorial...always wondered why fabricators hardly use profile gauges when determining profiles and then i see you make a gauge .... excellent stuff
Thanks bro, when I'm trying to duplicate something or do a left and a right side and make them exactly the same I will use profile gauges but I'll just make them out of cardboard. Works like a charm!
Nice work, I have a bead roller but am new to it, so after all the work you put into the initial panel I would have been nervous running it thru the roller, afraid of it bending wrong, I just need more practice
I had never seen this technique with clay, and the contour model, on the other hand, the Vray Shelling technique is effective, so I am writing from France.
Nice idea with the modeling clay! I imagine it works great as long as there isn't a bad high spot. Kind of an unusual choice on the roof but I'm interested to see how it looks when it's done. Really am a fan of that year Thunderbird!
Super job Tubal , amazing how well the wheel and the shrinker stretcher tools work to ! you would think you couldn’t manipulate metal that much but you obviously can .. nice job 👍
I’m looking at the use of clay to get the profile, and I’m thinking so simple, why haven’t I thought of that. Terrific video, thank you for the effort you have put into making the video 👍
Very nice. The only thing the video didn’t cover was making sure that you’re not compounding someone else’s errors. The door seemed to have a piece of wood for the glass. If this was in the same pattern as the OEM glass and fitted correctly then no problem. But if it was going to require custom glass just because the roof was butchered and not because an OEM glass would never work then the time to correct the errors would be before making the patch panel.
I actually do have a class coming up. You can check out my website, I'll probably be offering a class once a month or so. Also I'm building a really good online course. If your interested you can shoot me your email and I can contact you when the online course is available also
Good timing, I need to make a similar patch for a 1967 Camaro. I like the clay and tape idea.
Awesome! 👍 Glad I could help!
man this channel is the best thing I found in years. Every video is a treat man, thanks for what you're doing. Greetings from Germany
Wow, thanks! Glad your getting value out of my vids man!
Dude you are an artist.
Thank you!

Yeah I still get that nervous feeling sometimes for that reason😅. Altho most everything in metal can be fixed
Clay? Who would have thought. Genius!!!
Nicely done patch panel
Thank you! Cheers!

I learned this technique from Wray when I worked with him in his shop for a few weeks
@@BeAMetalFabricator I saw all the videos too
I always enjoy learning new skills on your channel. Thanks
Glad to hear that! Thanks for watching!

Wray would be proud. Nice work!
Cool trick with the clay. I was wondering why you were doing it. Nice job!
Thank you!

Thanks for the video.
I'd like to see the side profile of that car.
Nice work!
That’s awesome but I’m more interested on the car can you show more information on the Birdstang?

Well the reason it's going to need different shaped glass is because it didn't fit the contour of the different roof.
Yep always great just to short
Thanks man! Haha gotta clip down the vids to try and keep the attention
Thanks brother you thought us good information 👍💯
Glad I can help! Are you doing patch panel replacement on a project?
@@BeAMetalFabricator yeah I often run into rust and have to make patches
Nice work
Thanks bro
Lookin' good! That looks to be a Torino roof, but it looks great no matter what it is. I'm wondering what quarter and door glass is going to be used.
It is actually a Torino roof, that was my mistake. Good Eye!!!
Impressive!
this is genius
Excellent solution to the problem at hand. Hey! Where did you buy your clay??
Actually I bought this clay from wal-mart in the art section, I'm sure there is much better clay to use for this kind of job 😂
Well done👍
Thank you 👍
Nice. How did you make the stencil, off the other side of the roof?
Actually just beyond the old repair
You’re a BAMF!😂 Great information.
Haha thanks bro
Do you offer a class ? I would love to learn how to metal fabricate like that!
Im teaching myself in my garage currently.

@BeAMetalFabricator where can I send you my email address ?
I'm definitely interested in both online class and in person.
tubalcainbamf@gmail.com it's also in my YT description
Awesome thanks
You bet!
Nice ! What tape are you using for the pattern?
It's low stick tape on the bottom layer and fiberglass reinforced tape on top.
Bro can you do a video to explain machines that you are using. because these days i am serching what kind of machines will be fit for my shop
Yeah I can do that! What kind of shop are you trying to equipped? or for what type of work?
@@BeAMetalFabricator body work shop bro
Paint and body?
@@BeAMetalFabricator yes
Are you sure that's not a Fairlane fastback roof?
Its actually a Torino roof. Not a mustang, that was my mistake.
@@BeAMetalFabricator Torino/Fairlane . . same roof.
Tools tools tools
And I still ain't got enough lol
👍
Couldn't you find a bigger malet for shaping the patch😂😂😂🎉
😂😂😂
Nice work
